As one of Marriott’s newest brands, Autograph Collection consists of properties that don’t always get the attention they deserve, especially in contrast to mega-names like The Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis.

This brand consists of a large collection of independent, boutique hotels that have joined forces with Marriott Bonvoy to leverage the enterprise’s world-class loyalty program, distribution system, and marketing leadership.

Originally concocted by the former CEO of Days Inn, Autograph Collection actually became an unlikely formula for success when numerous Kessler Collection properties were re-branded in 2010.

This became the origins of the Autograph Collection, which today is geared towards well-heeled travelers looking for unique hotel experiences.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best Autograph Collection hotels and resorts you can book using Marriott Bonvoy points. But first, let’s go through the brand profile, including what you can expect at an Autograph Collection property.

Everything You Need To Know About Autograph Collection

Autograph Collection is Marriott’s premium soft-brand, and it’s often thought of as the little sister to Marriott’s luxury soft brand, The Luxury Collection. In fact, it straddles the line between Marriott’s premium/upper-upscale and luxury hotels.

Its main target competitors are Curio Collection by Hilton, Leading Hotels of the World, Preferred Hotels, and Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

In this next section, we’ll show you how Autograph Collection differentiates itself from its competitors.

A Product of Vision

Autograph Collection vision

No 2 Autograph Collection properties are the same, but each property is curated to provide authentic travel experiences that tell a story, whether it’s an exotic retreat resort, glamorous palace or castle, or slick and iconic city hotel.

That’s why each property has a clear vision, whether it’s to provide a luxurious oasis along a white-sand beach, offer an arts-forward experience in the middle of a hip downtown metropolis, or curate historic stories at a secluded castle.

Heartfelt Design

Autograph Collection properties are all uniquely designed. Whether with striking contemporary architecture or classic old-world glamour, each of these spaces is built and furnished with maximum attention to detail.

Most importantly, the design supports each hotel’s vision.

Dedication to Craft

Autograph Collection craft

Expert hospitality, services, and amenities are put on display at an Autograph Collection hotel.

All of these elements go hand-in-hand to create a lasting imprint on your memory after you’ve left the property.

The focus is, of course, on an elevated level of boutique service that resonates with you for years to come.

A Sense of Place

Autograph Collection sense of place

Immersing yourself with the local vibe is an essential part of the travel experience. At Autograph Collection properties, you’ll find yourself easily able to connect with your surroundings.

That’s because every hotel is handpicked to what Marriott believes to offer the best sense of the locality, whether through location, themes, amenities, facilities, or service.

Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

Marriott Bonvoy is the name of Marriott’s loyalty program. At the moment, you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points from credit card spending, thanks to any of Marriott’s co-branded Amex and Chase credit cards.

After you’ve earned your points, you can redeem them for stays at Autograph Collection properties!

The 14 Best Autograph Collection Redemptions

While Autograph Collection is formally categorized as a premium Marriott brand, most of them are actually 5-star hotels. Some of them are “upper-upscale” 4-star properties, but don’t be fooled: these are some of Marriott’s most luxurious hotels and resorts available.

And to be able to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points and save thousands of dollars on hotel stays is an incredible benefit.

We’ve compiled all of Marriott’s highest-value Autograph Collection properties that you can book with points. We’ll take you around the world, from Alabama to Germany and even Italy!

1. Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection (Island of Hawaii, Hawaii)

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

One of Hawaii’s most renowned Marriott properties, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection takes the cake for our top Autograph Collection property to redeem with points.

Hawaii is notoriously pricey, especially if you want a beachfront, top-notch location. That’s where this hotel shines.

Situated on Mauna Kea Beach, this tropical resort is within easy reach of the Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area and even the Lapakahi State Historical Park.

Each standard room has either 1 king bed or 2 double beds, as well as a furnished balcony, a desk, and a flat-screen TV. The well-appointed bathroom contains a shower-tub combination, L’Occitane amenities, bathrobes, and more.

There’s an alfresco farm-to-table restaurant, a continental eatery, an American beachside eatery, a lū‘au every Tuesday, and a golf clubhouse spot.

You’ll find a spa offering Balinese and Hawaiian-inspired treatments, a 24/7 gym, a salon, 11 tennis courts, an outdoor pool, direct beach access, complimentary bike rentals, and much more. Don’t forget about the 18-hole championship golf course!

One of the best points deals in Marriott’s entire portfolio, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Autograph Collection’s award nights start around 50,000 points per night.

You’d be hard-pressed to ever find any standard rooms cheaper than $750 per night. More realistically, expect to find cash rates of $1,000 per night on average — during the high season, standard room rates explode to $1,500 per night!
