EVA Air, a Taiwanese airline headquartered in Taipei, is a subsidiary wholly owned by Evergreen Group, whose shipping containers you might have seen from time to time. This 5-star rated Skytrax airline is known for offering one of the best international business class products in the world.
Its first flight took off in July 1991, which makes EVA Air a very new airline. It has never suffered a single hull loss, accident, or fatality since commencing operations, but its relatively short history is what placed its ranking as 15th globally. In fact, many airlines place the safety practices and records of EVA Air in the same breath of Qantas, the world’s safest airline.
Known also for their Hello Kitty themes, EVA Air has tons of character to share with the entire world. There are a ton of unique ways to earn EVA Air miles, so let’s get started.

EVA has somewhat of a clunky website, but you can create an EVA Air Infinity MileageLands account by following these steps:
- Visit this EVA Air’s website.

- Verify your email by clicking the link sent to you after creating your account.

Whether it’s making award redemptions, earning from their hotel partners, or even buying miles to top off your balance and make an award redemption, your loyalty account will be instrumental.
Earn EVA Air Miles With Credit Cards
The first (and most intuitive) way to earn EVA Air miles is to transfer them from flexible rewards currencies. There aren’t as many ways to earn EVA Air miles as, say, Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles or Avianca LifeMiles, so keep that in mind.
Citi ThankYou Rewards Credit Cards
The single best way to earn EVA Air miles is by transferring Citi ThankYou points directly to EVA Air.
You’ll transfer Citi points at a simple 1:1 ratio and transfers take around 2 business days. Unfortunately, there has never been a transfer bonus from Citi like some other programs.
In order to earn Citi ThankYou points, you need to have a credit card linked to the ThankYou program. Furthermore, you also need to have a ThankYou earning card that allows airline transfers.
If you have a Citi Prestige® or Citi Premier℠ card, you can transfer Citi ThankYou points to airline partners, including EVA Air.
Examples of credit cards that are eligible to earn Citi ThankYou Rewards points but ineligible to transfer to airlines are the Citi Rewards+® Card or discontinued Citi ThankYou® Preferred credit cards. You can only redeem these for gift cards or statement credits at 1 cent per point.
Capital One Miles Credit Cards
Another great way to earn EVA Air miles is by transferring Capital One miles directly to EVA Air.
The transfer ratio is not as attractive as Citi, sitting at a 2:1.5 ratio, but there are still lots of ways to earn Capital One miles. This means that for every 1,000 Capital One miles transferred, you’ll earn 750 EVA Air miles.
Transfers to EVA Air from Capital One can take up to 36 hours, so keep that in mind when thinking about booking award travel.

Refer a Friend for Bonus Miles
Citi frequently sends out targeted offers to refer your friends and family to credit cards. Specifically, most of these referrals are for cardholders of the Citi Premier Card. You can earn 10,000 ThankYou points for each approval and a maximum of 5 referrals every 12 months.
If you’ve got lots of friends and family interested in the Citi Premier Card, you can earn up to 50,000 ThankYou points every year. That’s almost a welcome bonus!
Capital One has historically targeted a small group of cardholders for referral offers, but these instances have more frequently been the exception than the norm.

Earn Miles Through Travel

- Airfare/airline purchases
- Partner airfare
- Car rentals
- Car rental partners
- Hotel partners
- Hotel booking portals
- Travel agencies
Airfare and Airline Purchases
The most direct way to earn EVA Air miles is by flying on paid revenue tickets with EVA Air. Here is the accrual chart for EVA Air flights to earn Infinity MileageLands miles:

For example, if you flew on a P class ticket in premium economy from Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) to Taiwan Taoyuan International (TPE), which has a flight distance of 7,457 miles, you would earn 100% of those miles toward your account.
The earnings are even better if you hold elite status with Infinity MileageLands. Silver members will earn a 15% bonus and Gold/Diamond members will earn a 25% bonus, totaling up to 8,576 and 9,321 miles, respectively.
Crediting Partner Airlines to EVA Air
Although traveling to Taiwan should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list due to the rich culture, amazing food, and awesome nightlife, it may not be feasible for some travelers. Don’t fret, however, because crediting partner flights to EVA Air can be highly lucrative, too.
EVA Air is in the Star Alliance, and that means you’ll have a global network of airlines to accrue miles on, which means you can earn EVA Air miles all around the world.
EVA Air has different accrual charts with each airline partner. For example, check out the accrual chart for United Airlines flights:

Let’s say you’re booking on United Airlines’ website. Once you select your flight, you’ll have the option of entering a frequent flyer number. If you’re logged in with your United MileagePlus account, it will default enter your MileagePlus number. Here’s where you can enter your MileageLands number:

Hotel Booking Portals
There are tons of well-known booking portals that have partnerships with EVA Air. This is great because you can search for the best rate or the exact hotel you like on these portals and still earn miles!
EVA Air currently partners with these hotel booking portals:
Booking Portal | Earning Structure | Booking Portal | Earning Structure |
Agoda.com | 4 miles/NT$100 | Kaligo.com | From 15 miles/NT$100 |
Booking.com | 4 miles/NT$100 | Rocketmiles | From 500 to 10,000 miles/night |
Expedia.com.tw | 4 miles/NT$100 | Trip.com | From 4 miles/NT$100 |
In addition to regular earning schemes, you can also find yourself participating in a periodic promotion, such as PointsMAX through Agoda or PointsPLUS through Trip.com.
Be sure to double check that the hotel package you’re booking isn’t significantly more expensive than the cheapest available!
Travel Agencies
The very last travel-related method of earning EVA Air miles is by earning through “Travel Experience” (simply another way to say “travel agency”). Currently, EVA Air partners with 2 Taiwan-based travel agencies: KLOOK and EverFun Travel.
When booking eligible packages and experiences with KLOOK, you can earn 8 miles per NT$100 spent. This can be a great deal, considering NT$100 is approximately equal to $3. You can effectively earn 2.5 EVA Air miles on top of the regular earning you get from credit card spend with KLOOK.
When booking with EverFun Travel, you’ll earn more EVA Air miles when you spend more. Specifically,
- Spend between NT$15,000-34,999 and earn 500 miles
- Spend between NT$35,000-49,999 and earn 1,200 miles
- Spend NT$50,000+ and earn 3,000 miles
Bottom Line: If you’re on the market for booking a travel tour, consider double-dipping your earnings with EVA Air miles by booking through KLOOK or EverFun Travel. You can get a lot of miles by doing so!
Specialty Earnings for EVA Air
EVA Air has some unique partners to earn miles with. Additionally, EVA Air may provide other means of earning miles, known as specialty earnings. Let’s see what they have to offer.
Buy EVA Air Miles
Currently, the only way to earn EVA Air miles outside of the methods discussed above is by purchasing miles, valid if you have an award or upgrade redemption planned for an EVA Air or UNI Air international flight.
The main things you’ll need to know are:
- You can’t purchase more than half (50%) of the miles required for the redemption you have in mind.
- You can purchase in multiple of 1,000 miles at a price of $40 for every 1,000 miles.
This is a terrible deal unless you’ve got a specific redemption in mind and you’ve come up just short in miles and need to top off your balance.
For example, let’s say you want to book an award ticket that costs 100,000 EVA Air miles. You have 90,000 EVA Air miles transferred from Citi ThankYou Rewards and still need 10,000. You can purchase 10,000 miles for $400 total and book your award ticket immediately after buying miles.
Final Thoughts
EVA Air Infinity MileageLands miles is an underrated frequent flyer program. There are a number of great ways to earn EVA Air miles and a lot of awesome ways to redeem miles for outsized value.
