Choosing the right credit card all depends on your financial needs, and it can take time to find your perfect match. However, sometimes those financial needs become urgent and you need access to credit immediately.

Things happen, and we can’t always plan ahead. Maybe your car breaks down and is in desperate need of significant repairs. Or you have a sudden need for an expensive repairman to address major leaks throughout the house.

Luckily, there are quite a few credit cards that allow you to instantly access all the important information you need to use your new credit card to make that purchase.

Here, we’ll give you a list of easy instant approval credit cards that offer immediate access to your new card numbers — and tell you which banks don’t offer this service.

Plus, a lot of the cards that issue instant credit card numbers upon approval are travel rewards cards, which can eventually help relieve some of your stress by helping you take your next vacation on points and miles instead of cash!

It should be noted that some consumers have reported not seeing card numbers upon approval for the various issuers listed below and the reason for that is unknown.

See below for more information on these instant approval cards — and which is best suited for you and your spending habits.

Instant Approval Credit Cards for Fair to Bad Credit

It’s always important to understand your credit score, especially when you are about to apply for a new credit card. If you’re not aware of your credit score, we recommend using some of the free credit monitoring services like Credit Karma.

Even if you have bad credit, you still have options to apply for a new credit card that will issue you a card number instantly.

Easy Credit Cards to Get

Hot Tip: Not sure which card is best for YOUR credit score? Use the “CardMatch Tool” which only shows you cards that are matched to your credit score (“pre-qualified).

What’s one of the easiest ways to get an instant card number for people with bad credit? The credit cards by Comenity Bank. However, it’s important to note that most of the cards they offer that are easy to be approved for are store-branded cards, and may be limited to use at those stores.

Are you getting pre-approved credit card offers in the mail? If so, it might be useful to see if they’re on the list of credit cards that issue card numbers instantly.

Most of the time, banks have already looked at your credit if you’re receiving pre-approved offers — this is a good sign that you would be approved if you apply.

However, if things have drastically changed on your credit since you received those pre-approved offers, it’s less likely you will be approved by the bank (since they will definitely check your credit again once you apply).

Full List of Instant Approval Credit Cards (2019)

It is important to know what to expect when applying for your next credit card if urgent situations arise. That’s why we’re detailing each bank’s policy on issuing instant credit cards numbers — some make it easy, while others take a bit of work.

Getting an instant credit card number will always require an automatic approval, even from the banks listed below. If your application is pending after you apply, you might want to consider other options.

Chase (Large Sign-up Bonuses, Valuable Points)

Chase Instant Approval Credit Cards
While not instant approval cards, Chase will often give you a decision “on the spot” and then you just wait a few days for the card to come in the mail. Don’t forget – Chase offer incredible rewards cards, often unmatched! Image courtesy of Shutterstock

Chase will often give you an instant approval/decision, but they won’t issue your numbers immediately.

But, if you’re open to getting a decision right away (and waiting a couple days for your card to arrive in the mail), these are our favorite cards that we use everyday:

Recommended Chase Cards (Personal)

Capital One (Simple Rewards Program)

Capital One can give you instant access to your new credit card number BUT in order to find the card details you need to download their app and sign in.

important update (2019): A number of readers have reported NOT being able to see their Capital One card details when using the App. This is now a “hit or miss” situation. This means that applying for one of the AMEX cards above is now the most reliable way of seeing your card numbers instantly.

Once signed into the app, you should be able to view those card details such as the expiry date, card number etc.

In addition, some consumers have reported that if you don’t initially see the numbers via the app to log out and log back in which can refresh your account details.

Some consumers have reported not being able to see the card numbers at all — and it’s unclear as to why that is. Your results could be the same.

Recommended Capital One Cards (Personal)

This can also be useful for those who already have a Capital One card and need to make a quick purchase when they might not have the physical card on them.

For more information on our recommended Capital One cards, check out this post on the best Capital One credit cards for travel rewards, cash-back, businesses, and more.

Bank of America

Most Bank of America credit cards do not offer instant card numbers, but one of their co-branded credit cards — the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Credit Card, is well known for instantly issuing your card number on approval.

This is actually a travel rewards credit card, and it has an incredible awards program.

Other cards issued by Bank of America have been reported to issue their card numbers instantly, but it’s a bit more sporadic and less reliable.

BBVA

BBVA will not issue instant card numbers for applications processed online. You have a better chance at getting access to the card information immediately by going into a physical branch and speaking with a representative.

Not all branch representatives will want to provide this information, but asking in person will help more easily verify your identity if the main reason for this method is the security of your cards.

Blispay

Blispay appears to be the leader in advertising instant card access, and it also offers a quick 2% cash-back on all purchases. That’s almost instant savings!

The company brags about their accessibility: you can apply with your phone, and instantly use your card online anywhere Visa is accepted (as well as for in-store purchases at participating Blispay stores).

Blispay basically guarantees that if you are approved for their card, you will instantly get your card number.

Citi

Similar to Bank of America, not all Citi cards are known for issuing instant card numbers — but there are a couple co-branded cards that normally do.

Both the American Airlines and AT&T credit cards will usually provide instant card numbers. (If you’re interested in Citi products, read our article on the best Citi credit cards where we compare their perks and benefits).

American Airlines offers many different credit card products with different benefits, features, and bonuses, so be sure to look into which one works best for your financial and travel goals!

Costco Credit Card

The Costco Credit Card, which is issued by Citibank, offers instant card numbers only when you apply in person at a Costo location.

Not only will you instantly receive your card number, but Costco will print out a special barcode you can use at Costco locations. This lets you use your new card for purchases before you get it in the mail.

