Why Wyndham Rewards Points?

The best-case scenario of any points program is that there are lots of ways to earn rewards and good value at redemption time. With Wyndham Rewards, you’ll get both: valuable rewards points that are also easy to earn.
The Value of Wyndham Rewards
While the value of each Wyndham Rewards point varies based on your redemption selection, we calculate the value to be around 0.9 cents per point. The higher the hotel night (cash) rate of the reward night you’re booking, the greater value you will receive for your points.
Wyndham free nights cost either 7,500 points, 15,000 points, or 30,000 points per night.
Hot Tip: To clearly illustrate the value of Wyndham Rewards points, our experts put together a big list of best ways to redeem Wyndham Rewards. It’s an impressive collection!
Ease of Earning Wyndham Rewards
Wyndham Rewards points are easy to earn because there are so many different ways to earn them. You can earn big on its credit cards with welcome bonuses, everyday spending, and bonus category spending.

Once you’re signed up, you’re ready to start earning Wyndham Rewards points.
1. Earn a Welcome Bonus
Wyndham-branded rewards credit cards each offer a generous welcome bonus when you are approved for the card and meet minimum spending requirements within the first 90 days after approval.

Additional Ways to Earn Wyndham Rewards

Be sure you’re signed up for Wyndham Rewards before staying at a Wyndham property or utilizing any of the additional reward-earning activities.
11. Staying at Hotels by Wyndham
Earning Wyndham Rewards on all affiliated hotel stays is a simple process. You’ll earn 10 base points per dollar spent (regardless of the credit card you use) and receive a minimum of 1,000 points for each stay.
Hot Tip: Since free nights at Wyndham start at 7,500 points per night, even staying at lower-priced properties can earn free nights quickly. For example, staying at a $49 per night hotel would mean you would only need to spend just $735 (15 nights) to earn 15,000 points, good for as many as 2 free nights.
12. Purchase the “Best Rate + Points”
Select a Best Rate + Points option when you book your hotel room and receive:
- 2,000 bonus points for weekday stays of 2+ nights
- 1,000 bonus points for weekday stays of 1 night
- 500 bonus points for weekend stays
13. Plan a Meeting

Have a special event or meeting? You’ll earn 1 Wyndham Rewards point per dollar spent for the meeting room, hotel rooms, and associated charges. Note that the paying guest earns 10 points per dollar spent or 1,000 points minimum, whichever is greater.
14. Earn Elite Status by Staying at Hotels by Wyndham
Stay just 5 nights in a calendar year and receive Gold status and 10% bonus points on your stay. After 15 stays in a calendar year at Wyndham properties, you’ll qualify for Platinum status and receive a 15% bonus on Wyndham Rewards points from stays.
If you stay 40 nights in a calendar year, you’ll qualify for Diamond status and receive a 20% bonus on Wyndham Rewards points from stays.
If you have elite status with another hotel chain, see if you’re eligible for a status match or challenge with Wyndham.
15. Party in Vegas

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts partners with Caesars Entertainment, so you’ll earn Wyndham Rewards points for stays at Caesars-affiliated properties, too.
16. Transfer Capital One Miles
You can transfer miles earned on your Capital One credit cards to Wyndham Rewards at the ratio of 2 Capital One miles to 1.5 Wyndham Rewards points.
17. Use the Best Rate Guarantee
Book a Wyndham hotel online or by calling the reservation number and you’ll be eligible for the Best Rate Guarantee.
If you find a lower publicly available rate on another website, Wyndham will match that rate plus give you 3,000 Wyndham Rewards bonus points. Terms and conditions apply.
18. Rent a Car
Wyndham partners with Avis and Budget, allowing you to earn bonus rewards points on every car rental.
You’ll earn 100 Wyndham Rewards points per day for each booking when applying your Wyndham Rewards number to the reservation. There is also a 30% discount for members.

