If you’re looking for a credit card to help you earn Marriott points and provide a few perks, you might want to check out one of the 2 Marriott cards provided by Chase.

Whether you need a personal card or a business card, Chase has you covered with the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card and the Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card.

Let’s dig into what both of these cards can offer you.

Chase Marriott Credit Cards

Each Marriott credit card comes with a variety of benefits as well as a sign-up bonus to get you started on the right track.

Based on your needs, you can decide which card is best for you. Take a look at the reviews below to make this easy.

Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card

The Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card can help you earn plenty of Marriott points. This can be especially useful if you would prefer to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to other partners.

With this card, you’ll earn 6X points per dollar spent on all purchases at Marriott and Starwood hotels. You’ll also earn 2X points per dollar on all other purchases.

See below in the table for the current sign up bonus. Just make sure to meet the required minimum spending threshold to get it!

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Card - earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Get automatic silver elite status each account anniversary year; and a free night award (valued up to 35,000 points) every year after account anniversary.
Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card - earn 75,000 bonus points (terms apply). A solid card for business owners who will get complimentary Marriott Bonvoy silver elite status. Annual fee is $125. For rates and fees of the Bonvoy Business Card, click here.

This card doesn’t have any foreign transaction fees (like many other cards) — and has an $95 annual fee.

Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card

If you have a small business, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card might be just the ticket to some free hotel nights and a way to earn Gold elite status with Marriott.

Like the personal version of the card, you will earn 5X points per dollar spent at Marriott and Starwood hotel properties. You will earn 2X points per dollar spent on airline tickets bought directly from airlines.

Additionally, you will earn 2X points per dollar spent at restaurants, office supply stores, car rental agencies, and on cable, internet, and phone service purchases. All other purchases will earn 1X points per dollar spent.

The sign-up bonus for the Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card is often similar to the personal version at around 80,000 Marriott points. There will also be a minimum spending requirement to earn this sign-up bonus. The offer varies, so check the details of the offer at the time of application.

One key difference between this card and the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card is that you can earn Gold Elite Status with Marriott by spending $50,000 during your account year. Your account year starts when you open the account and ends after 12 statements. Unfortunately, with the new Marriott program, Gold status no longer includes breakfast or club lounge access.

This card does not incur foreign transaction fees and has a $99 annual fee.

Earn Elite Status Nights

Both cards come with 15 nights toward elite status when you are approved for the card (except for 2018, where the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card will grant Silver Elite status but not elite night credits for 2018 only).

Additionally, you will receive these 15 nights each year you maintain the account. These 15 nights are enough to automatically earn you Silver elite status with Marriott, and you’ll be well on your way to Gold status.

Elite Status LevelNights Required

Gold25 Nights

The only significant difference between being a regular member and having Silver elite status is the 10% bonus points earned on your paid stays with Marriott. Once you reach Platinum status, you’ll receive benefits such as lounge access, complimentary upgrades (when available), 4 pm late check-out, and more.

Annual Free Night Certificate

You will also receive a free night certificate after you have reached your account anniversary.

For both cards, the certificate can be used at any property that is 35,000 points/night or less.

You will have 1 year from the date of issuance to book your free night.

Travel Protections

Like many other Chase credit cards, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card and the Marriott Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card come with a number of travel protections.

With trip delay insurance, you will be eligible for up to $500 in reimbursement if your flight is delayed by 12 hours or the delay forces you to stay overnight. Reimbursable expenses include hotel costs, meals, ground transportation to and from the airport, and more. Make sure you confirm what is covered under the terms and conditions before making a purchase with your card.

If you arrive at your destination but your bag is delayed by at least 6 hours, you can also be reimbursed up to $100 per day for 5 days for essential purchases like toiletries and clothes. In the unfortunate event that your bags are lost, whether checked or carry-on, you can count on $3,000 in coverage per passenger.

About Spencer Howard

Always a fan of flying, it was only natural that Spencer was drawn to finding a way to improve the travel experience. Like many, he started this journey searching for cheap flights to take him around the world. This was fun for a while, but Spencer was intrigued by the idea of flying in business and first class! Throwing himself into what became an extensive research project, Spencer spent 3-4 hours per night learning everything he could about frequent flyer miles over the course of several months (he thinks this is normal).

Looking for a Marriott credit card with no annual Fee, or at least an option to obtain credit for the fee after charging a certain amount over a fixed period of time

    • Christine Krzyszton · February 8, 2019 · Reply

Hello Tom! I’m sorry to say that there are no Marriott Rewards-earning credit cards with a $0 annual fee or one that reimburses the annual fee. However, selecting one of the credit cards that offers an annual free hotel night could potentially offset the cost of the annual fee if you would use that benefit.
