Benefits You Need to Know
One of this card’s greatest benefits is that it offers multiple bonus categories that earn points in a flexible rewards program, Membership Rewards.
The Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express also provides a ton of flexibility for your financial needs and offers incredible insurance with premium benefits to make this card even more rewarding.
1. Bonus Points
Earning bonus points where it matters most for your business is what the Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express is all about. You’ll find 5 business-focused spending categories to earn extra points for purchases.
You will be able to select the category that matters most for your business to earn 3X points per dollar spent, making this the highest bonus for any charge card available. The remaining 4 categories will earn 2X points. These categories include:
- Airfare purchased directly from airlines
- U.S. purchases on advertising in select media
- U.S. purchases at gas stations
- U.S. purchases for shipping
- U.S. computer hardware, software, and cloud computing purchases with select providers
It is important to note that these categories will earn their bonus on purchases up to $100,000 in a calendar year. All purchases made above that threshold (and all non-category purchases) will earn the standard 1X points per dollar spent.
Being an American Express Membership Rewards cardholder, you’ll also have the opportunity to earn unlimited bonus points on certain travel expenses. All cardmembers will earn 2X points per dollar on eligible travel-related purchases made using your card at AmexTravel. This includes airfare, prepaid hotels, and more with no limit on the number of bonus points earned.
2. Membership Rewards Program
The Membership Rewards program offers tons of flexibility to earn rewards for your business, plus options to redeem with over 500 leading brands in travel, merchandise, and entertainment.
One of the most valuable rewards benefits is the ability to transfer your points directly to 20 airline and hotel loyalty programs that partner with American Express. With only a few quick and easy steps to link your accounts, you’ll be ready to transfer and redeem your points for travel in no time.
Need more flexibility? You are also able to use your points to book travel directly through American Express Travel, but this doesn’t provide the best value for your points. You will only earn a value of 1 cent per point when redeeming for travel booked this way.
Not looking for travel rewards? Another option would be to redeem your points directly for merchandise, gift cards, or event tickets through the Membership Rewards site. However, this also limits your points value to 1 cent each, so it’s still not a great use of your points.
There are tons of ways to use the valuable Membership Rewards points earned by using this card!
3. The Hotel Collection
Hotel bookings made for 2 consecutive nights or more using your Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express through American Express travel services (including Amex Travel) will earn you a $75 credit for eligible charges made during your stay with participating hotels (The Hotel Collection).
This benefit will definitely come in handy for those short business trips and provide you with an incentive to use your card for all of your business needs.
4. Special Access to Events
The Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express is one of American Express’ elite travel rewards cards, which provides special access to events that partner with Amex.
American Express partners with some of the most popular event venues and entertainment experiences to provide their elite customers with the best choices and service when looking to attend these events.
This card will grant you access to American Express Preferred Seating at select venues and events when using your card to purchase your tickets. These seats are reserved especially for American Express elite cardholders.
All American Express cards also offer American Express Presale for special events that partner directly with American Express, giving you early access to some of the most popular events to ensure you get the tickets you want.
5. Amex Offers
One of the best money-saving shopping benefits offered by a credit card issuer is Amex Offers. You can earn special discounts on dining, shopping, entertainment, and more from select merchants! Sometimes Amex Offers will even provide an opportunity to earn bonus Membership Rewards points.
All you have to do is register for the specific offer that’s tied to your card, meet the terms of the offer by using your card, and you’ll start saving in no time!
6. Spending Capacity
The Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express provides big spending power with no preset spending limit, allowing you to make large purchases for your business with ease and earn lots of points.
Since this is a charge card, you also won’t need to worry about interest rates because your balance is due in full at the end of each statement period. However, this card often offers the option to enroll in a pay over time program, which will then provide an interest rate for any purchases you want to extend your payments on.
Purchase Protections and Travel Insurance
American Express cards are well known for their excellent insurance protection that will cover all your important business purchases and travel arrangements made using your card. The Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express covers the following:
7. Extended Warranty
This is a great benefit to add additional warranty protection for your business purchases that have a warranty of 5 years or less from the manufacturer.
Once the manufacturer’s warranty expires, your Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express adds up to an additional year of warranty coverage for purchases (up to $10,000 per item with a $50,000 maximum per year).
This is perfect for protecting all your valuable business purchases, especially with its high coverage limit.
8. Purchase Protection
Accidents happen, but your card protects eligible business purchases from theft and accidental damage for 90 days from your original purchase date.
This covers up to $1,000 per incident and up to $50,000 per calendar year, making it the perfect coverage for new phones and other high-value items that are most prone to these types of accidents by you or your employees.
9. Premium Roadside Assistance
This card has you covered when things go wrong while you’re on the road. Flat tires, tow services, or anything else…this card will make sure you get back on the road quickly. Roadside assistance services are complimentary, and American Express will cover the fees for 4 service calls a year—even if your car is stuck in your driveway!
Having this complimentary service and American Express picking up the tab on eligible fees is a huge benefit.
10. Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance
You can save costs on most rental cars with additional insurance protection offered by the Business Gold Rewards Card from American Express. This card covers eligible car rentals that are paid entirely your card if you decline the collision damage waiver coverage from the car rental company.
This covers your eligible car rentals from theft and damage for up to $50,000 and doesn’t increase the cost of your car rental. However, unlike the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card that provides primary insurance, this card only provides secondary coverage, which means it kicks in after your own insurance.
11. Baggage Insurance Plan
When traveling on business, you and your employees will be covered with additional insurance if the loss of either checked or carry-on baggage occurs when travel was booked using your card. This coverage will also extend to spouses, domestic partners, and dependents on the same reservation.
This insurance will cover up to $500 for the replacement cost of items lost in checked baggage and up to $1,250 for the replacement cost of items lost in carry-on baggage.
Be aware that there is a limit of $250 for coverage of high-value items, which would include computers and other expensive business electronics. Most of the time these policies also require a lot of documentation when submitting a claim.
