Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

As the peak summer travel season winds down, fall and winter travel deals start to come out of the woodwork. As first reported by Frequent Miler, Delta has an economy class flash sale to hop across the pond from 40,000 miles round-trip.

While this is flying in the back of the plane, it’s still worth taking a look for travelers who have a stash of SkyMiles and are looking to visit London. Here are the details.

Delta Flash Sale Details

Here are some important things to note about this flash sale:

  • Prices start at 40,000 Delta SkyMiles round-trip in economy.
  • The sale prices are valid for dates from fall onwards, with the best availability from mid-September through mid-December and again from mid-January through March.
  • Most major (and even secondary) airports qualify for this deal.

In order to find these flights, you’ll first want to navigate to Delta’s website or app. From there, you can enter your travel information, including destination and dates of travel.

If your balance of SkyMiles is low, you can always top off your account since Delta is an American Express transfer partner at a 1:1 ratio.

Additionally, those who have a Delta American Express credit card can save even more points since these cards offer a 15% discount on award flights.

One thing to note is that travel to Europe in the shoulder season can be a good deal using cash too, so comparing SkyMiles pricing to cash fares may make sense.

Hot Tip:

Not only will your Delta award booking get a 15% discount as a Delta American Express cardholder, but you’ll also earn Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs), Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs), and Medallion Qualification Segments (MQMs). Check out our guide to the best ways to qualify for Delta Medallion elite status.

Final Thoughts

At the moment, award availability is fairly widespread, so if you don’t mind flying to Europe in economy, this is a solid deal using SkyMiles. As mentioned, don’t forget to check fares in cash to see if you’re getting good value out of your miles.
