Courtyard by Marriott is probably one of the most well-known midscale brands out there, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a traveler who hasn’t stayed at a Courtyard location at least once. With over 1,200 hotels worldwide, it’s also the biggest brand within the Marriott family.

In this post, we’ll go over what you need to know about the Courtyard by Marriott brand, show you how to use points at Courtyard hotels, and look at the 10 most popular locations.

Everything You Need To Know About Courtyard By Marriott

Courtyard by Marriott has been around for over 3 decades and was designed specifically for business travelers. There are over 1,200 locations in 50+ countries and territories around the world. If you’ve ever taken a road trip, chances are you’ve passed a Courtyard location on your journey.

While Courtyard by Marriott hotels aren’t the most glamorous of Marriott brands, they all have the basics like comfortable rooms, free Wi-Fi, and even a grab-and-go market. Many locations have on-site restaurants, a fitness center, or a pool. One location, the Courtyard Bonaire Dive Resort even has an on-site scuba diving shop!

Courtyard by Marriott is labeled as a Select level hotel within the Marriott family, which also includes AC Hotels, Aloft, Fairfield, Four Points by Sheraton, Moxy, Protea Hotels, and Springhill Suites.

Marriott Bonvoy Overview

You can earn and use Marriott Bonvoy points at any Courtyard by Marriott location worldwide.

Most Courtyard hotels cost between 15,000 and 30,000 points per night. While we didn’t find out-of-this-world value when using points at Courtyard hotels, we did find some locations that made for a pretty solid redemption. Marriott Bonvoy points are valued at about ~0.7 cents each, so you can do some quick math to see if you’re getting a good deal. Just divide the cost per night by the number of points required per night and then multiply by 100. That will give you the cents per point value you’ll be getting.

There are lots of ways to earn more Marriott Bonvoy points, especially because Marriott is a Chase hotel partner and an Amex hotel partner. If you need points fast, earning a credit card sign-up bonus is a great way to go, and there are lots of options.

Here are some of our favorite cards that earn Marriott Bonvoy points or earn points that can be transferred to Marriott Bonvoy.
