A TSA PreCheck membership makes getting through airport security screening easier, but not all airlines participate in the program. Today, March 28, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has just announced that 8 more airlines are being added to the program.

Here’s what you need to know.

New TSA PreCheck Airlines As of March 2024

TSA announced that 8 new airlines would join the PreCheck program. The airlines are Air Premia, Air Tahiti Nui, Air Transat, Bahamasair, BermudAir, Iberia, La Compagnie and New Pacific Airlines.

Bottom Line:

With the expansion, nearly 100 airlines now participate in the TSA PreCheck program. More than 200 airports in the U.S. have PreCheck lanes, including the 30 busiest.

What Is TSA PreCheck?

TSA was created in the aftermath of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. It was initially created as an agency within the Department of Transportation. It was later moved under the Department of Homeland Security, where it currently operates.

To enroll in TSA PreCheck, you’ll complete an application and an in-person appointment. You’ll need to be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or a lawful permanent resident and pass a background check. Assuming everything is in order, you’ll have TSA PreCheck for 5 years. The initial application fee is $78 (more on how to save on a membership below).

The best benefit of having TSA PreCheck is that you can leave your shoes on when passing through security. You can also leave light outerwear, jackets, and belts on and keep laptops and small liquids in your bag. (However, note that you can still be pulled randomly for extra screening at TSA’s discretion.)

Many travelers opt for a Global Entry membership, which includes TSA PreCheck. To apply for Global Entry, you must pay a one-time $100 fee and complete an in-person or remote interview at an enrollment center.

Many premium credit cards offer statement credits to cover the cost of a TSA PreCheck or Global Entry membership:

Final Thoughts

TSA PreCheck has expanded by adding 8 international airlines to the program. That means PreCheck members flying on those airlines can enjoy a dedicated, expedited screening lane.

We hope TSA continues to add more airlines to the program in the future!
