Sign-Up Bonus, Earning Categories, and Points
The current sign-up offer for The JetBlue Card is detailed in the card summary table above.
JetBlue’s loyalty program is called TrueBlue. As a member, you’ll get 3x points for every flight. Then, you’ll earn another 3 TrueBlue points for every $1 you spend on JetBlue purchases with the card, for a total of 6x points.
You’ll also get 2x TrueBlue points when you make qualifying purchases at restaurants and grocery stores, plus 1x TrueBlue points for all other purchases you put on the card.
Keep your account in good standing, and there’s no limit to the points you can earn! Best of all, redeem points for any seat any time on JetBlue flights with no blackout dates. Your miles never expire!
The JetBlue Card Benefits
Along with the sign-up bonus, the card comes with a bunch of terrific benefits.
Enjoy a 50% savings on inflight purchases such as alcoholic beverages, meals, and JetBlue movies. You will also receive an introductory APR offer; details in the summary table above.
Using this perk is an excellent way to save on interest from cards with high APRs.
In addition, JetBlue offers a unique benefit to TrueBlue members called Family Pooling. Unlike other airlines which make combining and transferring points among family members a challenge, JetBlue makes it easy.
If you travel abroad, you’ll appreciate that there are no foreign transaction fees with the card. The chip-card technology also allows you to make international purchases with ease.
Family Pooling allows up to 2 adults and 5 kids to collect points individually and then pool them together for free. This program comes in handy when trying to reach a big travel goal like a group award trip!
Badges and Mosaic Status
Have fun earning JetBlue TrueBlue points with the badges program. There are more than 400 badges in loyalty, travel, and partner categories that provide both prestige and bonus points.
The most difficult to earn is the Destination Domination Badge: Fly to every destination city and earn 500,000 points! There are plenty of more reasonable challenges too, like linking your Facebook for a fast 50 bonus points.
Here are a few examples of other popular badges:
|Flights in a Year||Bonus|
|Take 3||3 (round-trip)||5,000 pts.|
|Lucky 7||7 (round-trip)||7,000 pts.|
|Go Long||10 (one-way, 1,600+ miles)||10,000 pts.|
In lieu of an elite status program, JetBlue makes it possible for members to earn the Mosaic badge. To unlock the badge, you need to reach 30 flight segments plus 12,000 base TrueBlue points, or 15,000 base points alone.
You need to qualify every year, but the perks include 15,000 bonus points, 3x bonus points for booking flights (in addition to other points), and up to 2 free checked bags for you and anyone traveling on your itinerary
You also get access to an expedited security line, early boarding, a dedicated customer service line, and complimentary in-flight alcoholic beverages. Plus, there are no change or cancellation fees for those with Mosaic status.
Compared to The JetBlue Plus Card
Barclaycard offers a total of 3 JetBlue Barclaycard credit cards:
This card is the only one without an annual fee; both of the others are $99 per year.
Members who carry The JetBlue Plus Card get several benefits for the annual fee, including a sign-up bonus and 6x TrueBlue points for JetBlue purchases.
The card also comes with an anniversary bonus of 5,000 points per year. The first checked bag is free (for you and 3 companions), and you get a 10% bonus when redeeming points.
Finally, every year, if you purchase a JetBlue Getaways vacation package of at least $100, you will receive a $100 statement credit.
The JetBlue Card offers a variety of basic benefits for travelers, all at no annual fee. The sign-up bonus is a bit smaller than most other sign-up bonuses, especially considering this is a low cost carrier.
You do earn points at a higher rate than most airline cards at 3x points per dollar, and also earn 2x points for dining and supermarkets. JetBlue travelers and everyday spenders are sure to find value!
Great Card If
- You prefer to fly JetBlue over other airlines
- You have a balance to transfer from a card with a high APR
- You want to earn badges to get additional points
Don't Get If
- You are looking for a high sign-up bonus
- You don’t fly enough to earn badges
U.P. Pro Tips
Join the TrueBlue Dining Program and earn points for dining at more than 11,000 restaurants around the world.
