To get straight to the point, the answer is no. The Amex Platinum card does not give you automatic Delta Air Lines status, nor does it give you a pathway to earn status with Delta.

There are really only 2 Delta-related benefits on the Amex Platinum card. The first is access to Delta Sky Clubs while traveling on a Delta Air Lines flight. The second is, if you select Delta as your designated airline for the up to $200 annual airline fee credit, you can use those credits to offset incidental purchases made with Delta like checked bags, seat selection, and more.

What Status Does the Amex Platinum Card Offer?

While the Amex Platinum card doesn’t offer any type of airline elite status, the good news is it does offer status in multiple hotel and rental car elite programs.

Amex Platinum cardholders receive automatic Hilton Honors Gold status upon enrollment, which offers perks like 80% bonus points, room upgrades, a food and dining credit, and more. You’ll also receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status upon enrollment, which includes 25% bonus points, room upgrades, a welcome gift, 2 p.m. late checkout, and more.
