As one of the most eye-catching hotel brands in the world, W Hotels redefines lifestyle luxury in almost every sense.

Catering towards the young professional more than the traveling family, W Hotels showcases gaudy décor, true luxury accommodations, and most importantly, some of the most iconic social locations in the world.

If you’re looking for a luxury hotel experience with an exciting atmosphere, as opposed to the traditional luxury Four Seasons experience, for example, you absolutely need to consider staying at W Hotels.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best W Hotels you can book with Marriott Bonvoy points for maximum value. We’ll start off with what W Hotels is all about — then, we’ll show you the best credit cards to use to earn points for your W stay.

Lastly, we’ll get into our detailed list of the top W Hotels you can book with points! We’ve got quite a bit of ground to cover, so let’s get right into it.

Everything You Need To Know About W Hotels

W Hotels was once the absolute cornerstone of lifestyle luxury hotels under the Starwood portfolio. These properties used to be the hottest hangouts in the city, but they have since faced stiff competition in this growing traveler segment.

In the past, W Hotels included the classic red carpet hustle and bustle with paparazzi, large crowds, electrifying atmospheres, and the hottest music playlists.

Today, Marriott is investing millions of dollars giving these properties a facelift and making W Hotels awesome again.

W Hotels has 3 key elements:

  • Music
  • Fuel
  • Design

In this guide, we’ll show you how each of these elements contributes to the unique W Hotels experience.

Music

W Hotels Music

Music is such an important facet of life — it soothes the nerves, raises the spirit, and makes people of all ages happy! Indeed, music has been directly tied to reducing depression and anxiety and boosting self-esteem.

As part of W Hotels’ DNA, music allows guests to elevate their stays and get transported around the world.

In the common areas of a hotel, you’ll hear mellow jams, bold beats, and next-generation tracks from local DJs and music directors.

Within your room, you’ll find exceptional sound amenities like full-fledged sound systems, high-tech amenities to easily beam your favorite songs in your room, and often, soundproof rooms to avoid bothering your neighbors!

Every music program is different at each property, but you might even find exclusive vibes like mixing rooms, vocal booths, dance parties, and live intimate music experiences.

So if you like music, W Hotels is the brand for you.

Fuel

W Hotels Fuel

One of the pillars of an exceptional hotel experience, wherever you go, is food. What’s unique about W Hotels is that it incorporates food into an overall program called Fuel.

Fuel describes the entire experience of accessing second-to-none workout experiences, filling yourself up with tasty yet fresh dining options, and accessing reinvigorating treatments at the on-property spa.

Every W Hotel has either a unique workout program at the property or insider access to a nearby fitness studio — though sometimes they have both. You’ll be working out with some of the best trainers in each city!

You’ll also savor artisanal restaurants, consuming fresh produce and indulgently-crafted meals.

Lastly, you’ll have access to spa menus, whether you want a massage, a facial, or a scrub.

Altogether, these components encompass W Hotels’ Fuel experience.

Design

W Hotels Design

W Hotels are some of the most recognizable hotels and resorts out there, characterized by bright colors, bright neon lighting, and a vibrant personality, known fondly as the “design narrative.”

Its design narrative is a product of local cultural influences, social cues, and historical records.

In many ways, W Hotels demonstrates that it’s possible to embrace luxury with a bit of ostentatiousness; it competes with other types of luxury hotels such as Four Seasons and St. Regis.

Fancy eclectic design and buzzy hotels? This is the place to be.

Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

W Hotels is one of Marriott’s numerous hotel brands.

And as one of the brands within the Luxury tier, W Hotels joins some of the world’s most recognizable brands in its prestige, with comparisons drawn to other brands like St. Regis, The Ritz-Carlton, and JW Marriott.

Even though many of these properties command prices upwards of $1,000 per night (and sometimes more!), it’s actually possible to use Amex’s or Chase’s Marriott co-branded credit cards to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on your normal credit card spending and redeem those points for stays at W Hotels!

Here are the best available Marriott Bonvoy credit cards.

The 18 Best W Hotels Redemptions

W Hotels are some of Marriott’s most lavish hotels and resorts in the world. Whether you’re staying within North America or you’re planning an exotic vacation, you’ll probably have an opportunity to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for W Hotels.

In some cases, redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points for W Hotels will end up getting you less value than you might expect. But luckily, there are a ton of incredible properties where you can redeem points and get phenomenal value.

In this next section, we’ll show you all of our top redemptions at W Hotels. We’ll focus first on the most luxurious, high-end properties. Then, we’ll work our way down to the lower-tier W Hotels and show you some gems you probably didn’t know existed!