It is important to note that this instant card can only be used at Costco, and you need to either be a member or plan to become a member to access the store and apply.

Final

The credit card offered by Final is mainly advertised to lower your risk of fraud, but it will also provide an instant card number on approval.

Need to make a payment online and want to keep your credit card information 100% secure? Their platform gives you the ability to generate temporary card numbers specifically for that purchase.

It also helps manage your automatic payments. Tired of that monthly subscription you signed up for months ago? Just cancel the special card number you used for that vendor, and your subscription will be canceled without jeopardizing your entire credit card account!

First National Bank of Omaha

FNBO issues the MGM M Life Rewards Mastercard, which can provide an instant card number when applying in person at an MGM resort or M Life desk.

MGM resorts are well known for their casinos…but we hope your financial emergency isn’t running out of money while gambling!

Once you’re approved in person, you will get a printed copy of your credit card information that can be used for your more important financial needs (not just to gamble away at the blackjack tables).

Synchrony

Synchrony offers a few options to obtain an instant credit card number on approval, but they mainly focus on online purchases with some limits.

Their Ebates credit card will provide you with an instant card number and is not limited to online purchases. You can use your temporary instant card number anywhere Visa is accepted.

Both of their eBay and Paypal credit cards will also give you instant access to your card number, but these are limited to online purchases only. They also limit your initial spending to $250 until you get your permanent card.

Other examples of Synchrony cards that result in some applicants getting approved instantly are Walmart, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, and TJX Rewards.

USAA

The USAA credit card will also grant you instant access to your credit card information, but your spending is limited to $1,000 until you receive the actual card in the mail.

Also, you need to be a member of USAA before applying for their credit card. Members of the military and their families can apply for membership to USAA.

Bottom Line: We hope you’ll find the perfect credit card that will both take care of your financial needs immediately and help give you some awesome travel benefits in the future.

Do Store Branded Credit Cards Offer Instant Card Numbers on Approval?

Many popular retail stores offer their own credit card. Some are co-branded with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, while others are limited to use only at that specific store.

Comenity Bank is a popular card issuer for store-branded credit cards, and some of their credit cards won’t even conduct a hard pull on your credit report! We have the entire list of store-branded credit cards by Comenity Bank, including which ones are the easiest to be instantly approved for.

Some of these cards will also offer immediate discounts when you’re approved for their store card and use it for your purchase the same day. One example is the Target RedCard, which saves you 5% on all Target purchases and also provides a temporary card number on approval.

Other stores don’t even require you to have the physical or temporary card information with you. Best Buy and Macy’s can look up your credit card information by providing them with some personal information like a drivers license and/or social security number.

Surprisingly enough, Cabela’s will actually issue your permanent physical card on approval when you apply in-store.

Overall, store cards can be extremely useful when needing to make large purchases at these specific retailers. It’s always important to understand if these cards can be used elsewhere, or if they are limited to the specific store.

Which Cards Won’t Issue Card Numbers Instantly?

Most credit card companies that aren’t on this list will not issue your credit card information instantly. This means you must wait until the card arrives in the mail to be able to use it.

Most notably, these big-name banks do not offer instant card numbers on approval:

While it may be possible to get expedited shipping for these cards, there is still a waiting period that could last up to 2 weeks.

Final Thoughts

We’ve detailed the most popular banks that issue instant credit card numbers on approval to help you in times of financial emergencies. We’ve also noted which credit cards and banks to avoid if you are looking for immediate use of your new credit card.

You don’t always need to wait for your new credit card to arrive in the mail to be able to use it — but if you get your number immediately, make sure to take note of any spending limitations or restrictions on where it can be used.

Brandon Brunner

About Brandon Brunner

Brandon was born and raised in California and really didn’t travel much growing up, even outside of his own state. While attending college, he was constantly looking to find the cheapest fares to any destination abroad, and quickly learned about the motto- “Chase the fare, not the destination”. Luckily, his first international flight was to Costa Rica (under $300 roundtrip) where that “Pura Vida” lifestyle (and Imperials) hit him hard, and he knew he had to see more.

  1. Just applied for capital one venture card and was approved, no card details anywhere on the app 🙁

All I was looking for instant decision. Not card number. I think most of the banks we have to wait atleast 10 days to know even if I am approved, except American express and Discover.
Citi, US bank, Wells fargo, HSBC all are must wait if you apply online. This is the information I searched all over the web, No website provided. Every website spoke about getting card number instantly.

  3. I like credit cards that give me a good percent of cash back. I use them everywhere and at the end of the year, I get refunded a percent of what I spent. Usually, with my current card, I get about $250 back every year.

I still did not get my number to use online & that’s the only reason I picked this card.

    • Hi Kimberly, can you let me know which card you are referring to?

      • Same as the other comments. I need to access my credit line immediately for an emergency purchase so i applied for Capital One Quicksilver and got approved instantly, downloaded the app, logged in and out and still no card number to be found.

  5. Applied for American Airlines Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World EliteTM Mastercard® and got instantly approved. Got the account details by choosing Virtual Account number in the Continue option that appears right after approval.

Hi Judy! Happy to help. Which credit card did you apply for and what error are you seeing?

  7. Kirk Hayes · March 20, 2019 · Reply

I don’t have an active checking account. I draw s.s. At 1400.00 a month. I need to know if I can get a credit card without having a checking account at my address?

    • Hi Kirk, I’d recommend calling the bank and explaining the situation. Whether you get approved (or not) is largely based on your credit, not if you have a checking account…so I’d check that first and make sure it’s within range of the card you’re looking to get. Hope this helps!
