United’s Surprise Adventure Week has reduced-price award availability, and this time there’s a promotion for flights from the U.S. to Hong Kong.

Here’s more information about Surprise Adventure Week and how to snag a bargain redemption for yourself!

Day 5 Promotion Details

Today’s promotion lets you find flights for as low as 40,000 miles one-way as a holder of a United credit card, or 45,000 miles for non-cardholders. Flight availability runs from August 9 through December 12, 2024, with no blackout dates!

You’ll have to make your mind up fast, as each discounted destination will only be on sale for 1 day! Let’s have a look at some examples to Hong Kong.

For example, here are the many options from Los Angeles (LAX) in October:

Typically, one-way economy redemptions to Hong Kong from the U.S. cash start around 55,000 miles, so booking during this promotion would save you around 20,000 miles round-trip. Arguably, that doesn’t equate to huge savings, but it’s definitely better than nothing.

Before diving in and booking your ticket, there are a few terms to be made aware of:

  • You must be a United MileagePlus member to participate.
  • Basic Economy fares are the only ones eligible for the promotion.
  • The promotion is valid only on departures to Hong Kong (HKD) from the 48 contiguous U.S. states (excluding Alaska and Hawaii).
  • Travel between August 9 and December 12, 2024
  • No blackout dates

If you don’t have the miles handy, you can book the same flights starting at $859 round-trip!

Hot Tip:

When paying the taxes and fees of a reward flight, we always advise (where possible) to use a credit card best for United flyers. For example, using the United Club℠ Infinite Card here would earn 4x points per $1 spent on United purchases.

Final Thoughts

The week of August 5th will be full of tempting United award deals to exciting destinations, including Australia on day 1, New Zealand on day 2, Tahiti on day 3, Taiwan on day 4, and Hong Kong on day 5.

United’s home page will be updated each day with details of the new destination. Alternatively, you can check your United app, where you’ll also find the latest information.
