Key Takeaways

  • JFK offers numerous lounges, such as the Delta Sky Club in Terminal 4 and the American Airlines Admirals Club in Terminal 8.
  • Many lounges can be accessed through membership, day passes, or Priority Pass.
  • Lounges typically offer comfortable seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, and refreshments, enhancing the pre-flight experience for business and leisure travelers.

JFK serves over 60 million passengers each year, making it the sixth-busiest airport in the U.S. There are around 30 lounges at JFK, several of which allow passengers to purchase single-entry passes.

Many lounges admit passengers with Priority Pass membership, including the Primeclass Lounge and the Air France lounge.

With JFK’s security checkpoints at each terminal and the lack of airside connections, it can be challenging to use a lounge at a terminal other than where you’re departing. However, JFK’s renovation plans should improve this situation once the 2 new consolidated terminals are completed.

Connecting Between Terminals for Lounge Access

JFK’s AirTrain is the main way to get between terminals. Operating outside of the secure area, this requires passengers to reclear security when entering a terminal, which can delay connection times. It’s worth considering this and allowing extra time, especially if you’re traveling between terminals to access a particular lounge.

Delta operates the JFK Jitney shuttle bus between terminals 2 and 4, where you shouldn’t have to reclear security on arrival. Just be aware that some passengers have reported having to reclear security, so allow plenty of time to reach your flight.

Best Credit Cards To Access Priority Pass Lounges

Priority Pass is a lounge network of over 1,700 airport lounges and experiences that provides complimentary food, drinks, a place to relax, and other amenities. This lounge network offers exceptional value for travelers seeking a place to relax and refuel before or between flights.

Luckily for frequent travelers, there are several great travel rewards cards with Priority Pass. Our favorites are the Amex Platinum card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card gets cardholders access to all Priority Pass lounges, while the Amex Platinum card includes Priority Pass (upon enrollment) and access to networks such as Centurion Lounges, Plaza Premium Lounges, 10 visits to Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta) with the ability to unlock unlimited visits through spend, and Escape Lounges – The Centurion Studio Partner.

Final Thoughts

There’s a huge variety of lounges available at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Access ranges from single-visit purchases to lounge memberships and airline lounges for passengers with certain credentials.

JFK’s restrictive layout currently means passengers cannot simply stroll between terminals to use all available lounges. With unpredictable wait times at security, many passengers won’t risk that glass of wine or cup of coffee to have to clear security twice before a flight.
