Great Card If
- You frequently shop at T.J.Maxx and tjmaxx.com, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra Trading Post and sierratradingpost.com, and Homesense.
- You can pay off your bill in full each month.
Don’t Get If
- You rarely shop at T.J.Maxx or at the other shops where you can earn additional rewards.
- You tend to carry a balance on your credit cards (the APR on this card is extremely high).
TJX Rewards Platinum Card: Is It Worth It?
The TJX Rewards Platinum card might be good for those who often shop at T.J.Maxx, and at the other merchants where you can earn added rewards. Still, we have a tough time recommending the TJX Rewards credit cards from Synchrony Bank for many reasons.
Yes, the perks seem pretty decent, but cardholders can only earn maximum benefits and use the rewards certificates at TJX stores, which severely limits purchasing options.
Furthermore (and probably most importantly), the fees on this card are extremely high, especially the APR, which is currently above 30%, and the late payment fee, which is $38.
If you aren’t sure whether you can pay off your card in full every month, this could put you in serious debt — and fast. Some of the card’s many poor reviews stated that they were mistakenly charged interest and, due to poor customer service, struggled to have these charges removed.
That being said, if you’re a responsible cardholder who fully pays off your card on time every month and you regularly shop at the TJX family of stores, then you could certainly benefit from the TJX Rewards credit cards. If you do get the card, make sure to monitor your account monthly and always pay your bill on time.
If you still believe a TJX Rewards credit card is right for you, you can apply online here or in-store.
Hot Tip:
There are technically 3 cards you can get via TJX: the TJX Rewards Platinum card, the TJX Rewards® World Mastercard®, and the TJX Rewards® Credit Card. You submit 1 application and are initially considered for the TJX Rewards Platinum card, as this card has slightly higher qualification criteria. If you don’t qualify, you will then be automatically considered for the TJX Rewards card. You can’t simply apply for the TJX Rewards World card. Instead, certain Platinum accounts may be upgraded over time.

Cardholders earn 1 point per $1 everywhere else Mastercard is accepted.

Best Ways To Earn and Redeem TJX Rewards
The best way to earn rewards, simply put, is to shop at T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, and the other stores that offer elevated rewards.
Once you earn 1,000 or 2,000 points (depending on your preference), these points are automatically redeemed for a $10 or $20 reward certificate. The reward certificate is only valid for use within the TJX family, either in stores or online.
Alternative Cards to the TJX Rewards Platinum Card
There are many other quality cash-back rewards cards out there. Many of these cards have excellent reviews and can earn you significant returns in major categories, such as groceries, gas, and even some department stores. Plus, they’re true cash-back cards, meaning you can use your earnings any way you want.
If you’re a frequent shopper, you should appreciate that you can earn 3% U.S. online retail purchases, meaning you can get a solid return when shopping on tjmaxx.com and other online shops. You can also get 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets and 3% cash-back at U.S. gas stations. (All of these 3% categories are capped at $6,000 annually, then you’ll get 1% back.)
Just like the TJX Rewards Platinum card, this card has a $0 annual fee (rates & fees). However, your rewards are more flexible, coming in the form of a statement credit that applies to any and all purchases, not just those made at TJX stores.
If you’re looking for a premium card with transferable rewards that allows you to earn 2x miles on every purchase (including at TJX stores), consider the Capital One Venture X card.
Although it has a much higher annual fee, your rewards are infinitely more flexible when it’s time to redeem them — you can transfer them to partners or book travel via Capital One Travel. Plus, it comes with perks like a $300 annual travel credit on bookings made through Capital One Travel, unlimited access to more than 1,300 airport lounges worldwide, including the fancy Capital One Lounge locations and Priority Pass lounges upon enrollment, 10,000 bonus miles each year for your account anniversary, and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit.
