Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express has introduced a limited-time elevated welcome offer, allowing new cardholders to unlock greater value after meeting spending thresholds.

You can earn 150,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $20,000 on eligible purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account. Plus, there’s an additional opportunity to receive a $500 statement credit when spending $2,500 on qualifying flights booked directly with airlines or through AmexTravel.com during that same 3-month period.

This enhanced welcome offer is available through June 30, 2025, giving you time to determine whether this premium business card aligns with your needs.

That said, applying before summer begins could unlock even more value. With this strategy, new cardholders may be able to double-dip a statement credit, potentially earning up to $350 in value from a perk that usually maxes out at $200, covering roughly half of the card’s $695 annual fee (rates & fees).

We’ll explain how this works below.

Earn 150K Bonus Points and a Flight Credit [Worth $3,800]

Eligible applicants who apply by June 30 can take advantage of this welcome offer on the Amex Business Platinum card:

  • Earn 150,000 points after spending $20,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. Plus, earn a $500 statement credit after spending $2,500 on qualifying flights booked directly with airlines or through AmexTravel.com in the first 3 months.

While it’s possible to earn just one or both components of the welcome bonus offer, most cardholders will want to have a clear strategy for meeting the spending requirements to maximize the total value during the introductory period.

This card is geared toward high-volume business owners, given the hefty spending requirement to earn 150,000 bonus points. That said, the statement credit has never been offered before and is an excellent way to save roughly 20% on upcoming flights. Best of all, you can make purchases in multiple transactions until you reach this limit.

According to our points and miles valuations, American Express Membership Rewards points hold significant value, worth 2.2 cents each when redeemed for travel through the program’s transfer partners.

When you combine that valuation with the limited-time welcome offer, including the $500 flight statement credit, the total potential value adds up to an impressive $3,800.

Hot Tip:

The Amex Business Platinum card awards 5x points on flights booked through AmexTravel.com, meaning you’ll take home an additional 12,500 bonus points in value after meeting the $2,500 spend requirement.

Double-Dip on Dell Credits [Worth Up to $350]

The welcome bonus offer is just one piece of the puzzle when applying for rewards cards. Many offer statement credits and benefits that help to offset the value of the ongoing $695 annual fee, and that’s certainly the case for the Amex Business Platinum card.

The Dell credit is a prime example. Upon enrollment, you can receive up to $400 in annual statement credits for U.S. purchases made with Dell — up to $200 from January through June, and another $200 from July through December.

However, American Express recently announced upcoming changes to its Dell credits. Beginning July 1, 2025, cardholders will be eligible for up to $150 in annual statement credits on Dell purchases. Additionally, those who spend $5,000 or more on Dell purchases between July 1 and December 31 — and in each calendar year thereafter — can earn an extra $1,000 statement credit.

What To Buy at Dell With Amex Business Platinum Card’s Credit

During this unique window — now through June 30 — you can still take advantage of up to $200 in Dell credits under the current structure upon receiving your Amex Business Platinum card. Then, beginning July 1, you’ll have access to an additional Dell credit worth up to $150, with no minimum spend required.

This double-dip opportunity means you’d get up to $350 in value from the Dell credit during your first year of card membership.

Or you could even purchase a Epson wireless printer for $199.99 with the up-to-$200 Dell credit (valid from now through June 30), then the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game for Nintendo Switch for $59.99, a Xbox One digital code for Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary for $59.99, and a Dell 14-16 EcoLoop backpack with for $29.99, all with the Dell credit of up to $150 (valid after July 1).

How you want to maximize these credits is entirely up to you — but there’s only a short window in which you can get up to $350 in value from this one benefit alone!
