San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas are 2 of Mexico’s most frequented beach towns, especially by the wealthy.

If you’re staying at a luxury resort in Los Cabos, there’s a decent chance you’ll spot a celebrity, depending on which property you stay at.

Nonetheless, Los Cabos (SJD) is known for being easily accessible via a short flight from the West Coast and nonstop flights from numerous U.S. cities, making the city an attractive spot for a brief getaway.

Los Cabos is famous not only for its white-sand beaches, but also for its scuba diving, “balnearios” (quaint Latin American seaside towns and villages), Land’s End rock formations, Lover’s Beach, and so much more.

Earn Hotel Points To Redeem in San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas

If you’ve set your sights on one of these spectacular hotels in Los Cabos, you’ll need to earn the right points and rewards to have a chance at getting a complimentary stay here.

Los Cabos is a beloved destination of the wealthy, but you don’t have to make massive daily purchases to accumulate enough points for a reward stay here.

Let’s walk through the best ways to start earning hotel points with each major chain, starting with Hilton Honors.

Hilton Honors

Hilton Honors is somewhat unique from Marriott Bonvoy and World of Hyatt in the sense that it employs a pricing scheme known as dynamic award pricing.

In essence, the number of points you’ll pay for a particular hotel will vary depending on numerous factors like the cash price, forecasted occupancy, and more.

That being said, American Express is the sole issuer of Hilton Honors credit cards. And although these cards are known for free night certificates, what’s really special is that you can earn a ton of Hilton Honors points quickly:

Other Ways To Earn Hilton Honors Points

Earning lots of Hilton Honors points is easy, thanks to massive spending categories of up to 14x Hilton Honors points.

That being said, if you are just short of the needed points for a redemption you had in mind, you can also transfer Amex Membership Rewards points to Hilton.

We don’t recommend transferring a lot of points, however, because you won’t get solid redemption value by doing this.

World of Hyatt

The World of Hyatt Credit Card offers game-changing benefits for a co-branded hotel credit card. Issued by Chase, this card offers some of the best value from a card with a paltry $95 annual fee.

To start off, this card confers a sizable welcome bonus upon meeting your initial minimum spending requirements.

Thereafter, you’ll actually get 1 free night at any World of Hyatt Category 1-4 property after each cardmember anniversary. This benefit alone is worth more than the annual fee!

Other benefits include 5 elite night credits and the ability to earn elite night credits from purchases on your card.

We discuss the card’s features in our benefits guide of the World of Hyatt card.

Other Ways To Earn World of Hyatt Points

As we alluded to above, one of the best ways to earn World of Hyatt points is by using the World of Hyatt card.

However, the World of Hyatt card offers relatively limited bonus categories if you’re not spending at Hyatt properties frequently.

To get rewarded the most on daily expenditures like dining and travel, we highly recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred® CardChase Sapphire Reserve® Card, and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card as the Chase credit cards that earn the most points for your goals.

Additionally, if you have any of those 3 Chase cards, you can also earn Ultimate Rewards points on the following cards by converting your cash-back rewards to Ultimate Rewards points:

You can transfer any needed points from your eligible Chase card to your World of Hyatt account as World of Hyatt and Ultimate Rewards are 1:1 transfer partners.

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott Bonvoy is one of the most worthwhile hotel programs to participate in, thanks to its gigantic footprint of 7,300+ properties across 30+ brands.

Interestingly, American Express and Chase are both partnered with Marriott to issue co-branded Marriott Bonvoy credit cards that will help you earn points on ordinary purchases:

Other Ways To Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points

The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is to spend on a Marriott co-branded credit card!

And while you can transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy, we generally don’t recommend doing so, due to the limited value you’d get by doing this — instead, transfer your Amex or Chase points to airline partners for maximum value!
