BOS Airport Terminals

Boston Logan International Airport has 4 terminals — A, B, C, and E — situated at the north, south, and east ends of the airport.

A loop exits I-90, providing vehicle access to all terminals and the parking garages that are opposite them.

Walkways connect the terminals, some within the secure area and others outside it.

Terminal A

Terminal A sits on the eastern side of BOS, closest to the harbor, and handles mostly domestic flights operated by Delta Air Lines. It has easy access to parking, the airport roadway system, and ground transportation, but it’s the only terminal at BOS that is not connected to the other terminals.

Level 1: Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation

Terminal A arrivals are on the lower level, with baggage carousels, a pet relief area, and access to ground transportation.

Level 2: Ticketing and Gates A1 to A11

Delta Air Lines ticketing desks are on level 2, with 2 security checkpoints: one centrally located within the terminal and another at the east end.

Gates A1 to A11 are in the immediate concourse after security, with several shops and restaurants. As you arrive from the security checkpoint, gates A1 to A6 are to the right and gates A7 to A11 are to the left. A Delta Sky Club is opposite gate A7 on level 3.

Escalators between gates A6 and A7 provide access to the underground walkway leading to the satellite concourse.

Satellite Concourse

Once passengers walk through the underground tunnel (with moving walkways), they arrive at the central area of the satellite terminal, which includes seating and various concessions. The satellite terminal has 10 gates, numbered A13 to A22, with gates A13 to A17 to the left and gates A18 to A22 to the right.

The concourse offers a good selection of shops and restaurants, mostly at the entrance, including a Starbucks and a duty-free store. A Delta Sky Club is located before gate A18.

Terminal B

Terminal B is the largest terminal at Boston Logan International Airport, serving mostly domestic flights. It’s on the southeast side of the airport and connected airside to Terminal C for convenient connections.

Level 1: Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation

Boston Logan International Airport Terminal B level 1

Terminal B’s lower level is dedicated to arrivals. It houses baggage claim for the terminal’s multiple concourses, as well as ground transportation access inside the terminal access road.

Ground transportation is available outside both the east and west sides of the terminal. Some services are curbside, and others require passengers to use the crossing into the central reservation.

Level 2: Ticketing

Boston Logan International Airport Terminal B Level 2
Terminal B level 2 at Boston Logan International Airport. Image Credit: Massport

Terminal B’s U-shaped layout allows passengers to access parking and ground transportation from multiple entry and exit points outside the terminal. Garage parking is also available inside the terminal, accessible via the access road on levels 3 to 5.

Check-in is on level 2, and it’s a good idea to confirm which side of the terminal your airline is on to avoid walking back across if you need to check any luggage. Spirit, Alaska, Southwest, and United are on the east side of the terminal, via doors B207 to B215. Air Canada and American Airlines are on the west side, via doors B201 to B206.

Presecurity dining is limited to a Dunkin’ on the east side of the terminal and a Starbucks on the west. There are 2 security checkpoints in Terminal B: one on the east side and the other on the west.

Ride-sharing and limousine pickups are at level 2 of the terminal parking garage, with pedestrian walkways across from the terminal.

Level 2: Departures

Boston Logan International Airport Terminal B Departures

Terminal B has a total of 39 gates spread across multiple concourses. The terminal has 2 security checkpoints, depending on whether passengers are departing from the east or west side.

Level 2: Gates B1 to B15

Boston Logan International Airport Terminal B Gates B1 to B15

Gates B1 to B15 are on the west side of the terminal. As you exit the west security checkpoint, gates B1 to B12 are to the right, gate B14 is directly ahead, and gate B15 is to the left. There’s a good selection of shops and restaurants and an Admirals Club in the corridor leading to gates B1 to B3.

Air Canada and American Airlines operate from these gates.

Level 2: Gates B16 to B28

Boston Logan International Airport Terminal B Gates B16 to B28

Gates B16 to B28 are at the south end of Terminal B and can be accessed via the east or west security checkpoints, depending on which airline you check in with. American Airlines primarily occupies gates B16 to B21, and United Airlines occupies gates B22 onward.

There’s a United Club near gate B24 and a small selection of restaurants around some of the gates.

Level 2: Gates B29 to B40

Boston Logan International Airport Terminal B Gates B29 to B40
Terminal B gates B29 to B40 at Boston Logan International Airport. Image Credit: Massport

Gates B29 to B40 are on the east side of the terminal and serve Alaska Airlines, Southwest, Spirit, and Boutique Air. The west security checkpoint provides the closest access to these gates, and there’s a Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club between gates B39 and B40.

Passengers can remain in the secure area and proceed from gate B40 to Terminal C through the concourse connector.

Terminal C

Terminal C primarily serves JetBlue and Cape Air domestic flights, with a smaller presence for international carriers Aer Lingus and Etihad. The terminal is on the west side of the airport and connects to terminals B and E.

