With the Barclays JetBlue Plus Card, you can make these flights even more enjoyable thanks to a number of perks, and even earn TrueBlue points for award flights.

As a World Elite MasterCard credit card, you can also count on it coming with a number of consumer protections.

Let’s dive in!

JetBlue TrueBlue Benefits

JetBlue flights serve a number of destinations across the United States as well as the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and even northern South America.

Earn More TrueBlue Points

With the JetBlue Plus Card, you can earn TrueBlue points on all of your purchases, which can help you book your next award flight and take an amazing vacation.

With this card, you can earn 6X points per dollar spent on all JetBlue purchases, so all your cash tickets can give you a big boost toward your next award flight.

Unlike many co-branded airline credit cards, the JetBlue Plus Card comes with a couple of popular bonus categories that make earning TrueBlue points even easier. You can earn 2X points per dollar spent at restaurants and grocery stores.

All other purchases with the card will earn 1X point per dollar spent.

Additionally, you will receive a bonus of 5,000 TrueBlue points after your account anniversary each year you keep the card.

If you have Mosaic elite status with JetBlue, you can earn even more TrueBlue points on your cash tickets with JetBlue. In addition to the 6X points per dollar you’ll earn with the JetBlue Plus Card, JetBlue members earn 3X per $1 on JetBlue base fare (Blue) flights and a further 3X if they book it through the JetBlue website. Finally, you can earn an additional 3X points per $1 for having Mosaic status. With this combo, you could earn up to 15X points per dollar spent on JetBlue tickets!

Don’t forget that the JetBlue Plus Card often comes with a hefty sign-up bonus to get you started. Just meet the minimum spending requirement within the stated timeframe and you’ll be on your way to some amazing award flights.

Earn Mosaic Elite Status

Jetblue points
With the JetBlue Plus Card, you don’t have to be a road warrior to earn Mosaic elite status. Image Credit: Jetblue

Now, you might be wondering how you’ll earn JetBlue Mosaic status if you don’t fly regularly for work. Well, the JetBlue Plus Card can take your annual credit card spending and turn it into elite status for you.

If you have the JetBlue Plus Card, you will earn Mosaic elite status when you spend at least $50,000 in a calendar year. Once you hit this spending threshold, your new Mosaic status will be applied within 4-6 weeks. This means you’ll have Mosaic elite status for the remainder of the year in which you earned it as well as the entire following year.

Mosaic elite status comes with a number of benefits and perks that can make flying with JetBlue even better.

Perhaps the most basic but important perk provided by Mosaic status is the ability to change or cancel itineraries without fees. This benefit even extends to other people booked under your reservation.

While holding the JetBlue Plus Card already provides a complimentary checked bag to you and your traveling companions on your itinerary, Mosaic status allows you to check a second bag at no cost.

Mosaic members also receive access to priority boarding, and you’ll even receive complimentary alcoholic drinks once onboard.

Finally, upon earning Mosaic elite status, you will receive 15,000 TrueBlue points for a big boost toward your next award booking.

Points Refund on Each Award Ticket

The Barclays AAdvantage® Aviator™ Red World Elite Mastercard® and the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard® each provide cardholders with a 10% rebate of the American miles they use (up to 10,000 per calendar year) to book award flights.

Similarly, the JetBlue Plus Card provides a 10% rebate on all TrueBlue points redeemed for award flights.

This perk is a great way to extend your miles further so you can book even more award flights and save big money on your vacations.

Save 50% on Inflight Purchases

If you’ve ever looked at an inflight menu while traveling in economy on a domestic flight, you’ve probably noticed how expensive the meal and beverage options can be.

With the JetBlue Plus Card, you can save 50% on these inflight purchases so you can enjoy a meal and a beer, cocktail, or glass of wine without breaking the bank.

Additionally, you will also receive the 50% savings when you purchase a movie to watch.

World Elite Mastercard Protections

As a World Elite Mastercard, the JetBlue Plus Card comes with several benefits beyond the ability to earn free flights and improve the JetBlue experience:

  • Lyft — Get a $10 Lyft credit (once per month) when you take at least 5 rides in a month
  • Shoprunner — Receive a free ShopRunner membership offering free 2-day shipping and free return shipping at specific online retailers

  1. Christopher Wood November 29, 2018

Good Morning. I was looking to upgrade my JetBlue Card to a Plus Card. I know there is an $99 annual fee, however I know some companies offer free upgrade for active duty military members. I was just wondering if Barclays was one of them? Thank you and have a great day.

