Homewood Suites by Hilton is an extended stay brand that offers great value along with upscale amenities that mimic the comforts of home, like free breakfast, a full kitchen, a 24-hour on-site convenience store, and free internet.
While many of the points redemptions we discuss here at Upgraded Points involve luxury hotels and first class flights, it’s important to remember that there’s some great value to be had when you use your points for more moderately priced accommodations and flights.
In this post, we’ll look at the best Homewood Suites by Hilton Hotels that you can book with points.
Here’s a quick look at the parameters we used when assembling this list:
- Hilton Honors points are worth ~0.5 cents each. This list includes locations where the points value exceeds this average.
- The most popular travel dates for each location were determined using Google Travel.
- The cash rates used here were based on the cost of a weekend night during the peak travel season for each destination.
- The cents per point value was determined using the average of the cash and points cost of a room over a 2-month period.
Of course, the cost of a hotel room can vary throughout the year so these numbers are just an example of what you could expect when traveling during a peak season for your destination.

American Express Credit Cards
Another option to get more Hilton points is to transfer them from American Express. Amex Membership Rewards points transfer to Hilton at a 2:1 ratio. However, this isn’t the best use of your American Express points — you’ll get more value out of them using Amex’s airline transfer partners.
While you might not get the most value out of your Amex points by transferring them to Hilton, it can be a good way to top off your account if you need a few more points for a specific redemption. It’s always good to have options, so let’s take a quick look at our recommended American Express cards:

Bottom Line: If you need to earn a ton of Hilton Honors points and you enjoy perks like elite status and free nights, consider using a Hilton Honors credit card. You can also transfer points over from American Express Membership Rewards, but it’s not the best use of your Amex points. We only recommend it to top off your account for a specific redemption or if you have an overabundance of American Express points and are in need of Hilton points.
Using Points for Homewood Suites by Hilton Hotels
You can book Homewood Suites hotels using Hilton Honors points. Hilton doesn’t have a standard award chart, so you’ll see prices that are all over the map.
When you’re booking a Homewood Suites hotel with points (or any Hilton hotel for that matter), it’s a good idea to look at the flexible pricing calendar to make sure you avoid super high prices. Hilton often charges more on seemingly random days, so you’ll want to avoid those at all costs.
Keep an eye out for award nights with exceptionally high prices. Image Credit: Homewood SuitesYou can easily find the award calendar by selecting My dates are flexible when searching for a room. You’ll then be able to spot the high-priced nights that you’ll want to avoid.
When searching for award nights at a Homewood Suites hotel use the flexible search feature to avoid high prices. Image Credit: Homewood SuitesHot Tip: Hilton doesn’t have a set award chart, so using the Hilton Honors Points Explorer tool can help you see the range of how much award nights may cost. When searching via calendar view, keep an eye out for random days with extraordinarily high prices among more reasonably priced days.
