World of Hyatt

But do all of the perks justify the $199 annual fee on this business card? Let’s find out.

Earning Potential

1. Earn Bonus World of Hyatt Points

With the World of Hyatt Business card, you can earn up to 9x points for Hyatt stays — 4x points from eligible purchases made with the card at Hyatt hotels, plus 5x base points at most properties just for being a World of Hyatt member (2.5x points at Hyatt Studio hotels).

You also earn 2x points on your top 3 spending categories each quarter — no enrollment or prior activation needed. The card automatically tracks your spending and rewards the highest categories, making it especially valuable for business owners with diverse expenses:

  • Dining
  • Shipping
  • Flights, when purchased directly with the airline
  • Local transit and commuting
  • Social media and search engine advertising
  • Car rental agencies
  • Gas stations
  • Internet, cable, and phone services

Outside of those bonus categories, there are a few ways to earn Hyatt points. You earn 2x points on fitness club and gym memberships and 1x points on all other eligible card purchases.

2. Earn up to $100 in Hyatt Credits Annually

The World of Hyatt Business card provides tangible ways to recoup the $199 annual fee. Each cardmember year (which is based on your account opening date), you receive up to $100 in Hyatt credits annually.

The credits are divided into 2 $50 statement credits. You earn a $50 credit by spending $50 or more at any Hyatt property with the card, up to twice per cardmember year.

Maximizing the full value of these credits should be effortless, even if you’re staying at a hotel with points. Whether you’re paying for room service, drinks at the hotel lobby, or spa services, just charge it to the World of Hyatt Business card to get your statement credits.

3. Receive a 10% Rebate of Points With Eligible Card Spend

The World of Hyatt Business card also offers lesser-known perks that add value with little effort. Once you spend $50,000 on the card in a calendar year, you get 10% of your redeemed points back for the rest of that year — up to a maximum of 200,000 points redeemed. This includes redemptions for free nights, Points + Cash stays, room upgrades, dining and spa services, and World of Hyatt Experiences.

This is a fantastic benefit for high-spending business owners looking to stretch their rewards further. For instance, if you hit the $50,000 spending mark and redeem 500,000 points for Hyatt stays within the year, you’d get 50,000 points back, earning even more points for your next hotel stay and making this card even more rewarding.

4. No Annual Fee for Employee Cards

Chase makes it simple to extend card benefits to trusted employees. You can add authorized user cards to your account at no extra annual cost, and any purchases made with those cards earn points for you — the primary cardholder — based on the same earning structure above.

Hotel Stay Benefits

Here’s how the World of Hyatt Business card can help level up your next hotel stay.

4. Automatic Elite Status

You have automatic World of Hyatt Discoverist status as long as you hold the card. And if that’s not enough, you can give this level of status to up to 5 employees in your company — just make sure they’ve signed up for a free World of Hyatt account. They don’t have to be authorized users of your World of Hyatt card to get this elite status level!

As a refresher, the World of Hyatt program has multiple tiers once you reach a certain number of qualifying nights annually:

  • Member: 0 to 9 nights
  • Discoverist: 10 to 29 nights or 25,000 base points earned
  • Explorist: 30 to 59 nights or 50,000 base points earned
  • Globalist: 60 or more nights or 100,000 base points earned

Remember that you earn 5x base points at nearly all Hyatt brands except for Hyatt Studios, where you earn 2.5x base points. Thanks to the automatic Discoverist status, you skip the usual requirements of 10 elite-qualifying nights or earning 25,000 base points (or spending $5,000 with Hyatt) in a calendar year.

At the Discoverist level, your benefits include 10% bonus points on eligible Hyatt purchases, access to premium internet, complimentary bottled water, a preferred room upgrade available at check-in, access to the elite check-in desk, and, perhaps the best perk, 2 p.m. late checkout.

5. Spend Your Way to Elite Status

The World of Hyatt Business card comes with automatic Discoverist status, but what if you’re aiming for even more elite perks? To reach Explorist or Globalist status, you need to earn 30 or 60 tier-qualifying nights, respectively.

The card offers a way to get there: You earn 5 tier-qualifying nights for every $10,000 you spend on the card within a calendar year. That means you could unlock Explorist status by spending $60,000 annually — or go all the way to Globalist status with $120,000 in yearly spending — without ever setting foot in a Hyatt property.

This unique perk is ideal for business owners with high expenses, though many travelers can combine card spending with actual hotel stays to strategically earn elite status faster.

Hot Tip:

Globalist is one of the most coveted elite status levels in travel. From complimentary breakfast to 4 p.m. checkout to free parking on award nights, travelers can save a ton of money on their Hyatt stays.

6. Complimentary Hyatt Leverage Membership

This business card also includes complimentary access to Hyatt Leverage — a valuable program for managing company travel. With Hyatt Leverage, you can get up to 15% off standard rates at participating hotels worldwide and easily organize multiple employee itineraries on a single platform.

As the program’s administrator, you also earn 2 qualifying nights for every $5,000 spent (up to $150,000 annually) on eligible room bookings through Hyatt Leverage, helping you get even closer to elite status.

Bottom Line:

Unlike its personal counterpart, The World of Hyatt Credit Card, the World of Hyatt Business card doesn’t include annual free night certificates. However, dedicated Hyatt fans can hold both cards to maximize benefits across the board.