  2. I have a quick question: I love flying Jet Blue and I just signed up the JB card for 99 dollars annually. Would you suggest I sign up for another card to receive lounge status?
    Thank you for your help!

  3. Isis Lucia Hart April 5, 2019

If I use my Jet Blue Mastercard in Europe for purchases there, will there be a transaction fee or exchange fees?
Let me know. I am travelling on a cruise and would like to use my card for purchases while we travel.

    • Hey Isis, there are no foreign transaction fees on this card. It’s always best to pay in the local currency (they usually give you an option) in order to get the best exchange rate.

You can find out more on fees and additional info about this card in our in-depth card review here: The JetBlue Plus Card Review.

      Hope this helps!

  4. I have the jetblue plus card $99 annual fee. I know that first luggage is free but is it only for jetblue flights or can it be with any other airline?

    • Hi Jazmin,
The complimentary checked bag perk is only for JetBlue flights.

      • Is this complimentary bag only for JetBlue Plus? It did not say that when I signed up for my flight.

        • Hi Alison,

Yes, only the JetBlue Plus and JetBlue Business card offer a free checked bag. Keep in mind that you must pay for your flight with the card in order to receive the free checked bag benefit.

          Thanks for reading!

  5. Actually, you’d earn 3x base points + 3x bonus points for booking directly on the site + 3x points for Mosaic status + 6x points for using the jetBlue Plus card = 15x points (of base fare + 7% excise tax)

    • Hi Naima!

You’re correct that JetBlue members earn 3x per $1 on JetBlue base fare (Blue) flights and a further 3x if they book it through the JetBlue site. If they use their JetBlue Plus card to pay for the flight they’ll earn an additional 6x per $1.
It is also true that if they happen to have Mosaic status they’ll earn an extra 3x points per $1 on each fare category.

So for people with Mosaic status, booking through JetBlue.com, and using the JetBlue plus card, they will earn 15x.

Thanks for catching our typo – we’ve updated the post to reflect the 15x in potential point earning.

Hi I’m wondering about the rental car insurance.
I rented a car with my JetBlue card and someone broke into it and robbed my stuff. Can’t find any info on who to contact

        • Hi Michael,

Have you tried calling the support number on the back of your JetBlue card and speaking with the reps there? Or was that stolen as well?

  6. Mary Lou Bianco May 19, 2019

If I use true blue points to purchase a ticket and just pay the taxes with my JetBlue Plus credit card, do I still get the first checked bag free.

    • Hi Mary Lou!

Yes, if you use TrueBlue points for the flight, and use your JetBlue Plus card to pay the taxes and fees, you will still receive the first checked bag free for you and up to 3 companions traveling with you.

  7. Anyone have any luck accelerating the JetBlue Mosaic status earned through card spending? I am trying to shrink the 4-6 week window and have had no luck yet chatting or calling. I’m happy to HUCA but I’m curious if anyone had results.

    • Hi IK!

Are you meaning that you’ve already spent the $50,000 on your JetBlue Plus card required for Mosaic status but they are requiring you to wait 4-6 weeks for that status to update in your JetBlue account?

  8. Elizabeth Dugan June 6, 2019

Are JetBlue Mastercard holders entitled to more aisle space seats at no extra cost?

  9. Charles Collins June 13, 2019

I just paid for a Hawaiian cruise with a customer service rep with Norwegian. I didn’t purchase thru JetBlue travel because it wasn’t available. My question is since I used my JetBlue card to pay for the cruise are we covered with travel insurance? I declined the Norwegian coverage because I thought my JetBlue card gave me the protection needed.

    • Hi Charles,

The travel insurance that comes with the Jetblue card only applies for flights purchased with the card that has been delayed 6 hours or more.

  10. I have the JetBlue Plus Credit Card with th $99 annual fee. When it says one checked bag free for you and up to 3 travel companions, does this mean a free checked bag for all 4 of us (1 free checked bag per ticket?) So this would be a total of 4 checked bags for free?

