I’m perfectly happy with my mid-tier Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and I didn’t expect to find myself with another premium Chase card. I had the Chase Sapphire Reserve® years ago, downgraded it, and figured I’d never need it again.

However, once the new Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ (and its massive 200,000-point welcome offer) was brought into the market this past summer, it definitely made me rethink my strategy.

As a small business owner with big World of Hyatt plans next year — including a family vacation at the swanky Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort and a push to requalify for top-tier Globalist status — this card lines up almost perfectly with how I plan to earn and redeem points in 2026.

Here’s why this card has my attention and why it’s one of most valuable additions to my wallet.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Business Card Overview

Before I dive into why I applied, let’s look at what makes the new Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card such a standout offering.

With an annual fee of $795, it’s Chase’s most premium business card. It combines features of the personal Chase Sapphire Reserve card and adds perks built specifically for small business owners like me.

Besides the massive welcome offer of 200,000 bonus points after you spend $30,000 in the first 6 months of account opening (which is obviously one of the biggest appeals of the card when I applied for it), the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card has an extensive collection of credits that add immense value, including:

Beyond the welcome offer and credits, the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card comes loaded with high-end perks: access to Chase Sapphire Lounges by The Club, Priority Pass, and 20 Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges (with 2 free guests), plus IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status. You also get strong built-in protections with primary auto rental coverage, trip cancellation insurance, extended warranty, and purchase protection, along with access to Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables on OpenTable and free employee cards.

If you’re a big spender, there’s another layer. Spending $120,000 in a calendar year unlocks IHG Diamond Elite, Southwest A-List status, a $500 Southwest credit through Chase Travel, and a $500 The Shops at Chase credit.

Pair that with strong earning rates of 8x on Chase Travel, 5x on Lyft, 4x on flights and hotels booked directly, 3x on social media and search ads, and 1x on everything else, and it’s a card that racks up points fast while delivering real value back to business owners.

1. This Welcome Offer Is Hard to Ignore

For starters, the most apparent attribute of the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card is the sky-high welcome bonus offer.

We value Chase Ultimate Rewards at about 2 cents each, so that bonus that I received clocks in at around $4,000 in travel value.

That’s before I factor in the points I’ll earn from meeting the minimum spending to earn the bonus. Once I hit the $30,000 spending requirement in 6 months to unlock the 200,000-point bonus, I’ll easily walk away with a minimum of 230,000 points total, which is more than $4,500 in value.

Meeting the spending minimum isn’t a big hurdle for me. As a 1099 business owner, I pay quarterly taxes with a credit card for a small fee, so it’s an easy way to knock out the spending requirement. It’s one of those rare big bonus offers that lines up perfectly with how I spend.

2. The Card Helps Me Requalify for Globalist

The second primary reason this card works for me is that World of Hyatt is a core hotel brand in my travel strategy.

I have already booked the Andaz Maui at Wailea for next year through a Globalist advance reservation. Hyatt allows top-tier Globalist members to reserve an award stay even if they don’t have the points yet. I just need to have them before checking in.

I’ll need points to cover the stay, and because I’m aiming to requalify for Globalist again, I know I’ll need to earn a lot of Hyatt points throughout 2026.

What makes World of Hyatt especially compelling is that award nights count toward elite status, even the low-category redemptions starting at 3,500 points per night. I can chip away at the 60-night requirement with affordable stays, rather than relying solely on paid nights. I also earn extra progress with The World of Hyatt Credit Card, which gives me 2 elite nights for every $5,000 I spend on it.

This is precisely why earning Chase Ultimate Rewards matters so much to me. Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer 1:1 to World of Hyatt. That’s consistently where I get the most value from my points, both for big trips like the Andaz Maui and for smaller, strategic stays that help me requalify for Globalist status.

My travel strategy has always relied on transferring Chase points to Hyatt, and the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card enables me to do just that. I can transfer points not just with the welcome bonus offer, but also with its long-term earning potential. Earning 4x on flights and hotels booked directly and 3x on the social and search ads I run for my business means I can keep my Hyatt balance growing throughout the year without changing my habits.

Although I plan to use the points earned from the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card to book numerous Hyatt stays in 2026, I’m also planning to earn Globalist status through credit card spending. With Globalist status, my redemptions will include upgrades, complimentary breakfast, and all the perks that make Hyatt stays feel elevated.

3. Bonus Points on Business Spending

I run a small award-booking service, which means I have a steady stream of business expenses every month. This includes everything from Google Workspace to manage my email, to Squarespace for the website, to the ads and social support I use to promote the service. Add in a handful of tools and subscriptions that keep things running, and the charges add up quickly.

Currently, that spending is spread across multiple cards, depending on bonus categories or if I’m working towards a new card’s welcome bonus offer, but I’d much rather streamline it.

Keeping all my business expenses on a single card makes year-end accounting far easier for my accountant — and ideally saves me a bit on my tax bill — while also keeping my business and personal spending clearly separated.

That’s where the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card comes in. It offers solid earning potential in categories I already spend heavily on — such as 3x on ads and 4x on flights and hotels — and allows me to keep all my business expenses in one place.

4. Easy-to-Maximize Annual Hotel Credits

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card offers up to $750 in hotel credits, which almost offsets the annual fee on its own. Based on my travel habits, I expect to easily maximize these credits.

Starting January 1, 2026, Chase is adding a new $250 annual hotel credit for prepaid stays at select brands booked through Chase Travel. The eligible list includes IHG Hotels & Resorts, Montage, Pendry, Omni, Virgin Hotels, Minor Hotels, and Pan Pacific.

I stay at IHG properties multiple times a year anyway, so this one’s a slam dunk. My wife and I do an annual stay at the Kimpton EPIC in Miami, where we had our wedding reception. That alone will unlock the full $250.

Additionally, I receive up to a $500 The Edit by Chase Travel credit, split into $250 credits (with a 2-night minimum required). It’s basically Chase’s equivalent to Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, with a curated mix of high-end properties offering cardholder perks such as daily breakfast for 2, a $100 property credit for dining, spa, or on-site activities, room upgrades at check-in when available, early check-in and late checkout when available, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

I travel enough that I expect to easily use both of these hotel credits each year. They’re straightforward, recurring savings on trips I’m already planning on taking, which is precisely why they carry so much weight for me heading into 2026.

5. The Business Credits Align With My Expenses

I spend a significant amount every month to keep my web-based business running, with expenses including Google Workspace for email and storage, Squarespace for my website, creative tools, ads, and social support.

That’s why these Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card credits feel like they’re built for how I already operate. The $200 Google Workspace credit is essentially a refund for something I use daily. The $400 ZipRecruiter credit (split into $200 in the first half of the year and $200 in the second half) will give me a real excuse to bring in some social media help, finally.

On top of that, I’m paying for web hosting, subscription platforms, scheduling tools, and CRM software — all the usual recurring costs of running a small business. Since I’m already spending the money, getting some of it back in the form of credits is always a plus. That’s real value, and it makes the annual fee a much easier pill to swallow.

Final Thoughts

The more I examine the Chase Sapphire Reserve Business card, the more it feels like the right fit for where my travel and business are headed next year. Sure, the 200,000-point welcome offer is a huge draw, but it’s really the whole package that convinced me it deserves a spot in my wallet.
