We have found some exceptionally cheap business-class award fares in late 2024 and early 2025 to Dublin from several East Coast cities.

For just 45,000 miles plus taxes and fees, you can hop over to Ireland in lie-flat seats from Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), New York-Kennedy (JFK), and Washington, D.C. (IAD).

Those fares are for travel on Irish airline Aer Lingus and can be booked on Alaska Airlines.

Let’s take a look at the details and the best ways to book.

Award Deal — Details

If you’re looking for a cheap award seat to Ireland at the front end of the plane, then this is about as good as it gets.

On multiple dates from now through February 2025, you can fly across the ocean to the Irish capital for 45,000 Alaska Airlines miles and $19 in taxes and fees, one way. Award seats to Europe can cost more than that in economy class with other programs!

You will need to head over to the Alaska Airlines site and, if you do not have 1 already, open a free account with Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan.

Make sure to tick the “Flexible dates” and “Use miles” boxes to see a calendar of award fares.

Here are the specifics of the fares:

  • Class: Business
  • Routes: Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), New York-Kennedy (JFK), and Washington, D.C. (IAD) to Dublin (DUB) nonstop on Aer Lingus
  • Dates: November 2024 to February 2025
  • Fares: 45,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles + $19 taxes and fees

Here are the dates available in January 2025 from Boston (BOS):

Availability is much spottier out of New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C. (IAD) unfortunately:

If you want to compare multiple airports at once, though, you could use a tool like Seats.aero to find availability across a range of dates:

Hot Tip:

If you have a stash of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles, you can use them to book award seats on many partner airlines, not just Aer Lingus. Head over to our article on the best ways to redeem Alaska Mileage Plan miles for max value and explore the many possible uses for Alaska’s very valuable miles.

Best Ways To Book

Your best bet here is redeeming Alaska Airlines miles to pay 45,000 miles per person plus $19 in taxes and fees.

Using a travel credit card that will reward you for booking flights is a good idea not just when buying a cash flight. Many of those cards offer travel protections that will cover your expenses in the event of a delay or cancellation. Using one to pay the taxes and fees on an award ticket will trigger those protections, in case you need them.

For example, The Platinum Card® from American Express will earn you 5x points per dollar spent on flights when booked through the AmexTravel.com portal or directly with the airline (up to $500,000 per year, then 1x points). That includes the taxes and fees you would pay on an award seat.

If you are looking for a way to build up your balance of Alaska Airlines miles, you might consider the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card. The card is currently offering a solid welcome bonus: Get 60,000 bonus miles plus a $0 Companion Fare ($0 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) after you make $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days.

Final Thoughts

Ireland in winter is usually nowhere near as cold as the East Coast of the U.S., and you’ll find few places with warmer people than an Irish pub in winter.

If you fancy getting there in a lie-flat seat, especially on an Aer Lingus jet with a gorgeous Irish shamrock painted on the tail, then this award seat sale is for you. Just head over to the Alaska Airlines site and explore available dates.

The information regarding the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card was independently collected by Upgraded Points and not provided nor reviewed by the issuer.