    • Hi Kristie,

Yes, that is correct! You would receive a free checked bag for you and all three of your travel companions, for a total of four bags!

  11. My husband has the mosaic status and we have the JetBlue Plus card. We are looking to book 7 tickets under our family account. Do you know if 15X points is applicable to all 7 or only him?

    • Hi Max,

Only your husband would receive 15x since he is the only one with Mosaic status associated with his frequent flyer number.
If you’re making the entire booking simultaneously then you will earn 6x for the entire purchase with your JetBlue Plus card. Lastly, all of the remaining flyers will earn 6x (3x for being JetBlue members and a further 3x for booking through the website), deposited into their respective frequent flyer accounts. You can pool all of these points together through though the JetBlue points pooling program.

      Thanks for reading!

  12. I have the JetBlue Plus World Elite MasterCard. I’d like to know if the card includes any reimbursement for TSA PreCheck—thanks!

  13. Jane Ann Johnson September 5, 2019

My husband has a JetBlue credit card. How do I sign him up as a TrueBlue member?

    • Hi Jane, unless your husband input a TrueBlue number when applying, he would’ve been assigned a TrueBlue number upon approval for the JetBlue credit card. He can call the number on the back of the credit card and ask for a copy of the TrueBlue number on the account. Thanks!

  14. If I get a JetBlue Plus card and I purchase a JetBlue ticket for my daughter to fly on her own, will she get the free bag allowance? Or does the actual cardholder also have to be flying?

    • Hi Dan,

The baggage benefit is tied to your TrueBlue account so you would need to fly with her in order for her to receive a free checked bag. If she is flying by herself then she will not receive the free baggage allowance.

      Thanks for reading!

  15. Lisa Auditore Reynolds October 6, 2019

Is there any way to borrow or purchase points at the time of booking a flight that would presumably be less expensive than paying cash for the flight? I’m a few thousand points short of booking the flight I want but if I wait until next month when I’ll have enough points, the fare may have increased by that time. Thanks for your help.

    • Hi Lisa,

Yes, you can purchase additional JetBlue points on the Jetblue website to give you enough for a free flight.

      Thanks for reading!

  16. How can I upgrade from the JetBlue card to the JetBlue plus? Do I have to apply again or should a phone call do the trick?

    • Hi Matt,

If you want to receive a new welcome bonus then you should consider applying for the JetBlue Plus card. If you’re only interested in upgrading then you should call the number on the back of your current JetBlue card and they will assist you.

      Thanks for reading!

  17. anne cherniack November 18, 2019

I purchased a meal and used my JetBlue plus credit card. Why was I charged full price?

  18. Brooks Stevens December 16, 2019

I currently have the Jet BlueWorld Elite Master Card. When I book a flight using that card do I get a free bag?

    • Hi Brooks,

Yes, you will receive a free checked bag for holding the card.

      • Mark Katz June 10, 2020

Just Booked a flight and they charged me $30 ea per person $120 total!
I have a JetBlue World Elite Mastercard. Is this a mistake?

        • Hi Mark,

Just to clarify, do you have the JetBlue Plus credit card (which comes with a $99 annual fee)? Or do you have the no annual fee JetBlue card?

If you have the JetBlue Plus card, did you pay for your flight with the card?

  19. Thomas E Klein December 17, 2019

I purchased a laptop computer on 9/25/2019. Last week on 12/10/2019 the screen cracked is there protection to cover this? What must I do to make a claim?

  20. If I upgrade my card to Plus today, how long do I need to wait to purchase my ticket and have the free checked bag perk?

    • Hi Janet,

If you upgrade the card then you should be able to access those benefits right away. Assuming your card is attached to your JetBlue True Blue account.

  21. Anwar Hassan January 21, 2020

Hi, if I purchase extra legroom seats Inflight with my JetBlue plus card, does that qualify for the 50% off?

  22. Hi- if I purchased my JetBlue flight on another card, but I’m a JetBlue Plus cardholder- can I still get a free checked bag for myself and up to three companions for that flight? Thanks!

