The Delta SkyMiles program gets its fair share of criticism from the points and miles community. Switching to dynamic pricing has led to inconsistent and sometimes incredibly inflated prices. However, it’s not all doom and gloom.
Before you assume your SkyMiles are worthless, you’ll want to pay attention to Delta SkyMiles flash Sales. These somewhat random, limited-time sales pop up from time to time, offering huge discounts on award flights. If you watch for these deals, you may get a ton of value from your SkyMiles.
This post discusses Delta SkyMiles flash sales and how to find them. Plus, we show you some additional ways to save on your Delta award tickets.
Delta SkyMiles flash sales, also known as Delta SkyMiles Deals, Delta SkyMiles specials, or simply Delta SkyMiles sales, are limited-time deals offering great prices when using Delta SkyMiles.
While the Delta SkyMiles program is often the punch line in jokes about bad redemption value, there are still great opportunities to get excellent value from your miles.
It’s true that award prices on Delta flights can often be out of control. We’d take a hard pass on 200,000+ miles for a one-way flight in Delta One. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any good Delta redemptions anymore.
Take a look at this example that we randomly chose. While the cost of a Delta One award ticket is astronomical, a basic economy round-trip flight between JFK and LHR is only 44,000 miles. That’s not the cheapest we’ve seen, but it’s not a bad price for a budget-conscious traveler who wants to use Delta SkyMiles to book award tickets.
Delta SkyMiles deals can be hard to find because they aren’t always announced, so you need to have some luck or know where to look.
You’ll find current Delta sales on the SkyMiles Deals page. Head to Delta’s website and click on SkyMiles>SkyMiles Award Deals or use the direct link.
This can be an incredibly useful page because the deals can be sorted by departure airport, so you can easily narrow down the options to ones from your home airport.
One of the great things about this SkyMiles Deals page, in addition to its ease of use, is that many smaller airports are included. So, even if you don’t live near a Delta hub, you can still find great deals from your airport.
Sale prices usually hover between 12,000 to 15,000 miles for a round-trip domestic economy ticket, but we’ve seen prices as low as 4,500 miles one-way.
Most of the deals listed here are for round-trip domestic flights, but some international destinations are also sprinkled in. We’ve even seen flights to the Caribbean for as few as 12,000 Delta SkyMiles round-trip in economy.
Occasionally, Delta will run flash sales. These sales are often unannounced, so they can be hard to find. However, we’ve got you covered. Our team digs up these deals and will share them with our readers when we find a great sale.Hot Tip:

You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards to Delta if you just need to top off your account for a specific redemption. However, that’s not the best way to use your Amex points since you’ll have to pay an excise tax offset fee based on the number of miles you transfer. Because of that, limiting your transfers of Amex points to Delta to just small amounts when needed is best.

They could, but it’s not a sure thing. The idea that airline ticket prices are cheapest on Tuesdays is a common misconception. In reality, there’s little rhyme or reason to airline prices, and there’s no pattern for when prices change.
You can find current Delta award deals on the SkyMiles Deals page on Delta’s website. However, Delta flash sales aren’t generally announced ahead of time. You’re in the right place because we post great Delta deals on UpgradedPoints.com.
