It’s not every day that credit card programs get new travel partners, but Capital One added a few great ones in October 2025 that you shouldn’t overlook.

The new partners are Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, I Prefer Hotel Rewards, and my new personal favorite, Qatar Privilege Club.

From the iconic Qsuite to the ease of transferring Avios to the airline’s annual 10% birthday discount codes, here are some of the top reasons why I’m thrilled about this new Capital One Miles and Qatar Privilege Club partnership.

Why I Value Qatar Airways Privilege Club

Currently, the Capital One Venture X card is offering its best-ever welcome offer in nearly 4 years: 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 within the first 6 months of account opening. If you don’t have the card yet, now is the time to apply.

Capital One Miles

Even though Capital One only added Qatar as a transfer partner a couple of months ago, I’ve already successfully transferred lots of miles, which helped me purchase flights from Singapore (SIN) to Madrid (MAD) with a stop in Doha (DOH) for a monthlong, points-and-miles family trip I’m planning to Asia next summer.

Qatar is also a 1:1 transfer partner of Amex Membership Rewards, as well as a 1:1 Bilt transfer partner and a Citi ThankYou Rewards transfer partner (1:1 for premium cards and 1:07 for nonpremium cards).

Cardless Offer
Cardless often offers ways to earn additional Avios on the Qatar Visa. Image Credit: Cardless

I’m also able to earn Qatar Avios by making purchases on my Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature Credit Card. I earned an elevated welcome bonus offer last year when I got the card — 60,000 Qatar Avios —and as a cardholder, I get Qatar Silver status during my first year of card membership, with the option to maintain it through spending in subsequent years. I often receive emails from Cardless, the card issuer, offering bonus Avios deals for reaching specific spending thresholds, making it easy for me to continue earning Qatar Avios at a higher rate.

Transfer Avios Between Programs

Thanks to the recently revamped Avios.com tool, I can now transfer Avios between programs. These are the programs that allow sharing:

This feature came in handy recently when I accidentally transferred too many Capital One miles to Qatar. I had planned to book 3 economy tickets between Madrid (MAD) and Bangkok (BKK) for 37,500 Qatar Avios each, but by the time the miles arrived, only 2 seats were still available at that price.

The third ticket had jumped to more than 70,000 Avios. With the cash fare sitting around $600, there was no way I was going to burn 70,000 Avios for poor value.

Instead, I booked the final Qatar ticket using cash and moved the remaining Qatar Avios to Iberia, where I was able to use them to book tickets between Madrid and Chicago (ORD) at a significantly discounted rate, thanks to an Iberia Avios sale.

This also comes in handy because it opens up the possibility of transfer partners. For example, Iberia isn’t a transfer partner of Capital One, but now it (sort of) is, because I can move Capital One Miles to Qatar Avios and Qatar Avios to Iberia Avios.

Hot Tip:

This transfer partnership is even more valuable to me because it no longer works for me to move over Capital One Miles to British Airways as I’ve been dealing with this frustrating situation for nearly 2 years. But now, thanks to Avios.com and Qatar as a new transfer partner, I can send over my Capital One Miles to any airline that uses Avios.

Best Ways To Redeem Qatar Avios

I’ve redeemed Qatar Avios for numerous award flights over the years — here are just a few examples.

Flying Qatar QSuites business class between the U.S. and Doha costs 70,000 Avios. QSuites is a true luxury, and it’s one of my favorite ways to fly. The seats are ergonomic and comfortable, the service is exceptional, and the food and drinks are memorable. You can book nonstop Qatar Qsuites flights to Doha using Avios from 10+ major U.S. cities.

Now that I have a family, though, I often redeem Qatar Avios for flights between Europe and Asia (with a stop in Doha) for just 37,500 Qatar Avios one-way in economy.

Qatar Airways Avios can also be redeemed for partner airline flights. For instance, I’ve booked JetBlue domestic flights for 8,500 Avios and on American Airlines flights to Mexico and the Caribbean for 13,000 points.

I’ve also found AA tickets from West Coast hubs to Hawaii (HNL) for just 16,000 Qatar Avios.

Lesser-Known Perks of Qatar Airways Privilege Club

Qatar Airways offers interesting benefits that I only discovered after joining the Qatar Airways Privilege Club and frequently flying with the airline.

10% Birthday Discount

Each year, just before my birthday, Qatar emails me a 10% birthday discount code, which I make sure to put to use. The code can only be used once on a single booking, but you can have several passengers within that booking. The great part is that though I have to book it within 90 days of my birthday, I can use it on a flight within a year after my birthday, giving me added flexibility with travel dates.

There are other terms and conditions (including which business and economy fare classes are allowed), and you can only use it when flying on Qatar metal (no partner airlines). Still, I find the 10% discount a generous perk that other airlines don’t give me.

Qatar Stopover Program

Because so many of Qatar’s long-haul itineraries include a stop in Doha (DOH), the airline has developed one of the best stopover programs to encourage travelers to spend time in the Qatari capital on the way to or from their destinations.

Passengers can add up to a 4-night Qatar stopover package to their Qatar Airways itinerary if their transit time is between 12 and 96 hours. The program offers various packages at affordable prices (starting at just $14 per night for a standard hotel), with options for premium, beach-access hotels and luxury add-ons.

Qatar Transit Accommodation

Specific tickets are eligible for a free transit accommodation package. It’s for passengers who have a transit time in Doha of 8 to 24 hours.

The package includes a hotel room, transfers to and from the airport, and a visa. In order to obtain this, you have to submit a copy of your ticket for review. It’s only available for tickets where there is no available layover shorter than 8 hours.

Final Thoughts

I’m thrilled that Qatar Avios is now a transfer partner of Capital One miles. Because I can earn a solid 2x points on all my spending with the Capital One Venture X card, I can accumulate a large number of points quickly.

Then, thanks to Avios.com, I have the flexibility to send my Capital One miles to any airline that uses Avios as its reward currency. This kind of functional versatility is what makes both Capital One miles and Qatar Avios (all Avios, really) so valuable to me.