Earn 1 TrueBlue point per $1 spent at restaurants in the network. (If you have Mosaic status, you’ll earn 2x points!)
But that’s not all: remember you also get 2x points for using The JetBlue Card at restaurants, making your earnings a minimum of 3x points per $1!
Not a bad deal for dining out, something you probably do on a regular basis anyway!
How To Use The JetBlue Card: The Upgraded Way
Best Way To Maximize Points
There are plenty of ways to get value from The JetBlue Card. We created a list of tips to get you started maximizing JetBlue points.
Tip #1: Purchase products from more than 700 online retailers at the ShopTrue Portal.
It’s possible to earn as many as 19 points per dollar spent at your favorite merchants. You’ll find stores like Nordstrom, L.L. Bean, Sephora, and more.
Tip #2: Fill out surveys at e-Rewards and Points for Surveys to earn extra points that transfer to your TrueBlue account. Get 350 points for completing your first survey at e-Rewards and 400 points at Points for Surveys. Then, earn extra points for completing additional surveys!
Tip #3: Book car rentals and earn extra TrueBlue points at the same time. JetBlue partners with car rental companies Avis, Budget, Carmel, Hertz, and Payless.
You can even earn points parking your car at Parking Spot or booking rides through Zipcar.
Tip #4: Transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to your TrueBlue account. The transfer rate is 250:200.
Tip #6: Book your JetBlue flights on jetblue.com for extra bonus points. The table below shows the number of bonus points awarded for each type of fare.
These bonus points are on top of the 3x points you get for using your card and 3x points for being a TrueBlue member!
|Blue Plus Fare||4x/$1|
|Blue Flex Fare||5x/$1|
Tip #7: Earn 6 points per dollar on JetBlue Vacation Getaways packages. The only caveat is that you can’t use points to purchase packages, only cash or credit card.
Tip #8: Get extra points when flying JetBlue by booking an Even More Space seat (200 points) or flying with your pet (300 points). There is a $100 fee each way for the JetPaws program.
Tip #9: Fly with JetBlue’s airline partners to earn TrueBlue points. Because JetBlue isn’t a member of an airline alliance, you’ll have to add your membership number to your passenger info when booking a flight.
Silver Airways awards 250 points per segment in all classes. See the table below for other point totals:
|Partner Airline||TrueBlue Point Accrual|
|Hawaiian Airlines||1.5 points/2 miles Business F and P|

Best Way To Redeem Points
No matter which methods you use to earn The JetBlue Card miles, you will want to redeem them for the highest value possible. Here are some tips for getting the most out of your TrueBlue point redemptions.
Tip #1: Book a JetBlue flight. Just visit jetblue.com/trueblue and sign into your account. Click on “Book Travel” and you can search for fares using points.
The number of points required for an Award Flight varies because it is based on the published base fare at the time you book. That means when a fare goes down, you need fewer points to book it. That’s a nice benefit!
Tip #2: Purchase one of the many JetBlue Vacation Getaways and save by using your TrueBlue points. While you can’t book a package with just your points, you can combine cash and points. Make reservations at jetblue.com/getaways or call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583), option 3.
If you need more points to qualify for the cash and points option, you can purchase them. The minimum purchase is 1,000 points for $37.63, and you can purchase up to 30,000 points in increments of 500.
Tip #3: Redeem points for a flight on Hawaiian Airlines. To book through JetBlue, visit jetblue.com and enter your TrueBlue number or call 1-800-JETBLUE (538-2583).
You can also book directly through Hawaiian Airlines at hawaiianair.com and then call 1-977-HA-MILES to add your TrueBlue number.
Tip #4: Donate points to charities in the youth and education, community, and environment categories. Find a list of charities at the JetBlue TrueBlue website.
Tip #5: Subscribe to magazines and newspapers using your points. Magazine subscriptions start at 400 points, and there is home delivery for a wide selection of local and national newspapers.

