If you’re looking to build your EVA Air Infinity MileageLands balance, there are several ways to earn miles beyond simply flying with the carrier. This article explains all of the best ways to earn EVA Air miles, including partner flights, credit card points and miles transfers, hotel and rental car partners, and even everyday shopping.

Quick Overview: How To Earn EVA Air Miles

There are 2 major U.S. credit card rewards programs that allow transfers to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands. Eligible Citi ThankYou Rewards cards offer a 1:1 transfer ratio, while Capital One Miles transfer at a 2:1.5 ratio.

American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards do not transfer to EVA Air’s loyalty program. Citi ThankYou Rewards provides the best value with its straightforward 1:1 ratio.

You can also earn miles by flying EVA Air, UNI Air, and Star Alliance partner airlines, and as a rule of thumb, premium cabin fares generally earn more miles. There are additional earning opportunities beyond flying with certain hotel partners, car rental partners, hotel portals, and shopping partners.

If you’re just short of an award ticket, you can even purchase miles to top off your balance, though purchased miles are limited to 50% of an award’s mileage requirement.

If you end up flying on the highly rated EVA Air, you can accrue EVA Air miles easily.

For example, if you flew on a P-class ticket in premium economy from Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) to Taiwan Taoyuan International (TPE), which has a flight distance of 7,457 miles, you would earn 100% of those miles toward your account.

The earnings are even better if you hold elite status with Infinity MileageLands. Silver members earn a 15% bonus, and Gold and Diamond members earn a 25% bonus, totaling up to 8,576 and 9,321 miles, respectively.

6. Crediting Partner Airlines to EVA Air

EVA Air is in the Star Alliance, and that means you have a global network of airlines to accrue miles on, which means you can earn EVA Air miles all around the world.

There are different accrual charts with each airline partner. For example, check out the accrual chart for United Airlines flights (Source: EVA Air).

You can find each partner airline’s earnings structure on EVA’s website

To properly credit your partner flights to EVA Air, enter your Infinity MileageLands number when booking a ticket with any partners.

For example, let’s say you’re booking on United Airlines’ website. Once you select your flight, you have the option of entering a frequent flyer number. If you’re logged in with your United MileagePlus account, it will enter your MileagePlus number by default.

Here’s where you can enter your MileageLands number:

Additionally, EVA Air partners with Juneyao Air, a Star Alliance Connecting Partner.

Hot Tip:

If you’re having trouble figuring out other ways to credit your miles, learn where to credit your airline miles to maximize your earnings.

    13. Buy EVA Air Miles

Currently, the only way to earn EVA Air miles outside of the methods discussed above is by purchasing miles. This is usually best if you already have an award or upgrade redemption planned for an EVA Air or UNI Air international flight.

The main things you need to know are:

    1. You can’t purchase more than 50% of the miles required for the redemption you have in mind.
    2. You can purchase in multiples of 1,000 miles at a price of $40 for every 1,000 miles.

Unless you’ve got a specific redemption in mind and you’ve come up just short of the miles needed to top off your balance, we avoid recommending buying miles at these rates.

For example, let’s say you want to book an award ticket that costs 100,000 EVA Air miles. You have 90,000 EVA Air miles transferred from Citi ThankYou, but you still need 10,000. You can purchase 10,000 miles for $400 and book your award ticket immediately after the purchase.

    Final Thoughts

For U.S. travelers, the easiest way to rack up EVA Air Infinity MileageLands is by earning and redeeming Citi ThankYou Rewards points, offering the best 1:1 transfer ratio for eligible cards. Capital One can be a solid backup, though at a less favorable transfer ratio unless you encounter a transfer bonus. Otherwise, you primarily earn miles by flying EVA Air, UNI Air, and Star Alliance partner airlines, or any of the methods listed above.
