Fly With Alaska Airlines and Ski for Free This Season at 10 Resorts

Alaska Airlines has again partnered with several ski resorts to offer free skiing when you fly to select destinations.

Those 10 destinations in the Western U.S. and Canada offer exceptional skiing for all abilities.

Let’s review how this promotion works.

Offer Details

Alaska’s updated winter promotion for 2024-2025 offers free day passes to skiers and snowboarders when they fly the airline to certain destinations.

In many cases, you will just need to show your same-day boarding pass and an ID to take advantage of the promotion.

In total, there are 10 separate resorts participating in this deal, with a slightly different lineup from last winter.

Note that each one has different requirements, and all require you to present your Alaska Airlines boarding pass:

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

• Fly into Jackson Hole (JAC), Wyoming
• Offer valid November 29, 2024, through April 13, 2025
• Present your boarding pass to receive a free day of skiing the day you fly
• Get a free demo equipment package rental from Jackson Hole Sports the day you travel, plus complimentary equipment storage the night you travel at Jackson Hole Sports
• Blackout dates include December 26-31, 2024; February 15-16, 2025

Bogus Basin

• Fly into Boise (BOI), Idaho
• Ski free on the day of arrival
• 1 free ticket per boarding pass
• Valid late November 2024 to mid-April 2025, weather permitting
• No blackout dates

RED Mountain Resort

• Fly into Spokane (GEG), Washington
• Must fly between December 9, 2024, and April 7, 2025
• 1 free ticket per boarding pass
• Must present boarding pass and ID
• No blackout dates

Schweitzer Mountain Resort

• Fly into Spokane (GEG), Washington
• Ski free on the day of arrival
• Validity: not specified

Sun Peaks Resort

• Fly into Kelowna (YLW), British Columbia, Canada
• Present your boarding pass dated November 16, 2024 to April 13, 2025 to receive 1 free lift ticket on the day you arrive or the next day, then 20% off additional days
• Additionally, Alaska Airlines passengers can get 20% off a stay, plus free gear check-in, at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel
• Valid November 16, 2024 to April 13, 2025
• Promotion not valid from December 26-31, 2024 and February 14-17, 2025.

SkiBig3

• Fly into Calgary (YYC), Alberta, Canada
• Present your boarding pass dated November 8, 2024 to April 15, 2025 to receive premium performance rentals for the price of mid-performance rentals at the SkiBig3 Adventure Hub locations in either Banff or Canmore
• Promotion not available from December 20, 2024-January 5, 2025 / February 14-23, 2025

Ski Marmot Basin

• Fly into Edmonton (YEG), Alberta, Canada
• Receive a free full-day lift ticket within 21 days of arrival
• Valid November 15, 2024 to April 30, 2025
• Must present boarding pass or printed itinerary and ID
• Get high performance ski/snowboard rentals for the price of standard ski/snowboard rentals at the Marmot Basin rental shop in the Caribou Chalet (subject to availability)
• Check your gear overnight for free at the Marmot Basin rental shop

Eaglecrest Ski area

• Fly into Juneau (JNU), Alaska
• Present your boarding pass dated December 7, 2024 to April 14, 2025 to receive:
  • Free same-day skiing and snowboarding
  • Performance demo gear for the price of regular rentals at the Eaglecrest Rental Shop
• Valid December 7, 2024 to April 14, 2025
• No blackout dates

Arctic Valley

• Fly into Anchorage (ANC), Alaska
• Present your boarding pass dated December 14, 2024 to April 12, 2025 to receive:
  • Free same-day lift ticket with matching ID
  • Demo skis for the price of regular rentals from the rental shop
• No blackout dates, but note that Arctic Valley is not open for skiing yet as of December 18, 2024

Steamboat Ski & Resort

• Fly into Steamboat Springs/Hayden (HDN), Colorado
• Show your boarding pass to the ticket office to gain night skiing pass for arrival night (Steamboat is open for night skiing Thursday through Sunday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. until March 23, 2025
•  If arrival is a Wednesday or Monday, use your free night skiing on Thursday
• Must present boarding pass

Is It Worth It?

The answer to this question is obviously yes if you were already planning on skiing this year. After all, who doesn’t like free lift tickets? This is especially true when you consider that many lift tickets cost $100 or more per day — for a party of 4, this offer can easily save you hundreds of dollars. Of course, you’ll want to be aware of blackout dates and other limitations. Though, as you can see, some resorts are more generous than others.

This promotion also doesn’t specify that your ticket must be paid, which presents some pretty tempting options to consider. It’s entirely possible to craft a free weekend vacation by redeeming Alaska Mileage Plan miles for costly winter season flights, enjoying your free ski day, and then sleeping somewhere else using hotel points. Not a bad deal!

Hot Tip: If you plan to ski multiple times this season, consider opting for a season ski pass instead, which can save you tons of money!

This updated winter promotion from Alaska is great. Along with offering nonstop service to several different ski destinations, you’ll also score yourself a free lift ticket at 10 different resorts when you present your boarding pass. Keep in mind that some destinations have blackout dates and other restrictions, so be sure to do your research before you book.