1. W Maldives

W Maldives, Overwater Suites, Clear Water
W Maldives. Image Credit: Alex Miller

W Maldives is the most extravagant luxury resort available in the entire portfolio. And considering how jaw-droppingly gorgeous this property is, we’re not surprised.

Sure, there are other similarly categorized hotels, but none of them quite stack up to the level of the W Maldives. Located in the incredible North Ari Atoll, this property showcases the picture-perfect turquoise waters of the Maldives.

Accessible via either a 30-minute seaplane transfer ($505 per person round-trip, $235 per child aged 3 to 12 and complimentary for children up to age 3) or a 2-hour speedboat ride or even a 5-hour private yacht ride, you’ll have no shortage of transportation options to paradise.

This is one of the few resorts that boasts an overwater villa as its standard room reward type instead of a garden villa.

The entry-level villa is perched above the lagoon and furnished with a signature W king bed, a state-of-the-art Bose sound system, a lounge with glass flooring, a private overwater plunge pool, a furnished sun deck with loungers, and more.

Each of the 73 rooms and 4 suites comes with at least 1,571 square feet of space, making it bigger than some houses! It comes with high floor-to-ceiling windows, a deluxe full marble bathroom with a deep soaking bathtub, a separate walk-in shower, twin vanities, a lighted makeup mirror, a hairdryer, bathrobes, and slippers.

Throughout the rest of the villa, you’ll find comfortable furniture, an in-room safe, a desk, and more. You can even descend the stairs and access the Indian Ocean directly from your villa!

The W Maldives has 4 restaurants and 2 bars, which is a bit slim in variety compared to other mega-resorts in the Maldives. Still, the restaurant options consist of an open kitchen with live cooking stations featuring international choices, a signature fresh seafood restaurant, an outdoor backyard BBQ restaurant, and a family-style Asian fusion restaurant.

One of the cocktail bars has breathtaking sunset views while the other bar is poolside and serves light main courses.

To keep you busy on the island, you’ll find a state-of-the-art gym open 24/7, a 35,000 square foot infinity pool, and an overwater spa. Plus, you can access the beaches directly and check out the whirlpool.

And there’s a huge multi-purpose area offering private boxing classes, aqua aerobics, FIT circuit training, pool games, beach games, billiards, table soccer, table tennis, sunrise yoga, and so much more.

The property’s activities include a full water sports center, a dive center to check out one of the best house reefs in the Maldives, big game fishing, sunset cruises, and cooking classes.

This near-perfect resort offers bold and unscripted luxury for a cost of 70,000-100,00 points per night on average, although prices can fluctuate throughout the year.

If paying with cash, room rates hover around $1,200 per night, but it’s not uncommon to see cash rates of $3,000+ per night during the high season. Just remember that if you see a huge addition of taxes and fees, it’s most likely the seaplane transfer.

Hot Tip: Be sure to redeem points for at least 5 nights to access the fifth reward night free benefit

2. W Verbier (Switzerland)

W Verbier
W Verbier. Image Credit: Marriott

Switzerland is famous for having some of the most luxurious ski resorts in the world. With the beautiful Swiss Alps as the backdrop, the W Verbier is one of the best ski resorts you can book using points — and it happens to be part of W Hotels!

This opulent resort boasts immediate access to over 250 miles of skiing and hiking terrain perched at a whopping 5,000+ square feet above the ground.

With 123 cozy, ultra-luxe rooms and suites, you’ll find contemporary design elements with alpine notes. Starting with the universal amenities, each room has a fireplace, a signature W bed, and a private balcony.

A minimum of 387 square feet in size, these rooms include a Geneva sound system, a Bose sound system, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, a W MixBar (in-room bar), Nespresso coffee and tea machines, a gigantic walk-in closet, and a full bathroom.

Each full bathroom contains a walk-in rain shower, a deep soaking tub, W bathrobes, slippers, an oversized sink, a separate toilet, and a hairdryer.

To fuel your stay in this Alpine resort, you can choose from an international Swiss kitchen, a Spanish tapas bar by Michelin-starred Chef Sergi Arola, a sushi bar and Asian fusion restaurant, a lobby lounge, an on-site grab-and-go café, and even an outdoor white sandy beach lounge concept with a live DJ.

While you’re probably going to be focused on spending most of your time on the slopes, you can return to the hotel and book a spa treatment with La Prairie products at the AWAY Spa that has a hammam, 9 treatment rooms, a jacuzzi, steam rooms, and more.

The 24/7 gym has high-tech facilities plus an indoor/outdoor heated pool. Private or group yoga sessions are also available.