  23. I am upgrading my JetBlue card to the plus card. I purchased airline tickets on my original JetBlue card. When I get my plus card can I change my payment to my plus card so it would go towards my $1000 for 3 months?

    • Hi Kathy,

If the purchases have already posted prior to your card changing, then those purchases will not count towards the minimum spend requirement.

  24. My wife already carries the fee-free JetBlue card. What’s the likelihood of Barclays giving her the 60,000-point bonus if she tries to upgrade to JetBlue Plus?

    • Hi Andrew,

They will seldom offer you the sign-up bonus when upgrading from a different version of the card. If you want to receive the 60,000 point bonus you likely will need to apply for the card – but it never hurts to call a Barclay rep and ask!

  25. Rhonda Kearns February 24, 2020

When TrueBlue points are used to purchase a flight, does that flight count towards base points or segments when trying to earn Mosaic status? And is there a logarithm used by JetBlue for people who say spend $35000 and have 8000 base points to meet Mosaic?

  26. Robert Kohler March 5, 2020

What occurs if you already have a JetBlue card and want to get a JetBlue Plus card?

    • Hi Robert,

You can either call the number on the back of your card and request to be upgraded to the JetBlue Plus card, or you can simply apply for the Plus card since they are separate products. One thing to keep in mind is that, if you apply for the JetBlue Plus card and are approved, you will be able to receive a welcome bonus for meeting the minimum spend – which might not be available for just upgrading to the card.

  27. Gerald mcguire May 5, 2020

Do you earn points for gas and landscape supplies when you use your JetBlue card?

  28. Oren Malka June 22, 2020

Hi there. Unfortunately, from what I was told, the information regarding the Extended Warranty is incorrect. I just called and they told me extended warranty is not offered and referred me to the benefits page where I also did not see that listed. It may have been offered at one time, but the woman I spoke with was unfortunately not very helpful and was rather blunt letting me know it was not offered at this time.

  29. Do authorized cardholder members get the free checked bag?
I just added my mother to my account and will like to know if she gets the same benefit.
    Thank you.

    • Hi Karla,

Unfortunately, the checked baggage benefit only applies to the primary cardholder, and up to 3 traveling companions. So if you mother uses the card and travels by herself, she will not receive the benefit.

  30. A quick question. I am considering applying for Jer Blue Plus CC. The only reason I am doing so is to get free checked baggage benefit. I do have several itineraries with JetBlue booked already and don’t have the card yet. The website tells me that in order to be eligible for free bags I have to purchase my ticket with JetBlue using this card. When I spoke to the rep in the CC application call center she told me that those existing itineraries can be eligible for free checked bags if I switch my primary payment method to JB + credit card. However, no further info is available. I would hate to apply for an extra credit card, pay the annual and expedited shipping fee if I can’t get free checked bags on the existing itineraries.
Could you help and advise if changing the primary payment method to the new JB + MasterCard in my True Blue account will guarantee me free checked bags on itineraries not booked directly with JetBlue or booked with another credit card?

    • Hi Galina,

As we do not have any affiliation with JetBlue or Barclays, I cannot provide any information that will guarantee you can retroactively get the free checked bag benefit if you apply for the JetBlue Plus card. I recommend you contact the JetBlue customer service team directly, as opposed to the CC reps at Barclay, and ask if they can verify whether you can switch the primary payment method to receive the baggage benefit after the fact.

  31. I bought two Air Canada tickets with my JetBlue plus card, and the flight was canceled. Can I request my refund through my JetBlue card?

    • Hi Mario,

No, you’ll need to contact Air Canada to have your refund processed. You can contact the reservations team at 1-888-247-2262.

  32. Do I need to pay the full amount for the flight on the JetBlue Mastercard to receive the baggage benefit?

    • Hi Pris,

Do you have the no annual fee JetBlue card or the JetBlue Plus card? I ask becasue the no annual fee version does not offer a free checked bag. If you have the JetBlue Plus, then yes you must pay for your flight with the card in order to receive the baggage benefit.

      • I do have the Plus. What if I just pay a small amount on my card and the rest with points from another bank? Not the Jetblue points. Would that qualify?

        • Hi Pris,

As long as you pay for part of the flight with your JetBlue Plus card, then yes you should receive the baggage benefit.
