Chase Ultimate Rewards has long been among the best transferable points programs in the travel industry. It boasts numerous useful airline and hotel transfer partners, several cards that allow for robust points earning, and the Chase Travel portal, which can be an effective solution when partner transfers aren’t the best option.

Chase has weathered stiff competition from rivals, including American Express, Bilt, Capital One, Citi, and Wells Fargo, all of which have stepped up their offerings in recent years. But Chase has evolved its program and its credit cards to keep it fresh in 2026.

Here’s why we believe it’s still the strongest program for earning and redeeming points today.

Chase Ultimate Rewards

Here’s a look at the new perks and benefits the card added:

And cardholders will now earn 3x points on gas, EV charging, and vacation homes, including Airbnb and Vrbo. This is on top of the card’s existing earning structure, which awards 5x points on Chase Travel purchases, 3x points on dining and some streaming services, 2x points on travel, and 1x points on all other eligible purchases.

The updated structure helps cardholders earn rewards at an accelerated rate on a wide range of purchases. The addition of gas, EV charging, and vacation homes to the 3x bonus category is a particularly notable improvement. These purchases are a significant part of many people’s budgets, and the card didn’t previously offer bonus earnings here.

Vacation rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo have become a much larger part of the travel landscape, so the ability to earn points at an accelerated rate helps cardholders rack up a healthy supply of points.

New Perks, Same Fee

But perhaps the best part of the entire refresh is that Chase added these new benefits without raising the card’s $95 annual fee.

When you look at the Chase Sapphire Preferred card and consider its earning structure, combined with the perks and benefits it offers, you’ll realize it’s really in a class of its own. It is a genuine competitor to significantly more expensive credit cards from other issuers, and those that are similarly priced don’t offer nearly as comprehensive a package.

Instead of raising the annual fee, Chase made the card more rewarding without asking cardholders to pay more. Constant refinement of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card has allowed Chase to stand out among its competitors with a product that punches above its weight in terms of earning and redemption potential.

Not only can you earn points at a rapid clip with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, but right now you can take advantage of a higher, 100,000-point welcome offer:

  • Earn 75,000 100,000 points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

This is equal to the best offer we’ve ever seen on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card and can give you a huge jump-start on earning Ultimate Rewards points that can be redeemed for some incredible travel experiences. However, this 100,000-point bonus offer is set to end soon, so you’ll want to apply before it’s long gone.

When this happens, you can redeem the cash-back earned from the welcome offer as Ultimate Rewards points — a fantastic option for quickly building your points. In this case, that would mean a whopping 100,000 points.

Not only are business cards advantageous for earning welcome offers, but they also offer earning structures that supplement earnings from everyday spending. In other words, they can fill gaps for purchases that don’t earn at an accelerated rate on another Chase product, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.

Chase Sapphire Preferred vs Chase Ink Business Unlimited Upgraded Points
Pairing a Chase business card with a Sapphire product is a great strategy to earn lots of Ultimate Rewards points on everyday spending. Image Credit: Upgraded Points LLC

For example, the Ink Business Cash card earns the following:

  • 5% cash-back on up to $25,000 spent in combined purchases each anniversary year at office supply stores and on internet, cable, and phone services
  • 5% cash-back on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027
  • 2% cash-back on up to $25,000 spent in combined purchases each anniversary year on dining and gas
  • 1% cash-back on all other purchases

And the Ink Business Unlimited card earns:

  • 5% cash-back on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027
  • Unlimited 1.5% cash-back on all purchases

Depending on your lifestyle and spending habits, a certain card may be a better fit than the other, but you can see how both earning structures can complement a personal card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Pairing a personal and a business card guarantees a steady stream of Ultimate Rewards points to your account.

Hot Tip:

Ultimate Rewards Means Ultimate Flexibility

Once you have Ultimate Rewards points, you’ll want to spend them, which is another area in which the program excels.

First, Ultimate Rewards offers 14 airline and hotel transfer partners, which allow you to convert your points earned from spending on Chase credit cards into rewards for those programs. You can typically redeem them for far more value than you’d get if you redeemed them within the Chase ecosystem.

Chase partners with 10 airline programs, including Aer Lingus AerClub, Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, The British Airways Club, Club Iberia Plus, JetBlue TrueBlue, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Southwest Rapid Rewards, United MileagePlus, and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club.

Chase also partners with 4 hotel programs: IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, World of Hyatt, and Wyndham Rewards. While Ultimate Rewards doesn’t have the largest number of partners among its competitors, its roster is still very valuable to travelers.

For example, it has the most domestic airline transfer partners, which is advantageous for those who travel primarily within the U.S. It also partners with several of the most important international programs, opening up redemptions across all 3 major airline alliances, ensuring you can almost always find a sweet-spot award redemption.

And on the hotel side, the partnership with World of Hyatt remains powerful, despite a devaluation of the transfer ratio for some Chase cardholders. While World of Hyatt remains our favorite program for hotel redemptions, the IHG, Marriott, and Wyndham partnerships provide more options and can come in handy.

The Chase Travel Portal Adds Even More Value

Despite the fact that you generally get much more value from your points when you transfer them to a partner program, the Chase Travel portal is still a great tool to have at your disposal. This is especially true when a partner redemption isn’t possible or simply isn’t the best option.

Depending on which Chase cards you have, you can get up to 2 cents per point in value for portal redemptions, which is far better than what the competition offers.

Final Thoughts

The Ultimate Rewards program has changed quite a bit over the years. Some changes have been good, and some have been bad. All things considered, we still think the Ultimate Rewards program offers the best combination of earning and redemption potential around.

If you invest the time and effort into crafting a card strategy and learning how to redeem the points you earn for the best possible value, Ultimate Rewards is practically peerless in 2026.