Various Wyndham Vacation Ownership properties offer thousands of Wyndham Rewards points for attending timeshare presentations.
To start, elect to receive marketing and promotional emails when you sign up for the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program.
You’ll then receive invitations for discounted stays at Vacation Ownership properties with the requirement of participating in a timeshare presentation.
20. Earn Points With Special Offers
Wyndham runs periodic special offers, such as the recent Super 8 Military Appreciation rate that awarded a special rate plus 500 bonus points. Other examples include the “15% off plus 100 bonus points” promo and the “stay 2 nights, get 8,000 points” deal.
Once you’ve signed up for the Wyndham Rewards program, keep an eye on your email for special reward-earning offers.
21. Join the Opinion Rewards Panel
Share your opinion and earn Wyndham Rewards! You’ll receive 500 points for signing up with the Opinion Rewards Panel and taking your first survey.
22. Buy Wyndham Rewards Points
Another way to acquire Wyndham Rewards points is to purchase them. You can normally purchase up to 10,000 points per year.
Final Thoughts
Wyndham truly offers a vast range of properties, and having a variety of lodging choices is a good thing.
If you plan to stay at these properties or are already a member of Wyndham Rewards, it also makes sense to have a Wyndham-branded credit card.
If you stay often at Wyndham properties, the card offering the better value is the Wyndham Rewards Earner+ card. The extra points received with the welcome bonus definitely offset that annual fee, especially if you redeem them to stay at a high-end property! The extra earnings and annual renewal bonus on this card could also offset future annual fees.
If your business involves travel, you might want to consider the Wyndham Rewards Business card with its higher earnings for hotel stay purchases and bonus earnings on common business purchases.
But if you stay at Wyndham just occasionally, perhaps select the credit card with no annual fee.
No matter which credit card you choose, there isn’t much of a downside to earning and redeeming Wyndham Rewards points!
Do you happen to know if the rewards are available to previous card holders? I had the card about two years ago, canceled it, but am now thinking I may want to get the card again.
Hi Cole,
According to the Terms and Conditions for the Wyndham credit cards, the bonus offer is only available to new cardmembers only.
I would like a complete list of stores/purchases that earn Wyndham reward points. I have called and requested a list. No success. I was told to go to the Barclay website and it does not give a list. It gives categories, but also says some exclusions. I am not a mind reader. Was shopping at JCP. The clerk had no idea ( nor should she) if I was earning Wyndham points. The sales pitch we received that convinced us to apply for the Barclay Visa card said we earned points for charges in all restaurants. The info we received with our card said restaurants were not included. We need a list or a simple clarification. Very disappointed so far!
Hi Judith, please be advised **we are NOT Wyndham, nor are we their rewards program** – we are Upgraded Points, a website that publishes articles based on points and miles content as well as other travel related pieces.
It’s very likely there’s not a public list of each and every store; as such, we don’t have one/have not found one anywhere online to our knowledge. As with all rewards programs, there are ALWAYS exclusions and just as you are not a mind reader, neither are we!
Who did you call to request the list? Wyndham? I would suggest calling the phone number on the back of your credit card if you have not tried that already! Sorry we can’t be of more assistance, but again – we are not Wyndham or Barclays so we have no more information than you do or that is available to the public!
Hi Judith. I would also add to Erin’s reply that your Wyndham Rewards card earns 1 point per dollar on every purchase. There are no bonus categories for retail stores.
I can’t believe that spending over $8,000 at Wyndham Inns and Suites only got me 4 free nights! I stayed and paid for 109 nights and earned only 4 nights free! So disappointed!!! Did I make a mistake in my calculations? Think not!!!
Hi Elisa. Each night at Wyndham properties earns 10 points per dollar spent or a minimum of 1000 points, whichever is greater. 109 nights would earn at least 109,000 points which would translate to 14 free nights at 7500 points per night or 7 nights when redeemed @ 15,000 points per night. You didn’t mention if you had the Wyndham Rewards credit card but if you did, your earnings would be significantly higher.
I have a Wyndham Rewards number not associated with a credit card that I have points for free nights. I now have the Wyndham Rewards Visa card. Are these two the same? Do my points transfer from one to another? Thanks.
Hi Sandra. Thanks for the question. The number you have is for your Wyndham Rewards account. This is your loyalty account with Wyndham. Whenever you earn Wyndham rewards, whether staying at Wyndham or making purchases with your credit card, the points go into your Wyndham Rewards account. When you redeem points, they are taken out of Wyndham Rewards account. When you applied for your Wyndham Rewards Visa, you would have needed to add your Wyndham Rewards account number so that the card and the account are matched up. If you did not do this, another Wyndham Rewards account would have been set up for you and you would have 2 accounts. Look at your Wyndham Rewards account online and see if the purchases you’re making on your card are generating points in your account. If so, all is ok. If not, you can call Wyndham and have them merge the 2 rewards accounts. Hope this helps.
I keep seeing commercials stating that you get one free night after staying for two nights.
When I Google for more information, I see that that deal was in 2018.
Is there a current deal or are we being shown last year’s commercials?
Hi Judy. I found a “stay 2 nights, get 20% off” deal but no “stay 2, get one free” offer. I also did not find the offer on Wyndham’s web site or online. You might want to contact Wyndham Rewards 1-866-996-7937.
How do I find out how many points I have?
Hi Kathleen. You can go to Wyndham Rewards online and access your account. If you have not yet set up an online Wyndham Rewards account, use this link to set up an online account using your existing rewards account number. https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-rewards/first-time-sign-in If you have set up an online account in the past, you can access it here: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/wyndham-rewards Hope this helps.
I am not a WR member yet. I plan to sign up shortly as my travel for work places me in Wyndham hotels often. Is it better to sign up now (prior to stay) or fill out a form at the hotel? Is there any type of bonus associated with the first stay?
Hi James,
There likely will not be any bonuses associated with the first stay so you’re probably better off just signing up in advance to save yourself time during check-in.
Thanks for reading!
Hi Christine,
Looks like new double points is not a good deal. Earlier we were getting base points plus 1,000 points for a week night if we paid little more. With the new deal, even if we pay little more, we are going to get less points. Wyndham is making it less lucrative.