On the premises, you’ll also find a full business center and 3,100+ square feet of flexible event spaces.

This hotel represents a fantastic use of your Marriott Bonvoy points; you’ll pay 70,000-100,000 points per night on average, although prices can fluctuate throughout the year.

During the high season, you’ll literally see room rates of more than $1,300 per night, which is a great time to redeem points. However, off-season room rates hover around $500 per night, and the yearly average is somewhere around $800 per night.

3. W Koh Samui (Thailand)

W Koh Samui
W Koh Samui. Image Credit: Marriott

W Koh Samui is one of the most underrated hotels in Thailand. This posh beachfront resort showcases some of the most intimate beaches in all of Thailand and sits less than 5 miles from the Santiburi Samui Country Club, Samui International Airport (USM), and the temple of Wat Plai Laem.

Each oversized villa is 1,754 square feet in size and offers a private 36 by 8 feet plunge pool, a spacious wooden deck, an oversized daybed, 2 lounge chairs, a 2-person dining table, floor-to-ceiling windows, a sofa bed, and a beanbag chair.

The king-sized signature W bed has 350-thread-count Egyptian cotton bedding, a goose-down comforter, and more. The full-sized bathroom has a gigantic bathtub, a separate rain shower, Bliss Spa amenities, a 22-inch Samsung LCD TV, and a sliding door opening directly to the private pool.

You’ll also find state-of-the-art entertainment like a 46-inch flat-screen Samsung LCD TV, a W library, a Yamaha sound dock, a W MixBar, refreshments from the Sweet Spot, and a beach bag with flip-flops, a hat, water, and more.

The dining options consist of an international all-day dining restaurant with sea views, an impressive Japanese restaurant, a sunset beach bar, and a lively cocktail bar with curated music. Plus, there are free soft drinks and ice cream for guests at the Sweet Spot all day!

This resort has other amenities like a 24/7 gym, a luxurious spa with 7 treatment rooms, an outdoor infinity pool, a tennis court with complimentary racket and tennis ball rentals (pro lessons available), and private beach access.

Other available activities include kayaking, volleyball, a sauna, snorkeling, and more. But of course, the biggest benefit is being able to experience some of the best beaches Thailand has to offer without the crowds.

The W Koh Samui costs between 70,000-100,000 points per night on average, although prices can fluctuate throughout the year.

Average room rates are usually around $600 per night, but during the high season, they can go as high as $1,800 per night. In contrast, low season rates are around $400 per night.

Hot Tip: If you’re planning to explore Thailand and its neighboring countries, see our guide to the best ways to fly to Southeast Asia with points and miles.

4. W South Beach (Florida)

W South Beach
W South Beach. Image Credit: Marriott

W South Beach is one of the most elite hotels in Miami’s bustling South Beach area. Known for only offering suite accommodations at this beachfront hotel, W South Beach is the sister property to W Miami (discussed below).

If you crave a fantastic location in the middle of all the energy, this property is going to be an amazing fit for you. Every room at this classy property showcases huge, floor-to-ceiling windows, custom furniture, private balconies, an amazing Collins Avenue location, sleek kitchenettes, and spa-inspired bathrooms.

The standard suites have 564 square feet of space, tons of natural light, ocean views, a private glass balcony, a spacious marble bathroom with a walk-in shower, double vanities, a lighted makeup mirror, a hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, and more.

You’ll also find a workstation and circadian lighting modes to help you optimize your mood.

With a robust dining program, you can choose from an array of culinary outposts, including Tuscan cuisine, modern Chinese delicacies, poolside tapas, a chic lobby bar, and a vibrant outdoor bar serving tiki-inspired cocktails and Cuban cigar flights.

On the hotel premises, you’ll find an assortment of activities like a watersports center, a fashion boutique, a stunning AWAY Spa, an outdoor heated pool, 2 postcard-worthy outdoor pools, a 24/7 gym, a rooftop tennis court, a basketball court, and of course, 300 feet of pristine white sand beaches all to yourself.

There are also event facilities available if needed.

This property can be booked for 70,000-100,000 points per night on average, although prices can fluctuate throughout the year.

With eye-popping cash prices of $900 to $2,000 per night, you’ll definitely want to redeem points if possible. Sometimes, however, you can find cash rates for as low as $550 per night.

5. W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal

Each of the rooms boasts a plush king bed, a private balcony, and colorful design schemes. You’ll enjoy at least 613 square feet of space, floor-to-ceiling windows that can be opened, separate sitting areas, coffee and tea facilities, a minibar, an in-room safe, and a full marble bathroom.