Level 1: Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation

Baggage claim is on the lower level of Terminal C, with information services available in the arrivals area and ground transportation accessible on the terminal access roads outside.

Level 2: Ticketing

Passengers can be dropped off curbside on level 2 and proceed to check-in on the same level. A single main security checkpoint on the east side of the terminal leads passengers directly into the departure concourses.

Level 2: Gates C23 to C36

Gates C23 to C36 are to the right after security, at the south end of the terminal. Gates C23 to C25 are in the connecting walkway to Terminal B, and gates C26 to C36 are in a separate concourse with a small range of shops and restaurants.

Level 2: Gates C5 to C22

Gates C5 through C22 are at the north end of the terminal, to the left after exiting the security checkpoint. Gates C5 to C10 are in the connector to Terminal E, and gates C12 to C22 are in a separate concourse.

Shops and restaurants are dotted throughout the gate areas, and The Lounge is near gate C19.

Terminal E

Terminal E handles the majority of international departures at BOS. While some international flights depart from other terminals, all international arrivals route through Terminal E, where customs and immigration processing takes place.

Terminal E is at the north end of the airport and is connected to Terminal C via walkways before and after security.

Level 1: Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation

Level 2 houses customs and immigration. Passengers can then take the escalators down to level 1 to retrieve their baggage.

Gates E1, E1A, E2, and E3 are on level 2 in the connector to Terminal C.

Level 3: Check-In and Gates

Ticketing is on level 3 of Terminal E. The terminal has 2 security checkpoints: one in the central area of the terminal and the other in the connector to Terminal C. There are plenty of shops and restaurants dotted around the concourse, with just a few before security.

Gates E4 to E16 are accessible from level 3. As you proceed through security, gates E4 to E12 are to the right, and gates E13 to E16 are to the left. There’s a large selection of shops and restaurants throughout the concourse, including a duty-free shop.

Level 4: Lounges

The Blue Line subway is the easiest way to reach Downtown Boston or head northeast to Wonderland. Connections are also possible to the Orange Line at State Street Station for journeys to Back Bay, Fenway Park, and Boston University, as well as to the Green Line to reach Boston College, Cleveland Circle, or Lechmere.

Buses

The Silver Line SL1 bus service operates between Chelsea and Dudley Square, with stops at BOS. Buses run from outside each terminal, and the journey from the airport to South Station is free (not from South Station to the airport). From here, passengers can connect to Amtrak, Commuter Rail, and the Red Line for Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and MIT.

The Logan Express offers parking at its bus terminals in Braintree, Framingham, Peabody, and Woburn, with passengers then riding direct services to the airport. Parking is $7 per day with journey times from 30 to 45 minutes. Buses arrive and depart from all terminals.

Several private bus companies also operate from BOS throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and the Northeast.

Water Transportation Services

MBTA ferries operate on weekdays, linking Hingham and Hull with Boston’s Long Wharf and BOS. Passengers can ride the shuttle bus (route 66) between their terminal and the Water Transportation Dock.

On-demand water taxis to Boston Harbor are also available from the Water Transportation Dock. One-way fares are $20 without luggage or $30 with checked luggage.

Taxi

Passengers can pick up a taxi from the arrivals level outside of each terminal. Taxis to downtown Boston cost anywhere from $25 to $45, not including tolls or gratuity.

Ride-Sharing Services

Uber and Lyft are authorized ride-sharing services that can operate from BOS. Passengers can be dropped off outside of departures on the upper level of each terminal. For terminals A, C, and E, ride services pick up from the Central Parking Area. For Terminal B, pickup and drop-off are on the second level of the Terminal B parking garage.

From a convenience standpoint, it’s hard to do better than the Hilton Boston Logan Airport. The hotel is adjacent to the airport via an enclosed walkway, allowing you to walk directly from your gate to the check-in desk. Guests can use the business center, indoor pool, gym, and a 24/7 shuttle service to the subway and water taxi. For award nights, note that Hilton no longer publishes an award chart and uses a dynamic pricing model across all its hotels. With that said, you can often redeem a free night at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport from around 54,000 points per night.

The Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel is a short drive from the airport and in one of Boston’s most popular areas, the Seaport District. The hotel offers great views of the harbor and is within walking distance of restaurants, the TD Garden, the Boston Convention Center, and the Exhibition Center. With Marriott Bonvoy’s dynamic pricing, the points needed largely depend on the time of year you visit, but you must generally pay around 45,000 points per night.

The Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor features sweeping views of the harbor and Boston’s skyline and provides a complimentary airport shuttle for easy access. The hotel is within walking distance of several of the city’s well-known historic attractions, dining, and public transportation, including the MBTA and water taxi. Award nights at this Category 4 property start at 12,000 points per night.

If you’re looking to top off your points to stay at any of these hotels, see our guides on the best ways to earn more World of HyattMarriott Bonvoy, or Hilton Honors points.
