For those of you holding credit cards that charge annual fees, the various statement credits that the cards offer are a great opportunity to offset the overall cost of your card.

As 2025 draws to a close, many credits are in “use it or lose it” mode now. That’s because you can’t carry most of these credits forward into the new year. That means it’s a good idea to start planning how you’ll use these benefits.

Let’s take a look at the credits offered on many major cards so you can strategize how to best use them before the end of the year.

Final Thoughts

It’s no secret that most, if not all, of the very best travel rewards credit cards come with an annual fee — some of which can be quite high! Aside from the points you’ll earn and the card benefits you’ll receive, annual credits on these cards offer an excellent way to recoup some of the cash you pay to keep the card in your wallet year after year. Plus, many of the cards listed here offer some of the best credit card bonuses for new applicants.

In fact, if you’re thoughtful in how you use your card’s credits, you might find that you can get more value from them than your card’s annual fee, making rewards and other benefits you receive the cherry on top!

Remember that most cards will provide the credit based on when the purchase posts to your account, so note the date you swipe the card. It can sometimes take a few days for a purchase to process, so waiting until December 31 probably isn’t a good idea.
