Miles & More® World Elite Mastercard® — Is It Worth It?
While the Lufthansa Miles & More card may be a bit niche for most U.S. travelers, it can be a good option for those who frequently travel with Lufthansa and its partners, both as a way of earning miles faster and helping you reach Miles & More status faster.
This is especially true when considering that the Lufthansa Miles & More program is not a partner of any major transferable rewards programs. Adding the Lufthansa Miles & More card to your wallet is arguably the best way to earn Lufthansa miles on all of your daily purchases.

Best Ways To Earn and Redeem Lufthansa Miles
With the Lufthansa Miles & More card, you’ll earn 2x miles on Miles & More partner airline tickets and 1x miles on all other purchases. Using your card to travel with Lufthansa and its partners and for everyday purchases is one of the best ways to earn more Lufthansa miles.
The miles can be tough to earn, but there are great ways to redeem Lufthansa miles, like the top-notch Lufthansa first class experience between the U.S. and Europe for 91,000 miles.
Alternative Cards to the Lufthansa Miles & More Card
For a $95 annual fee, you could add a card to your wallet that is generally better at earning points and earning rewards that can be transferred to multiple airline and hotel partners.
With the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you’ll earn 5x points on all travel booked via the Chase Travel portal, 3x points on dining purchases, online grocery purchases, and select streaming services, 2x points on all other travel worldwide, and 1x points on all other purchases. Plus, you’ll receive 10% annual bonus points based on your annual card spend.
Further, the card has other solid perks like a $50 annual Chase Travel hotel credit, complimentary access to DoorDash DashPass, and excellent travel and purchase protections.
While Lufthansa isn’t one of the Chase transfer partners of the Chase Ultimate Rewards program, you can transfer your points to multiple Star Alliance partners, like Air Canada Aeroplan and United Mileage Plan. You can use those points to book award tickets on Lufthansa flights.
Similarly, the Capital One Venture card is a great travel rewards credit card for those who want an uncomplicated earning structure and access to Capital One transfer partners for a relatively low annual fee.
It earns 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel and an uncapped 2x miles on all other purchases. Card benefits include an up to $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit, a $50 experience credit for every hotel and vacation rental booked from the Lifestyle Collection, and no foreign transaction fees.
While the Capital One Miles program isn’t a transfer partner of Lufthansa Miles & More, it also offers multiple Star Alliance transfer partners that you can use to book award tickets with Lufthansa, like Air Canada Aeroplan and Avianca LifeMiles.
