Key Takeaways

  • EVA Air miles are earned through flights on EVA Air and Star Alliance partners, with bonuses for business and first-class travel.
  • The best way to earn EVA miles is to earn Citi ThankYou Points and transfer them to your EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Account.
  • You can also earn miles with select car rental companies, hotel booking portals, and hotel partners.

EVA Air, a Taiwanese airline headquartered in Taipei, is a subsidiary wholly owned by Evergreen Group, whose shipping containers you might have seen from time to time. This 5-star rated Skytrax airline is known for offering one of the best international business class products in the world.

Its first flight took off in July 1991, which makes EVA Air a very new airline. It has never suffered a single hull loss, accident, or fatality since commencing operations, but its relatively short history is what placed its ranking as 15th globally. In fact, many airlines place the safety practices and records of EVA Air in the same breath as Qantas, the world’s safest airline.

Known also for its Hello Kitty themes, EVA Air has tons of characters to share with the entire world. There are several unique ways to earn EVA Air miles, so let’s get started.

Sign Up for an EVA Air Infinity MileageLands Account

EVA Air’s loyalty program is called Infinity MileageLands.

EVA has somewhat of a clunky website, but you can create an EVA Air Infinity MileageLands account by following these steps:

  1. Visit EVA Air’s website.
  2. Type in your personal information, including gender, name, nationality, date of birth, and more.
  3. Verify your email by clicking the link sent to you after creating your account.
  4. Enter the verification code from the email to fully activate your Infinity MileageLands Account.
  5. Write down your Infinity MileageLands number. You can also consent to register your email in order to make it easier to log in.

After creating your Infinity MileageLands account, you will need to link it to any activity you expect to earn miles from. Whether it’s making award redemptions, earning from their hotel partners, or even buying miles to top off your balance and make an award redemption, your loyalty account will be instrumental.

Earn EVA Air Miles With Credit Cards

The first (and most intuitive) way to earn EVA Air miles is to transfer them from flexible rewards currencies. There aren’t as many ways to earn EVA Air miles as, say, Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles or Avianca LifeMiles, so keep that in mind.

1. Citi ThankYou Rewards Credit Cards

The single best way to earn EVA Air miles is by transferring Citi ThankYou Points directly to EVA Air.

You’ll transfer Citi ThankYou Points at a simple 1:1 ratio and transfers take around 2 business days. Unfortunately, there has never been a transfer bonus from Citi like some other programs.

In order to earn Citi ThankYou Points, you need to have a credit card linked to the ThankYou Rewards program. Furthermore, you also need to have a ThankYou Points-earning card that allows airline transfers, such as the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card.

2. Capital One Miles Credit Cards

Another great way to earn EVA Air miles is by transferring Capital One miles directly to EVA Air.

The transfer ratio is not as attractive as Citi, sitting at a 2:1.5 ratio, but there are still lots of ways to earn Capital One miles. This means that for every 1,000 Capital One miles transferred, you’ll earn 750 EVA Air miles.

Transfers to EVA Air from Capital One can take up to 36 hours, so keep that in mind when thinking about booking award travel.

One of the best ways to earn EVA Air miles is to leverage the power of travel, whether it’s directly on EVA Air or booking tours with EVA Air partners. There are several categories of accrual through travel-related purchases on EVA Air.

5. Airfare and Airline Purchases

The most direct way to earn EVA Air miles is by flying on paid revenue tickets with EVA Air. Here is the accrual chart for EVA Air flights to earn Infinity MileageLands miles:

If you end up flying on EVA Air, which offers some of the best products in the business, you can accrue EVA Air miles easily.

For example, if you flew on a P-class ticket in premium economy from Chicago O’Hare International (ORD) to Taiwan Taoyuan International (TPE), which has a flight distance of 7,457 miles, you would earn 100% of those miles toward your account.

The earnings are even better if you hold elite status with Infinity MileageLands. Silver members will earn a 15% bonus and Gold/Diamond members will earn a 25% bonus, totaling up to 8,576 and 9,321 miles, respectively.

6. Crediting Partner Airlines to EVA Air

Although traveling to Taiwan should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list due to the rich culture, amazing food, and awesome nightlife, it may not be feasible for some travelers. Don’t fret, however, because crediting partner flights to EVA Air can be highly lucrative, too.

EVA Air is in the Star Alliance, and that means you’ll have a global network of airlines to accrue miles on, which means you can earn EVA Air miles all around the world.

EVA Air has different accrual charts with each airline partner. For example, check out the accrual chart for United Airlines flights:

Find each individual airline’s earning structures on EVA’s website. To credit your partner flights to EVA Air, you’ll need to enter your Infinity MileageLands number when booking a ticket with any partners.

Let’s say you’re booking on United Airlines’ website. Once you select your flight, you’ll have the option of entering a frequent flyer number. If you’re logged in with your United MileagePlus account, it will enter your MileagePlus number by default. Here’s where you can enter your MileageLands number:

Additionally, EVA Air partners with Juneyao Air, a Star Alliance Connecting Partner.

With utu, members can earn 31.25x miles for every $1 of tax refunded to the utu Tax Free Card. When you’ve accumulated over $1,500 worth of receipts refunded to your utu Tax Free Card you’ll qualify for 250 Bonus Award Miles.

Specialty Earnings for EVA Air

13. Buy EVA Air Miles

Currently, the only way to earn EVA Air miles outside of the methods discussed above is by purchasing miles, valid if you have an award or upgrade redemption planned for an EVA Air or UNI Air international flight.

The main things you’ll need to know are:

  1. You can’t purchase more than half (50%) of the miles required for the redemption you have in mind.
  2. You can purchase in multiple of 1,000 miles at a price of $40 for every 1,000 miles.

This is a terrible deal unless you’ve got a specific redemption in mind and you’ve come up just short in miles and need to top off your balance.

For example, let’s say you want to book an award ticket that costs 100,000 EVA Air miles. You have 90,000 EVA Air miles transferred from Citi ThankYou Rewards and still need 10,000. You can purchase 10,000 miles for $400 total and book your award ticket immediately after buying miles.
