Key Takeaways

  • LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York City has undergone significant renovations. It now offers modern terminals with expanded dining, shopping, and lounges across terminals A, B, and C.
  • There are 6 lounges at LGA, two of which you can access with a day pass. Priority Pass holders can redeem a visit for a treatment at Be Relax Spa in Terminal B.
  • Ground transportation includes rental cars, taxis, ride-hailing services, buses, and trains. LGA does not have a subway station.

LaGuardia Airport (LGA) operates domestic flights to the East Coast and central areas of North America with a longstanding maximum flight radius of up to 1,500 miles for LGA flights, excluding Denver (DEN) and Saturday flights.

LGA is the busiest U.S. airport (for passenger numbers) without a direct route to Europe. It’s been criticized for its outdated facilities, but after half a decade of redevelopment, LGA’s new Terminal C and revamped Terminal B offer a more streamlined passenger experience, with spacious, modern amenities.

As a domestic hub for Delta Air Lines, the airline was a significant contributor to LGA’s expansion project.

LGA Airport Terminals

LaGuardia Airport has 3 terminals, A, B, and C, south of the airport’s 2 runways. Terminal A sits on the west side, while terminals B and C are closer together on the east side of the airport. Even though B and C are not connected after security, passengers can walk between the terminals before security via a covered walkway.

The Grand Central Parkway runs along the south of the airport, so if you’re traveling to LGA by car, you can access your required terminal easily by taking the signposted road system from the parkway.

Terminal A

Terminal A, also known as the Marine Air Terminal, was initially built to manage seaplanes. Terminal A is on the west side of the airport and occupied by Frontier and Spirit.

Departures is accessible from the circular art deco rotunda, which leads to the check-in area. The departure concourse has 6 gates, numbered 1 to 6, with arrivals on the same level.

Terminal B

Terminal B is in the central area of the airport and has 2 concourses connected by elevated walkways. Terminal B’s renovation (completed in 2022) added bright and spacious departures and arrivals halls, revamped concessions, and an improved security checkpoint. The terminal now consists of 4 levels, including a new concessions level with shops and restaurants.

Level 2: Baggage Claim

The baggage claim carousels are on level 2, along with a welcome center and Starbucks. Passengers can be picked up curbside, and an on-demand taxi rank is on this level. Passengers can access the walkway to the Terminal B parking garage from the west end of the terminal.

Level 3: Ticketing and Check-In

After security, an escalator takes passengers up to level 4, where there are quick- and full-service dining and shopping.

The Centurion Lounge and Chase Sapphire Lounge are at the east end of this floor. Other amenities include a meditation room, a nursing room, and a pet relief area.

Passengers can access the eastern and western concourses by walking across the concourse bridges from this level.

Eastern Concourse

The Eastern Concourse is a newly developed concourse with 19 gates, numbered 40 to 49 and 51 to 59. There’s a good selection of shops and restaurants, including LGA Duty-Free, Shake Shack, and the new Capital One Landing. A United Club and an Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge are on the upper level, and a children’s play area is on the lower level in the central concourse.

LGA has 86 restaurants, cafes, and grab-and-go stores throughout the airport, so there are plenty of choices to grab a bite before your flight. There are only a couple of these outside the secure area at all terminals except Terminal B, so head there if you’re too early to check in.

If you want to check out what’s available before you arrive, head to the airport’s website, where you can filter restaurants by terminal and see what’s available before and after security.

LGA Airport Wi-Fi and Charging Stations

LGA provides free and unlimited Wi-Fi to passengers and guests in all public areas. To connect, follow these steps:

  1. Select “_Free LGA WiFi” from your available connections.
  2. Launch your browser, and you’ll be on your way.

For any connectivity issues, contact the 24/7 customer support line at 800-880-4117.

Charging stations: There are charging stations at:

  • Terminal B: Near gates 47, 51, and 55
  • Terminal C: Near gates 81, 92, 94, 96, and 98
Hot Tip:

Not all airports offer free Wi-Fi. If you don’t want to worry about being disconnected, you may want to pick up a mobile hot spot to keep you connected.

LGA Airport Lost and Found

The process for retrieving lost property depends on where an item was misplaced.

If you lose something in one of the terminals or on a taxi or bus, the airport advises emailing lgalostandfound@panynj.gov with a detailed description of the item and the circumstances, such as the date and location.

If an item was left on an airplane, then contact the airline directly.

If you lose something while passing through security, then contact TSA’s lost and found at 866-289-9673 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Final Thoughts

LaGuardia Airport has transformed into a modern, efficient gateway that reflects the energy of New York City. With renovated terminals, improved dining, clearer signage, and better transport links, it is far more pleasant than its past reputation suggested. Closer to Manhattan than John F. Kennedy International (JFK) or Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), LGA is a practical choice for passengers looking to fly domestically.
