Its proximity to Port Everglades means it’s a popular arrival airport for cruise departures, and FLL is an alternative option to Miami International Airport (MIA), located just 30 miles away.

FLL Airport Terminals

FLL airport has a rectangular road system with the terminals on the outside and parking and ground transportation facilities on the inside. Only Terminals 3 and 4 are connected, with Terminals 1 and 2 independent from each other and the other 2 terminals.

The terminals are color-coded which corresponds to signage around the airport:

  • Terminal 1: Yellow
  • Terminal 2: Red
  • Terminal 3: Purple
  • Terminal 4: Green

Terminal 1

Terminal 1 is situated at the east end of the airport and has 23 gates across 3 concourses — A, B, and C. Concourse A is on the east side of Terminal 1 with gates numbered A1 to A7, Concourse B is in the center with gates numbered B1 to B9, and Concourse C is on the west side with gates numbered C1 to C9.

Departures is on level 2 with the ticketing area and 2 security checkpoints, and arrivals is on level 1. Terminal 1 has a good selection of shops, cafes, and restaurants that are located within and in between each concourse. A United Club is located in Concourse C near gate C1.

Terminal 2

Terminal 2 is at the northwest end of the airport and consists of 1 concourse with 9 gates, numbered D1 to D9. Departures is located on level 2 with 1 security checkpoint, and arrivals is on level 1.

Delta Air Lines and Air Canada operate from Terminal 2, and there is a Delta Sky Club near the gate information area. Shops, cafes, and restaurants are located throughout the terminal and concourse.

Terminal 3

Terminal 3 is at the far west end of the airport and consists of concourses E and F. Terminal 3 has a total of 20 gates with E1 to E10 at the north end of the terminal and gates F1 to F10 at the south end.

Departures is located on level 2 with 2 security checkpoints for concourses E and F, and arrivals is on level 1. Terminal 3 is attached to Terminal 4 via a connector bridge so passengers can walk between these terminals without the need to reclear security again (excluding international arrivals).

The terminal and both concourses have a good range of shops and restaurants.

Terminal 4

Terminal 4 is at the southwest end of the airport and is connected to Terminal 3 with a connector bridge. Flights depart from Concourse G from gates numbered G1 to G4, and Spirit is the airline that predominately operates from this terminal.

Departures is on level 2 along with ticketing, and 1 security checkpoint and arrivals is on level 1. The terminal has a good selection of shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Inter-terminal Transport

Terminal Shuttle Bus

Terminal shuttle buses depart from the lower level outside of each terminal and operate from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m daily. This service is temporarily suspended.

Garage Tram

Passengers can ride the garage tram from the lower level of the Palm and Hibiscus parking garages. The tram serves all terminals and operates every 8 minutes, 24/7.

Security and Customs at FLL

FLL has 5 security checkpoints with varying hours. Check your date on the airport’s website.

  • Terminal 1: 3:45-4 a.m. to 10-10:45 p.m.
  • Terminal 2: 4 a.m. to 9-10:45 p.m.
  • Terminal 3:
    • Concourse E: 3:30-4 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
    • Concourse F: 3 a.m. to midnight
  • Terminal 4: 3:45 a.m. to midnight

If arriving on an international flight, passengers are required to pass through immigration and customs, regardless of whether the U.S. is the final destination or a connection point.

TSA PreCheck

There are dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes at all security checkpoints, and eligible passengers may use these if they have been approved through the application process.

PreCheck is available during these hours (hours may vary so check your date on the TSA website):

  • Terminal 1: 4 a.m to 9 p.m.
  • Terminal 2: 5 a.m to 8 p.m.
  • Terminal 3:
    • Concourse E: 5 a.m to 8 p.m
    • Concourse F: 5 a.m to 9 p.m
  • Terminal 4: 4 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Global Entry

There are Global Entry kiosks at FLL for eligible passengers who have successfully enrolled in the program.

If you’re departing or arriving from FLL and need to arrange an interview, the closest Enrollment Center is about 1.3 miles from the terminals, located at 1800 Eller Dr., Suite 104, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316. The center is open Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The airport also participates in Enrollment on Arrival, so if you are conditionally approved, you can complete your interview at FLL without the need to make an appointment. This can be done at:

  • Terminal 1: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Terminal 4: 5 a.m. to midnight

Mobile Passport

FLL accepts Mobile Passport Control for passengers arriving in the U.S.

