Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Lufthansa’s first class product is one of the best in the world. Although its seats are a little older, they’re incredibly spacious — and nothing beats the soft product you’ll experience. Lufthansa is well-known for being stingy with releasing award seats for first class and will only tend to do so two weeks before departure. Even then, availability has been pretty scarce for the last year.

Luckily, we found an absolute heap of first class seats across multiple routes and dates — though they’re still pretty close-in. Let’s take a look.

Fare Deal — Details

Probably the best part about this deal is that we’re seeing space across multiple routes, including the West Coast.

Again, these flights are all within the next two weeks, but if you’re able to hop on this it’s going to be an incredible experience. Even better, we’ve seen flights with up to 8 seats available. That’s practically unheard of!

  • Class: First
  • Routes: San Francisco (SFO), Boston (BOS), New York (EWR), Charlotte (CLT), Washington D.C. (IAD), Houston (IAH), Chicago (ORD) to Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC)
  • Dates: July 2023
  • Rates: 84,000 miles one-way

Your best bet for finding award seats is going to be Seats.aero. It’s free to use and will show you all first class routes and dates available with Lufthansa, as well as how many seats are available on each flight.

Lufthansa levies insane surcharges, so you’ll want to stick with an award program that doesn’t pass these on. Air Canada is good for this, as you can see on this route from Charlotte (CLT) to Munich (MUC).

You can also use Avianca LifeMiles to book, which charges even fewer fees and just 87,000 miles one-way, even when traveling from San Francisco (SFO) to Frankfurt (FRA).

Best Ways to Book

Although Aeroplan charges 100,000 points for a one-way flight, Chase is currently running a 20% transfer bonus to the program. This means you can transfer just 84,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points and come out with 100,800 points to book these tickets.

Aeroplan points are also extremely easy to earn otherwise and can be transferred in from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, and Bilt Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Otherwise, Avianca Lifemiles is going to be your best bet. Like Aeroplan, Avianca has plenty of transfer partners. If you need to build up your stash, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Amex points, and Capital One miles all transfer over at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

This is an amazing drop of award seats on Lufthansa’s lauded first class. Sure, the dates are close-in, but if you’re able to make it work, you can spend as many as 10 hours enjoying the best this German airline has to offer. Book now, and ask questions later!
