Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

We have found some exceptionally cheap business-class award fares to Dublin departing from New York and Boston for early 2025.

Starting at 45,000 miles plus taxes and fees, you can hop over to Ireland in Aer Lingus’ lie-flat business class. That means you’ll be flying with Aer Lingus, but you’ll save a ton of miles by booking with a different airline.

Let’s take a look at the details and the best ways to book.

Award Deal — Details

If you’re seeking an affordable award seat to Ireland at the front of the plane, this is the best option available.

On multiple dates in January and February 2025, you can fly across the ocean to the Irish capital for as little as 45,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles plus $18 in taxes and fees each way. Other award programs can sometimes charge this amount for seats in economy!

Here are the specifics of the fares:

  • Class: Business
  • Availability: Up to 4 seats
  • Routes: Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), and New York-Kennedy (JFK) to Dublin (DUB) nonstop on Aer Lingus
  • Dates: January to February 2025
  • Fares: 45,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles plus $18 taxes and fees

The best availability is out of Boston (BOS). However, there is fantastic availability out of New York City (JFK) and Newark (EWR), with all cities pricing out at 45,000 miles per person.

If you’re flying from further afield, Aer Lingus also services multiple airports on the West Coast, in the middle of the U.S., and several airports in Canada. You’ll pay 55,000-70,000 miles per person on these routes, depending on distance.

Hot Tip:

Alaska Mileage Plan miles have been historically difficult to accumulate; however, the merger of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines has simplified the process. You can now earn Alaska miles by transferring them from the Amex Membership Rewards program to Hawaiian’s HawaiianMiles program and then to Alaska’s Mileage Plan program at a 1:1 ratio.

Best Ways To Book

The cheapest price is paying 45,000 miles per person flying from Newark, New York City, or Boston to Dublin. You’ll also pay $19 in taxes and fees.

Considering that British Airways Executive Club, the loyalty program used by Aer Lingus for award ticket bookings, is charging 50,000 Avios for this same flight plus higher taxes and fees, you’re better off booking through Alaska.

You can use a site like Seats.aero to search a range of dates and routes at once to help you find availability.

Using a travel credit card that will reward you for booking flights is a good idea not just when buying a cash flight. Many of those cards offer travel protections that will cover your expenses in the event of a delay or cancellation. Using one of these to pay the taxes and fees on an award ticket will trigger those protections in case you need them.

You also should use a card that rewards you for airfare purchases when it’s time to pay the taxes and fees on award tickets. For example, The Platinum Card® from American Express earns 5x points per $1 spent on flights when booked through the AmexTravel.com portal or directly with the airline (up to $500,000 of these purchases annually, then 1x points). That includes the taxes and fees you would pay on an award seat. Plus, these Membership Rewards can transfer to HawaiianMiles and then Alaska Mileage Plan to help you make more award bookings in the future.

Final Thoughts

There’s never a bad time to visit Ireland. If a trip to Dublin has been on your mind, Alaska Mileage Plan has great availability to help you fly there in style and comfort, paying as few as 45,000 miles per person to fly in lie-flat business class. We don’t expect this availability to stick around long, so booking soon is a good idea.