It’s simple to use — passengers just need to complete the “new trip” section within the app on arrival at the airport and present the electronic receipt and passport to a CBP agent.

CLEAR

There are dedicated CLEAR security program lanes at the Terminal 1, 2, and 3 security checkpoints with enrollment possible at all. These are open daily:

  • Terminal 1: 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Terminal 2:
    • CLEAR lane for PreCheck-eligible travelers: 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    • CLEAR lane for standard security: 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Terminal 3:
    • Concourse E: 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    • Concourse F: 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Terminal 4: 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

FLL has 3 airline lounges with a United Club available to purchase a pass on the day of travel. The Delta Sky Club is reserved exclusively for premium cabin passengers or eligible frequent flyers.

Airport Dining and Drinks at FLL

FLL has 44 restaurants, cafes, and food stations, with the majority located within the secure area. If you’ve arrived too early to check in, then the best place to grab a bite is at Terminal 1, which has the best selection outside of the secure area.

FLL Airport Wi-Fi and Charging Stations

FLL provides complimentary Wi-Fi to all passengers in the terminals, concourses, and rental car center. For Wi-Fi assistance, call 866-435-9355.

Charging Stations: Charging stations can be found in the concourse areas only and are free to use.

FLL Airport Lost and Found

For items lost on an aircraft or for any lost baggage queries; passengers need to contact the relevant airline.

For items lost in any other locations, including security, passengers need to submit a claim to the lost and found office by completing this form or by calling 954-359-2247. Any items from security will be passed to the lost and found office the next business day.

The lost and found office is located on level 2 in the rental car center, near the elevators, and is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Information booths are located throughout the airport staffed by airport ambassadors in red jackets.

Children’s Play Areas

Unfortunately, FLL ranks as one of the least kid-friendly U.S. airports; however, the airport does have a children’s play area located on the mezzanine in Terminal 1. The cloud-inspired installation has lots of climbing areas and a slide to keep the kids entertained while waiting for a flight.

Baby Facilities

FLL has 6 dedicated nursing pods within the airport. These are Mamava pods that use code entry, accessible through the Mamava app, or by calling 954-359-1201. The pods are located at:

  • Terminal 1:
    • Post-security, at the end of the moving walkway in Concourse A
    • Post-security, in the B/C connector
  • Terminal 2, pre-security near ticketing
  • Terminal 3:
    • Concourse E near the security checkpoint
    • Concourse F near the security checkpoint
  • Terminal 4 near gate G8

Traveling With a Pet

FLL doesn’t make our most pet-friendly U.S. airports list, but they do have pet relief areas pre-security located at:

  • Outside Terminal 1, under the garage walkway
  • Terminal 2, outside the Palm Garage
  • Terminal 3, outside the Palm Garage
  • Terminal 4, outside the Palm Garage

FLL also has 6 post-security relief areas for service animals. These are located at:

  • Terminal 1, in the B/C connector
  • Terminal 1, near the U.S. Customs Federal Inspection Station
  • Terminal 2, Concourse D
  • Terminal 3, Concourse F
  • Terminal 4, Concourse G

Duty-Free

FLL has 4 duty-free shops located in Terminals 1, 2, 3, and Terminal 4.

Smoking Areas

Smoking is permitted in designated smoking areas outside of the terminals. To smoke between a flight connection, passengers must exit the secure area and clear security on re-entry.

Prayer

There is a quiet room for meditation and prayer located at the south end of Terminal 3.

Money

ATMs can be found pre- and post-security within all terminals and on level 3 of the car rental center.

Currency exchange kiosks are located in the international arrivals area of Terminal 1 and the baggage claim area of Terminal 4.

Luggage Storage

FLL has luggage storage facilities in all terminals that are available from 9 a.m. to 5.30 a.m. on their days of opening. These are located at:

  • Terminal 1:
    • Near baggage claim carousel 1, open Friday to Monday (temporarily closed) 
    • On the second floor near the Concourse B exit, open 7 days a week
  • Terminal 2: on the departures level near the security checkpoint, open 7 days a week (temporarily closed) 
  • Terminal 3: near baggage claim carousels 4 and 5, open Friday to Monday
  • Terminal 4: near the Spirit baggage service office, open Friday to Monday (temporarily closed)

Travel to and From FLL

Transport Options

Train

Tri-Rail trains connect Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach. Trains operate every 20 minutes to an hour, so it’s best to check the schedule.

