Capital One Miles

Currently, we value Capital One miles at 1.8 cents each, so the card’s welcome bonus offer is worth $2,700, thanks to the incredible ways you can redeem Capital One miles.

2. Earn 10x Miles for Hotels and Rental Cars Booked Through Capital One Travel

When you book hotel stays or rental cars through the Capital One Travel portal, you will earn a whopping 10x miles per $1 spent.

If you aren’t committed to booking these travel purchases directly through one program or another, you can easily rack up thousands of miles each year. In fact, if you spend at least $3,000 per year on hotels and rental cars, you would earn 30,000 Capital One miles, which we value at $540.

3. Earn 5x Miles for Flights Booked Through Capital One Travel

Additionally, you’ll earn 5x miles per $1 on all flights booked through Capital One Travel, no matter what airline you fly with. This way, you can always choose whichever flight is cheapest and fastest and earn 5x miles.

If you spend just $2,000 per year on flights through Capital One Travel, you’ll earn 10,000 miles, which we value at $180.

4. Earn 2x Miles on All Other Purchases

In addition to the other bonus categories, the Capital One Venture X Business card earns an unlimited 2x miles per $1 on all non-bonused spend.

This makes the card a powerful point earner if you make it your go-to card for all of these purchases. According to Shopify, on average, small business owners spend $40,000 in their first full year.

If you put all of these business expenses on your Capital One Venture X Business card, you’d amass 80,000 Capital One Miles, which we value at $1,440.

5. 10,000-Mile Anniversary Bonus

While no one loves paying a credit card annual fee, the Capital One Venture X Business card offers multiple annual perks that help offset that annual fee.

This includes a 10,000-mile anniversary bonus each year that you renew your card and pay the annual fee.

If you were to redeem these miles straight through the Capital One Travel portal, they’d be worth at least $100 in travel purchases. However, we value these miles at $180 thanks to the added value you can get through the Capital One transfer partners.

Flexible Redemption Options

6. Transfer Miles to Travel Partners

We highly value earning transferable rewards thanks to the flexible redemption options they provide, as opposed to earning points with programs that are tied to a specific airline or hotel chain.

Having these additional options when it comes time to redeem your miles helps ensure that you can get as much value as possible out of your hard-earned miles.

Fortunately, Capital One offers a great selection of travel transfer partners, which includes programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and more.

7. Redeem Miles Through Other Methods

If you prefer redemption options that require less time and effort than using transfer partners, Capital One offers these options as well.

You can redeem Capital One miles for travel through the Capital One Travel portal at a fixed 1 cent per mile, gift cards with select merchants at 1 cent per mile, and cash-back at 0.5 cents per mile.

While these options are much easier, you lose the value upside that transfer partners can offer.

Travel Benefits

8. Up to $300 Capital One Travel Credit

As with the annual bonus miles, Capital One Venture X Business cardholders also receive an annual up to $300 Capital One Travel credit.

This credit can be used toward any eligible purchase through Capital One Travel, including flights, hotels, rental cars, and more. Assuming you would have spent at least $300 per year on one of these travel purchases anyway, this is a great way to mentally recoup some of the value that you spend on the card’s annual fee each year.

9. Access to the Capital One Partner Lounge Network

If you travel somewhat frequently, then you’ll love having a card that offers airport lounge access. Fortunately, Capital One Venture X Business cardholders have access to over 1,400 lounges, including the top-notch Capital One Lounges and the Capital One Partner Lounge Network.

Capital One offers its own collection of Capital One Lounges. These premium lounges are quite similar to the American Express Centurion Lounges and are known for excellent service, a fantastic food and beverage program that includes to-go options, family rooms, business rooms, exercise rooms, and more.

All primary Capital One Venture X Business cardholders receive unlimited free visits and can also bring 2 free guests per visit.

Priority Pass Select Membership

Cardholders of the Capital One Venture X Business card receive a complimentary Priority Pass Select membership which gives you access to over 1,400 airport lounges worldwide.

While there are many credit cards that offer Priority Pass access, the Capital One Venture X Business card takes it a set further by also offering you access to the handful of Priority Pass restaurants where you can receive a $28 credit when dining solo or $56 credit if you are dining with a guest.

Plaza Premium Lounges

The lounge access doesn’t stop there, though, as Capital One Venture X Business cardholders also receive complimentary access for themselves and 2 traveling companions to 100+ Plaza Premium Lounges located in various airports around the world.

10. Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Fee Credit

If you hate waiting in lines at airports, then having Global Entry and/or TSA PreCheck is for you. With TSA PreCheck, you receive expedited security clearance when traveling through U.S. airports. With Global Entry, you receive an expedited customs experience when returning to the U.S. from abroad.

We recommend opting for Global Entry because it includes TSA PreCheck, while applying for TSA PreCheck alone does not include Global Entry. Better yet, your Capital One Venture X Business card includes an application fee credit of up to $120, so receiving both memberships via Global Entry will come at no cost to you.

Travel Protections

11. Auto Rental Car Insurance

If you often rent cars during your business travels, you’ll love that the Capital One Venture X Business card offers auto rental car insurance.

The auto rental car insurance on the Capital One Venture X Business card gives coverage for collision or theft of most rental cars you coverage so long as you deny the rental company’s insurance policy and pay for your entire car rental with the Capital One Venture X Business card.

12. Lost or Damage Luggage Reimbursement

Losing your luggage while traveling is never ideal, but if it happens, it is great to have a card that helps recoup the value of your lost items. Thankfully, with the Capital One Venture X Business card, you may be eligible for reimbursement due to theft or misdirection!

Shopping Protections

13. Purchase Security

With purchase security, eligible purchases made with your card for 90 days after the date of purchase are covered in the event of theft or damage to the item.

14. Extended Warranty

Your extended warranty protection extends the factory warranties of eligible items purchased with your card.

Additional Perks

15. Flexible Spend Capacity

Your card does not have a preset spending limit. This means that the amount you can charge on the card each month will adapt to your needs based on your spending behavior, payment history, and credit profile.

Final Thoughts

It is easy to see why the Capital One Venture X Business card is a great option for business owners. Not only does it come with a great welcome bonus, bonus categories, and travel perks, but you also receive quite a few business benefits that make operating your business easier.

Of course, the value you can get from each of these benefits is subjective. Some you will value highly, and some you may not value at all. But if you are interested in perks like flexible redemption options, airport lounge access, expedited security at airports, travel protections, shopping protections, and various business benefits, then it is likely that the Capital One Venture X Business card would be an excellent choice for you.

For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the benefits may be provided by Visa® or Mastercard® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.
