What Counts and Doesn’t Count as a Dell Purchase

To use the Dell credit, you need to make qualifying purchases.

According to American Express, Dell credits are “valid only on purchases made directly with Dell Technologies or at dell.com in the U.S. and U.S. territories where Dell Technologies is the merchant of record for the purchase. [The credits are not valid for] online purchases shipped outside the U.S. and from unauthorized resellers or online auctioneers.” In addition, Dell gift cards do not count.

Statement credits can take 2 to 4 weeks to post.

Remember, you can use up to 3 payment methods on each Dell order, potentially enabling you to get $1,200 in Dell credits annually or $600 in Dell credits in 1 transaction.

On dell.com, you must click Add Another Payment Method under Split your payment at the bottom of the payment step.

Hot Tip:

Keep in mind that the inventory and prices of items at Dell constantly fluctuate. Although we make a reasonable effort to ensure pricing is constantly updated, these fluctuations may not be wholly captured in our article.

The 11 Best Things You Can Buy With a $200 Dell Credit

In each of the first and second halves of the calendar year, you receive $200 in Dell credits.

Here are some fabulous things you can get at Dell with a $200 Dell credit:

1. Garmin Forerunner 55

Make your morning runs safer and more efficient with a product like the Garmin Forerunner 55

It has 2 weeks of battery life, health tracking, cadence alerts, and even stress monitoring. It features the Garmin Coach, which has customizable training plans you can tailor to your goals.

One of our favorite features is a safeguard called Incident Detection. Designed to help protect you in the event of an emergency, Garmin’s GPS will notify your chosen emergency contacts if it detects sudden and abrupt deceleration. If you’re feeling unsafe you can activate this manually.

The Garmin Forerunner 55 is $199.99, making this an excellent use of your credit.

2. Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller

Did you know your credit would cover the cost of up to 3 new Xbox controllers?

That’s right: For just $59.99, you can purchase the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller, which is compatible with PC, Microsoft Xbox One, Android, Microsoft Xbox Series S, and Microsoft Xbox Series X.

The controller features Bluetooth technology, up to 40 hours of battery life, custom mapping, and more.

3. Adobe Acrobat 1 Year and TurboTax Deluxe Plus State 2023 Bundle

Intuit TurboTax Deluxe with State

With tax season upon us, this eligible purchase is an obvious choice. The Adobe Acrobat and TurboTax Deluxe Bundle includes 5 federal e-files and 1 state via download.

This 1-year subscription to Adobe Acrobat Standard bundled with the resources and streamlining of TurboTax takes the guesswork — and inevitable headache — out of this year’s tax season. With TurboTax’s downloadable software, you can avoid mistakes by importing your tax documents, your investments, and your mortgage information to check for missing deductions or credits.

At $225.99, the Dell credit doesn’t cover it entirely, but $200 off is an 88% discount — nothing to scoff at!

4. Logitech Brio 4K UHD Webcam

The Brio 4K UHD Webcam from Logitech offers a full 4K UHD resolution of 4096×2160 with 5x zoom and HDR. In layman’s terms, it’s exceptional.

With RightLight 3 Technology and HDR to auto-adjust, this webcam can handle what others are notoriously inept with: low light. It has 3 different settings for the field of view, the ability to use facial recognition, and a shutter for privacy.

It has a $199.99 price tag, which pushes the value of the credit to the very last cent. This is great for anyone who wants to elevate their video quality while working remotely.

5. ION Explorer XL Bluetooth, 220-Watt, All-Weather Speaker With Premium 5-Speaker Sound

A 120-hour rechargeable battery, Bluetooth 5.0 that allows connectivity up to 100 feet away, and an impressive 220-watt, 5-way speaker system propels the ION Explorer XL All Weather speaker above the rest. It’s not your average portable speaker, it’s water-resistant, and, most importantly, it’s loud.

For $179.99, it’s well within your biannual Dell credit, and you could be powering the party anytime, anywhere without the hassle of bulky equipment and tangled wires.

6. Aluratek 11.6-Inch Wi-Fi Photo Frame With Live Video Chat and 16 GB Memory

It’s an ideal holiday gift no matter the season!

The $199.99 cash price meets the Dell credit limit nicely but hardly reflects the priceless memories held and created by staying connected to your loved ones.

7. Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Plus With Motion-Activated 1080p HD Video

The floodlight cam is designed for large areas and is fitted with a siren, which is just about the last thing an intruder wants to hear. Like other Ring devices, it has 2-way talking and motion-activated notifications. The safety of your home is invaluable, but using your Dell credit on this product means it won’t break the bank, either.

It’s $199.99 to protect yourself from porch pirates and unwelcome visitors.

8. Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube

If you’re feeling uninspired by your home, consider the Philips Hue Play Gradient Light Tube. It’s smartphone and TV compatible, synchronizing to music or extending an ambient glow based on what you’re watching on screen. This light bar elevates any space and transforms any room into a stunning display of color.

This is better than a coat of paint. You’d be cashing in on $199.99 of your Dell credit in exchange for your home becoming a stunning display of color.

Happen to be operating a partnership, corporation, LLC, trust, or estate? With TurboTax Business, you can take care of your federal filing needs with this tax preparation software suite.

It includes 5 federal e-files, though you can also purchase business state files via download.

Again, the primary purpose of this software is to help businesses make compliant filings, like:

  • Prepare unlimited W-2 and 1099 tax forms for employees and contractors
  • Import data from QuickBooks Desktop income and expense accounts (classifies data for you, too)
  • Create K-1 forms electronically
  • Calculate and report asset depreciation
  • Flag areas that might trigger an IRS audit

Be sure to keep in mind that TurboTax Business covers business filings only — you still need to file your personal taxes.

You can get this for $179.99.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I buy with an American Express Dell credit?

You can buy a lot of things with your Dell credit. As long as your purchase is made directly with Dell or via Dell.com in the U.S. or U.S. territories and any online purchases are shipped within the U.S., your purchase will qualify for Dell credits.

Remember that Dell gift cards don’t count.

How does an Amex statement credit work?

This particular benefit requires enrollment. You will need to log into your online American Express account, select your Amex Business Platinum card, and head over to the Benefits section.

Then, you need to enroll in the Shop Dell with Business Platinum benefit.

What is a $200 statement credit?

A $200 statement credit is essentially a refund of up to $200 on qualifying purchases.

The definition of qualifying purchases will vary depending on the terms and conditions of the statement credit.

Does the Amex Business Platinum card get Uber credit?

No, it does not. The only cards that get the Uber credit are the consumer varieties of The Platinum Card® from American Express, including the American Express Platinum Card® for Schwab and The Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley. The business version, also known as the Amex Business Platinum card, doesn’t get the Uber credit.

Is the Amex Business Platinum card worth it?

Ultimately, it’s a judgment call to make for yourself. However, based on the numerous benefits you may enjoy, we’d say that it’s pretty worth it.

How does a statement credit work?

A statement credit behaves a lot like a refund. You simply charge your card on a qualifying purchase, wait a few weeks, and see that a credit was issued to your account.

This essentially acts as a refund, except you don’t need to return anything. It’s like free money!