The fare depends on how many zones you pass through, so traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Hollywood International Airport Station would cost $2.50 to $6.25 for a single journey.

Buses

Broward County Transit Bus: Route 3 operates to/from FLL from the Broward Central Terminal through to Aventura Mall in Miami. Buses depart from stop 7 at the rental car center and run every 20 to 30 minutes depending on the day/time. A single journey costs $2.

Tri-Rail Bus: Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Station at Dania Beach is just a few miles from the airport and a free shuttle bus transports passengers between the airport and the station.

Shuttle buses stop at the west end of Terminal 1, between Terminals 2 and 3, and between Terminals 3 and 4.

Shuttle

The airport recommends GO Airport Shuttle for a shared or private ride shuttle. Bookings can be made in advance (954-561-8888) or on arrival at the airport at the ground transportation desk in arrivals.

Ride Services

Ride services such as Uber or Lyft can drop off passengers curbside at the departures level. Designated pick-up areas are on the lower level between Terminals 1 and 2 and Terminals 3 and 4 and are marked with a sign showing a cell phone.

Directions by Car to FLL

Arriving From Fort Lauderdale

Take US-1 South towards E. Broward Boulevard and keep left to stay on US-1. Use the second from the right lane to stay on US-1 and then use the right 2 lanes to take the exit towards Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Arriving From West Palm Beach (North)

Take I-95 South and use the right 3 lanes to take exit 26 towards International Airport/Port Everglades. Merge onto I-595 East and use the right 2 lanes to take exit 12A for US-1 towards Dania Beach/International Airport.

Arriving From Miami (South)

Take I-95 North and keep left at the fork to continue on I-95 Express, following signs for Express Lanes. Keep left to stay on I-95 Express and use the right 2 lanes to take exit 24 towards Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Merge onto I-595 East and use the right 2 lanes to take exit 12A for US-1 towards Dania Beach/International Airport. Please note that this route has tolls.

Official Airport Parking

FLL has over 11,000 parking spaces on airport property, and all are located outside of the terminals in 3 parking garages named Cypress, Hibiscus, and Palm.

Short-term Parking

Short-term garage parking is available in the Hibiscus garage (level 2) and the Palm garage (level 1). Short-term parking costs $3 per hour/$36 per day.

Long-term Parking

Long-term parking is available in all 3 parking garages and costs $3 per hour or $15 per day. Long-term parking is located on these levels:

  • Hibiscus: levels 3 to 7
  • Palm: levels 2 to 4
  • Cypress: levels 6 to 9

Curbside Valet Parking

Valet parking is available at the west ends of Terminals 1 and 4 on the upper-level roadway. Fees are $25 per day. For more information, call 954-359-8108.

Inter-garage Trams

Passengers can ride a complimentary tram service between the Palm and Hibiscus garages to make the journey to/from the terminal quicker.

Trams operate 7 days a week, every 8 minutes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and every 15 minutes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Overflow Parking

Overflow parking is available during peak travel periods or when garage parking lots are full. The lot is located west of the airport, and passengers can ride the free shuttle bus to/from the terminals. Overflow parking costs $10 per day.

Hot Tip: FLL has color-coded signs inside the parking complex to help visitors find the most suitable area to park for their terminal. 

Pick-up or Drop-off Parking

The cell phone waiting lot is located just seconds away from the arrivals area of the terminals and offers free parking to visitors waiting to pick up passengers.

The cell phone waiting lot can be accessed from I-595, US-1, and Griffin Road. After waiting in the lot, visitors can still make use of the free 20 minutes self-parking grace period in the parking garages if they choose to, or can pick up passengers from the arrivals curb.

Off-Site and Hotel Parking

Although long-term parking at FLL isn’t the most expensive we’ve seen, there are still options to make it even cheaper. External parking lots can offer parking from $8.49 per day when booked via airportparkingreservations.com.

These off-site lots often have free shuttle services to/from the airport, and if it’s a hotel, may also offer hotel + parking packages.

Parking for Passengers With Disabilities

Parking for passengers with disabilities can be found in all airport parking garages. These also have a unique ADA parking access feature that allows visitors with upper-body mobility limitations to access the parking facilities without pulling a ticket. Information is recorded using a speakerphone and camera recognition.

Car Rental at FLL Airport

Car rental services are available on and off-airport property, with a rental car center located opposite Terminal 1. Passengers arriving into Terminal 1 should follow signage to the Concourse B pedestrian bridge to access the rental car center.
