Do you love to ski? Good news, because Alaska Airlines has again partnered with several ski resorts to offer free skiing when you fly to select destinations.
With many resorts opening in late November, we’ll review what you need to know to plan an epic winter vacation.
Offer Details
Alaska’s updated winter promotion offers free day passes to skiers and snowboarders when they fly the airline to certain destinations. In many cases, you will just need to show your same-day boarding pass and ID to take advantage of the promotion.
In total, there are 8 separate resorts participating in this deal, although each one has different requirements:
Alyeska Resort
Fly into Anchorage (ANC) in Alaska
Ski free on the day of arrival
Must present same-day boarding pass and ID
Valid Monday to Friday between January 10, 2022, and April 30, 2023
Blackout dates include: January 16, February 20, and March 10 to 17, 2023
The answer to this question is obvious if you were already planning on skiing this year. After all, who doesn’t like free lift tickets? This is especially true when you consider that many can cost $50 or more per day — for a party of 4, this can easily save you hundreds of dollars. Of course, you’ll want to be aware of blackout dates and other limitations. Though, as you can see, some resorts are more generous than others.
Hot Tip: If you’d rather ski multiple times this season, consider opting for a season ski pass instead, which can save you tons of money!
This promotion also doesn’t specify that your ticket must be paid, which presents some pretty tempting options to consider. It’s entirely possible to craft a free weekend vacation by redeeming Alaska Mileage Plan miles for costly winter season flights, enjoying your free ski day, and then sleeping somewhere else using hotel points. Not a bad deal!
Final Thoughts
This updated winter promotion from Alaska is great. Along with offering nonstop service to several different ski destinations, you’ll also score yourself a free lift ticket at 8 different resorts when you present your boarding pass. Keep in mind that some destinations have blackout dates and other restrictions, so be sure to do your research before you book.
