The low-cost Avelo Airlines is back with some exciting news — it will begin nonstop flights between 2 of the most popular cities in Florida.

Here’s what you need to know!

New Route Provides Competition for Other Airlines

Avelo will begin seasonal flights between Orlando (MCO) and Miami (MIA) beginning June 7 and will operate through August 18. The airline will fly its Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft on the route.

Flights will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Sundays, perfect for travelers looking for a weekend getaway to Miami or one of Orlando’s theme parks.

Avelo’s latest route will introduce much-needed competition to the market, currently dominated by American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Located just north of Miami, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) also offers a variety of flight options to Orlando. Silver Airways, Spirit Airlines, and Southwest Airlines are among the carriers that operate flights between these popular destinations.

The short flight from South Florida to Orlando can be quite costly. Passengers traveling to either destination will appreciate the more affordable fares offered by Avelo.

“Our MCO base continues to be an exciting platform for growth for Avelo as we add another exciting destination for Orlando-area residents,” said Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy.

Bottom Line:

Avelo Airlines will soon be the first low-cost carrier to offer flights between Orlando and Miami, the 2 most sought-after cities in Florida.

How to Book

Flights on the route are now on sale and start at just $46 one-way. You must book your tickets by May 1 and travel between June 7 and August 11, 2024.

A true low-cost carrier, Avelo cuts costs by passing on the price of ancillary purchases to the customer. Think of it as similar to basic economy on a mainline carrier. You’ll pay extra for baggage, seat selection, and even snacks.

Avelo doesn’t have a rewards program or its own credit card, so you can’t earn points or miles directly. However, you can earn points or miles when booking with a credit card to maximize flight purchases. Here are some of the best travel cards out there:

Final Thoughts

Avelo Airlines has launched an exciting summer route between Orlando and Miami, giving travelers a much more affordable option when flying to either city. With tickets starting at just $46 one-way, this is a perfect opportunity to book your next vacation on a steep budget!
