Delta Air Lines is one of the most flown international airlines. If you are a frequent flyer, chances are good that you’ve traveled on Delta, since it carries over 180 million passengers to 323 destinations in 59 countries each year.

Delta’s popular SkyMiles loyalty program awards members with miles based on money spent flying with the airline and its many travel partners. Miles can then be redeemed for airline tickets, merchandise, and a variety of services.

In this article, we will show you how it’s possible to earn more than 100,000 SkyMiles in just 90 days. Also, be sure to take a look at our guide to earning Delta SkyMiles here for more great strategies.

So, get ready to take notes — and start thinking about how you’d like to spend your miles!

Why Would You Want to Earn 100k Miles?

Just thinking about 100,000 SkyMiles probably has you thinking about what you might do with them.

Whether you’ve always wanted to experience their Delta One product – a combination of business and first class, you’re planning an international trip, or you simply want to visit friends and family across the country, you can do so with your SkyMiles.

Delta’s many redemption partners also include popular hotels, car rental agencies, and online retailers, but it’s rarely a good idea to use points for anything except award flights with Delta or one of its SkyTeam. SkyMiles can also be used to book award flights on partners Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Australia.

1. Earn Points in Credit Card and Hotel Loyalty Programs

As an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner, you earn points for making purchases from program partners and for using Amex Membership Rewards credit cards like those below.

Because American Express is a Delta partner, you can transfer Membership Rewards points to SkyMiles at a 1:1 ratio. It just takes a minimum of 1,000 points.

Learn about American Express credit card offers and the Membership Rewards program by clicking the links in the table below.

Recommended Chase Cards (Personal)

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card - This is our favorite beginners travel rewards card which has a 60,000 point bonus (highest ever) after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

This sign up bonus is worth $750 in travel purchases (flights, hotels, car rentals etc) when you redeem your points through Chase's travel portal, which works like Expedia. The bonus alone could get you multiple round-trip flights or hotel stays.
Chase Sapphire Reserve® - Consider this premium card if you want to get into a lot of airport lounges. The current sign up bonus is 50,000 points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. You'll also get a $300 travel credit per year which wipes away a big chunk of the $450 annual fee.
Chase Freedom Unlimited® - A simple, no annual fee card that earns you 3% cash-back on all purchases in your first year (up to $20,000 spent), then 1.5% on all purchases after that. Just know that you won't get any travel benefits or the ability to earn bonus points with this card.

Business Owner? See our article on Chase business cards that earn Ultimate Rewards.

Recommended Amex Cards (Personal)

The Platinum Card® from American Express - There's currently a welcome bonus of 60,000 points after spending $5,000 in your first 3 months. This is our favorite card for getting into 1,200+ airport lounges worldwide (including Priority Pass) and we get about $1,500+ in value from the card every year.

Plus, get up to $200 in Uber credits annually ($15 per month and a $20 bonus in December) — and up to $200 in annual credit for airline incidental charges (e.g. baggage fees). For rates and fees of the Platinum Card, click here.
American Express® Gold Card - We love using this card as it earns 4x points at restaurants worldwide and 4x points at US supermarkets (up to $25,000; then 1x). There's no better card in our opinion if you eat out and/or shop at supermarkets regularly.

With a welcome bonus of 35,000 points after you spend $2,000 in your first 3 months and a $100 airfare credit per year, for many this is an easy addition to your wallet. For rates and fees of the Gold Card, click here.

2. Qualify for Credit Card Sign-up Bonuses

You have plenty of options when it comes to credit cards that earn SkyMiles directly.

In addition to earning up to 2X miles per $1 on Delta purchases, Delta’s co-branded Amex cards also offer sign-up bonuses worth as much as 75,000 miles depending on the current deal.

Keep in mind your account will need to be active and meet the minimum spend requirements for each card within the first 3 months to qualify for a sign-up bonus.

It can take up to 6 to 8 weeks for the SkyMiles to appear in your account. However, your SkyMiles will typically post to your account shortly after your statement closes once you’ve hit the minimum spend requirement.

Link a credit card to Delta SkyMiles Dining and you’ll earn 3-5 SkyMiles per $1 for every purchase at a participating restaurant. If you use a Membership Rewards card with U.S. restaurants as a bonus category, you could earn even more.

If you dine out often and at participating restaurants, your SkyMiles account could get a big boost. Even if you just eat out once a week, the program is worth it! We developed a detailed guide to maximizing your Delta SkyMiles Dining points that will break down the program for you.