While we’ve covered the ways to earn and redeem points with The JetBlue Card, now it’s time to delve a little deeper. Let’s compare the financial cost and benefits of the card to see how much value is possible.
A Quick Recap of the Card
First, let’s look at a snapshot of the card:
|Annual Fee||Points Earned for JetBlue||Points Earned Dining & Grocery Stores|
Because the card has no annual fee, you begin to get value from the card right away. As long as you make the required spend in the allotted time, you’ll earn the current sign up bonus points.
Remember, there is no official status program with JetBlue. Instead, you need to earn a Mosaic badge to unlock elite benefits.
It’s a good idea to work on reaching the 30 flight segment/12,000 base points (or 15,000 base points) requirement to get those extras.
Keep in mind that the 15,000 bonus points are awarded one time, and there are no bonus points when you book flights.
Calculating The JetBlue Card Value with Model Families
Using our model spending families, we will see how many points they can earn in a year using the card. For our calculations, we’ll assume the families use the card for all of their purchases and fly exclusively on JetBlue.
We will also assume they book JetBlue’s Blue fare for 3x points on top of other bonus points. Let’s start by calculating the points earned for airfare only:
|Family||Airfare||3x JetBlue Card||3x TrueBlue Member||3x Blue Fare||Total Pts|
Not a particularly high number of points, but not bad either. It comes out to 9x TrueBlue points for airfare purchases. Of course, we still have a lot more to add to the total.
Below are the points for dining, groceries, and other purchases that can be put on the card.
|Family||Airfare Pts||Dining Pts||Grocery Pts||Other Pts||Total Points|
Wow! Our families earn between 56,800 and 126,800 points for their yearly spend. But what does that mean for them in terms of value?
Determining the Value of TrueBlue Points
When it comes to redeeming points, JetBlue is one of the trickiest airlines. There’s no awards chart, which makes it hard to figure out how valuable your points really are.
Most airlines publish award charts, but JetBlue bases the amount of points needed for redemption on the fare and other factors. Therefore, it changes for each transaction. However, the minimum to redeem award flights is 3,500 points.
Based on our research, TrueBlue points are valued at 1.4 cents ($0.014) per point. Redeeming for Mint Class seats gets you an even better value at 1.7 cents per point. So now we will calculate the monetary value of our spending families’ points.
*Calculations based on the lower $0.014 value
The points earned by our model spending families when using The JetBlue Card are worth $795.20 to $1,775.20. That’s an impressive total, and certainly worth it for a card with no annual fee!
The card can be quite valuable if you fly this airline exclusively. Put all of your monthly purchases on the card and it’s worth even more!
As a comparison, based on our review, the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card can earn up to $1,260 per year for our model families. That’s significantly lower, especially when you consider the card’s $99 annual fee.
Of course, if you fly Southwest and not JetBlue, the Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card is the best option. It depends on which airline is your preferred airline.
The Gritty Details: Everything Else You Need To Know
Overall, the card is pretty easy to understand.
The sign-up offer is subject to credit approval and available to new cardmembers only. Points will be deposited into your TrueBlue account 4-6 weeks after your qualifying transactions have posted.
If your account is closed or not in good standing, you may not earn points and may forfeit points not yet transferred during any billing cycle.
There’s no limit to the total number of points you can earn.
The 3x bonus points offer for JetBlue purchases does not apply to purchases of TrueBlue points, duty-free purchases, non-JetBlue Getaways, car rentals, and hotel reservations.
Your 2x bonus points offer does not apply to large warehouse-type stores such as Walmart, Costco, and Target.
An account must be in good standing to qualify for the 50% savings on cocktails, food, and JetBlue movies. You will receive a statement credit 4-6 weeks after the transaction(s) posts to your account.
Like other airline credit cards, your points will not expire as long as your account is open and in good standing, and you keep some activity on the card.
See TrueBlue Terms and Conditions for more information.
