With the holidays and the end of the year approaching, things tend to get more hectic throughout most of America.

Schedules get busier, time seems to move faster, and many people find themselves spending a little bit more on their credit cards as they buy gifts for family, friends, and colleagues.

On most days, credit card issuers are competing for that increased spending, but today Chase announced a way for you to spend a little bit less on your holiday shopping.

The Offer

With this sale on gift cards, you can save on holiday gifts for your whole family from Nike. From a new pair of shoes to a warm winter jacket, Nike has what you need for everyone on your list.

Chase is having a sale on a limited number of gift card redemptions for customers who have a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card.

If you use your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to redeem for a gift card through your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card account, you can save 10% on the following 4 gift card merchants:

REI – An outdoor services and products company, REI specializes in camping gear, travel products, clothing, and outdoor sports equipment. They also offer classes and workshops for outdoor activities.

Nike – A sports company through and through, Nike produces and sells everything related to sports. From shoes and clothing to equipment and accessories, they are sure to have whatever you need for the athlete in your family.

Saks – Saks Fifth Avenue is one of the oldest luxury department stores in America. Their product offering is hugely varied and ranges from clothes to luggage to high-end jewelry and perfumes. Saks also operates an outlet chain called Saks Off 5th, which offers luxury products at lower prices.

Whole Foods – A supermarket chain featuring products without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, Whole Foods Market is well known for their delicious holiday treats. Recently purchased by Amazon, Whole Foods has lowered prices and expanded their product offering to include some Amazon electronics products as well.

Chase has said that this sale will run through the end of December, but there are limited quantities of gift cards available. That means if you are interested in redeeming for a specific type of card, you are better off doing it sooner rather than later.

This gift card sale does work if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card as well, but you should note that this sale does not apply to the no-fee Sapphire card or any of Chase’s other card products.

Final Thoughts

Although buying gift cards isn’t by any means the highest value you can get when redeeming your Ultimate Rewards points, there are times when it makes sense.

The holidays can be a tight time for many people financially. If you have a large stash of Ultimate Rewards points sitting around, this could be a great opportunity to use some of them in place of the cash you would normally spend.

Yes, the primary reason most of us collect miles and points is to see the world for less…but if we can use them to save money when we need it, that’s a solid reason for collecting points too.

If you need a gift or some holiday food from any of the merchants that are on sale, it’s definitely worth considering using the Ultimate Rewards points you’ve earned with your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to reduce the cost!

Hopefully, this gift card sale will help you to have a happy holiday season.
