The Targeted Offers
Some cardholders were offered 10,000 bonus SPG Starpoints after they spent $10,000 on qualifying purchases, while others received an even higher offer to earn 15,000 points after $15,000 in spending.
Both offers require that you put the necessary spending on your registered Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express. The spending must be completed between the time you register and September 30, 2017. The registration period for this offer ends on August 15, 2017.
The main points of the terms and conditions for the offers are listed below, but be sure to visit the promotion pages to read them in full.
- Qualifying purchases can be made by the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on a single Card Account.
- Qualifying purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, balance transfers, cash advances, purchases of traveler’s checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of any cash equivalents.
- Additional Card Members on your account are not eligible for this offer.
- Bonus points will be credited to your account 10-12 weeks after you reach the Purchase Requirement.
Why You Want SPG Starpoints
SPG Starpoints are some of the most valuable points on the market. You can redeem Starpoints for some amazing travel including flights, hotel stays, and train travel. They can be even transferred at a 1:3 ratio to the Marriott Rewards program for award stays at Marriott and Ritz-Carlton.
If you decide to transfer Starpoints to an airline partner, you can receive a bonus of 5,000 miles when you transfer a chunk of 20,000 points.
Check to See Whether You Are Targeted
People who were targeted for one of these spending bonuses should have received an email within the last week, so make sure you check your inbox. Be sure to search your trash and spam folders since it may have been filtered or accidentally deleted!
Alternatively, you can visit the registration pages for each offer to see if you are eligible for either one:
Each page provides the promotion details. Even if you didn’t receive an email from Amex, it’s worth checking to see if you are eligible for both offers.
Although there is no way to make sure you are targeted for a specific offer, these offers are sent out somewhat regularly.
To increase your chances of being targeted for a spending bonus on your Amex credit cards, go into your account communication settings and agree to receive promotional emails.
This will give American Express permission to email you about fun promotions, including lucrative big spending bonuses for tons of extra points!
If you were one of the lucky ones to be targeted for this promotion, make sure you keep track of your spending. If you fall short of the $10,000 or $15,000 threshold (depending on your offer), you won’t receive any bonus points.
With so many awesome ways to use Starpoints, you certainly don’t want to miss out on a great opportunity to earn tons of points!
