1. Earn Points in Credit Card and Hotel Loyalty Programs
As an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner, you earn points for making purchases from program partners and for using Amex Membership Rewards credit cards like those below.
Because American Express is a Delta partner, you can transfer Membership Rewards points to SkyMiles at a 1:1 ratio. It just takes a minimum of 1,000 points.

2. Qualify for Credit Card Sign-up Bonuses
You have plenty of options when it comes to credit cards that earn SkyMiles directly.
In addition to earning up to 2X miles per $1 on Delta purchases, Delta’s co-branded Amex cards also offer sign-up bonuses worth as much as 75,000 miles depending on the current deal.
Keep in mind your account will need to be active and meet the minimum spend requirements for each card within the first 3 months to qualify for a sign-up bonus.
It can take up to 6 to 8 weeks for the SkyMiles to appear in your account. However, your SkyMiles will typically post to your account shortly after your statement closes once you’ve hit the minimum spend requirement.

3. Sign Up for Delta SkyMiles Dining
Link a credit card to Delta SkyMiles Dining and you’ll earn 3-5 SkyMiles per $1 for every purchase at a participating restaurant. While you can link any credit card, using a Delta credit card will also get you an additional 1x miles for your purchase. If you use a Membership Rewards card with a U.S. restaurants as a bonus category, you could earn even more.
If you dine out often and at participating restaurants, your SkyMiles account could get a big boost. Even if you just eat out once a week, the program is worth it! For instance, if you spend $50 each meal and earn 5 SkyMiles per $1 spent, you’ll get 3,000 SkyMiles in just 3 months which would mean 13,000 miles in 1 year.

4. Shop Through the Delta SkyMiles Shopping Portal
Make purchases from hundreds of online retailers in the Delta SkyMiles Shopping program to earn 1-5 SkyMiles per $1 spent…and sometimes more! Look for coupons and sales on the SkyMiles Shopping portal too.
Pay with your Delta SkyMiles credit card for an additional point per $1 spent. Or use your Amex Membership Rewards credit card to earn at least 1X point per $1 spent that you can then convert to SkyMiles.

5. Book an Airbnb Rental
Delta partners with tons of hotels so you can earn SkyMiles for you stays, but did you know you can also earn miles for booking through Airbnb?
Earn 1X mile for each $1 spent on a rental at the over 3 million homes worldwide when you book from deltaairbnb.com. A 7-night rental could mean 1,000+ points — definitely something to think about when planning your vacations for the year!
Hot Tip: You don’t need to book an Airbnb rental to benefit from the program. You can rent you own rooms out as a host and earn up to 25,000 SkyMiles. Delta also offers periodic sign-up bonuses to new members.
