Although ANA is a member of Star Alliance, it also has several strategic non-alliance partnerships, including one with Virgin Atlantic. Thanks to this special partnership, you can book ANA business class through the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club loyalty program.

Virgin Atlantic has a separate zone-based award chart for ANA-operated flights. From the Western U.S., you can book a one-way business class award for 52,500 points or a first class award for 72,500 points. From the central and eastern U.S., these rates are priced a bit higher at 60,000 and 85,000 points, respectively.

This redemption is consistently one of the most valuable ways to use points and miles, particularly from the West Coast. Cash prices for ANA business class routinely exceed $3,000.

Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to earn Virgin Atlantic Flying Club points. There are multiple ways to book Qatar Airways Qsuites, but one of the simplest is through Qatar Airways Privilege Club, the airline’s loyalty program.

Nonstop one-way awards between the U.S. and Doha (DOH) can be booked for 70,000 Avios per person, plus taxes and fees.

3. Japan Airlines Business Class Between the U.S. and Japan for 60K Points

Since Japan Airlines is a member of the Oneworld alliance, there are several airline loyalty programs you can use to book Japan Airlines business class awards, including its very own Mileage Bank program. However, the real sweet spot here is through American Airlines AAdvantage.

Although AAdvantage uses dynamic pricing for its own flights (meaning price depends on demand), the program has an award chart for most partner airlines. One of the sweet spots on the AAdvantage partner award chart is for flights between the U.S. and Asia Region 1, which includes Japan and Korea.

You can book a one-way business class flight between the U.S. and the Asia 1 region for just 60,000 miles. This is an excellent value, as Japan Airlines business class tickets typically sell for upwards of $3,000 one-way.

Award space can be difficult to find, but it’s possible if you have flexible travel dates, especially at the last minute.

Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has good deals if you know where to look, including one of the cheapest economy award flights between the U.S. and Europe. Pricing varies by date and demand, but saver economy award tickets can be booked for as low as 6,000 points one-way, plus taxes and fees.

Taxes and fees are relatively high compared to many other programs, but the mileage requirement more than makes up for it. Being able to fly to Europe and back to the U.S. for just 12,000 Flying Club points and a few hundred dollars in taxes and fees is a solid redemption.
