Disneyland is always refurbishing, renovating, and re-developing something, and today is no different. Shortly after the official opening of San Fransokyo Square (which debuted officially on August 31, 2023), Disney has just premiered its latest project: Tiana’s Palace.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Tiana’s Palace Restaurant

Fans of Disneyland will have known that something has been going on the last few months in New Orleans Square thanks to all the construction walls (and the disappearance of their favorite beignet shop).

Today, September 7, 2023, the wait ends, as Tiana’s Palace officially debuts, replacing the French Market that previously existed in the space.

Tiana’s Palace is a quick-service restaurant, which means you won’t be sitting inside to eat. Instead, you’ll make your way through the buffet line before checking out. It’s also possible to do a pickup or mobile order outside.

Along with a re-theming, the menu for Tiana’s Palace has completely changed from French Market. Here are some of the food items you can expect:

  • House-filled beignet
  • House gumbo
  • 7-greens gumbo with chicken & Andouille sausage
  • Cajun-spiced half chicken
  • Muffuletta sandwich
  • Gulf shrimp and grits
  • Beef Po’boy sandwich
  • Buttermilk cornbread

As you can see, the Cajun/Creole theming of Tiana’s Palace matches perfectly with its location in New Orleans Square.

Savvy Disney guests will likely already know that Tiana’s Palace is going to be packed for the next few months, as all new attractions always are.

If you want to sample the new menu, your best bet is going to be to place a mobile order as quickly as possible. Unlike virtual queues, you don’t actually need to be inside the park to place a mobile order. This means you won’t have to rush to get there early. Instead, you can place an order for later from the comfort of your home (or hotel).

Final Thoughts

It’s always exciting when Disney opens something new, even if it replaces something we love (RIP French Market). It makes sense that Tiana’s Palace is located in New Orleans Square, but it would have been nice if it were a little closer to the now-defunct Splash Mountain, which is currently undergoing re-theming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
